Alright, after much deliberation, I have decided to close my previous suggestion on my own accord. The reason for doing so is because people brought up the point that my original proof lacked in quantity of links, and even though I continued to add three more additional large sections of proof I was still being told that there was not enough proof because people could simply not locate the proof buried beneath all the comments or possibly did not take the time to locate them. Therefore I have completely redone all the proof, making sure that all trades listed here were open at the time of posting this suggestion and have been bumped today. In addition, I have also attempted to broaden my source of proof by gathering as many recent and relevant links as I could find from both bazaar.tf and tf2tp.com to aid in this suggestion. There are over 300 links in this initial proof, I do not know the exact number because I kept adding links after I had already counted to roughly 270 links and did not wish to go back and count again. There are roughly a hundred buyer links provided paying 7.11 refined, and a few paying more.


Again, I stress that these are buyer links meaning these are people’s trades made specifically for the purpose of buying keys. These are not people commenting sellers’ trades. There appeared to be some confusion about this while I was reading the comments on my previous suggestion.

The seller links I could locate in my 30 minutes of searching are skimpy to say the least. I tried my best at camping Outpost, but this is the best I could do without using trade.tf since that now requires premium to locate keys at 7 refined quickly. I assume 30 minutes is arguably the most time a buyer would reasonably spend trying to buy a key, so that’s why I cut off my search time. Its also highly frustrating to see people with a key up for trade with 7 refined listed on the side and when you go to view the notes; they say they are selling for 7.22 refined or 7.33 refined.

Now, that I’ve provided all that, I would like to share a few of my thoughts. Firstly, the reason I believe buyer trades are more useful is because sellers do not prove a shift in market value as strongly as buyers do. There will always be a few people who may be willing to pay a scrap or two more for a key because that's how much the time to search for a cheaper key is worth to them, however, when multiple buyers appear buying for more, then it becomes more apparent that an increase may be in order. This is greater emphasized when they start opening their own buying trades because they can no longer simply locate a seller at a lower price, and have simply resorted to paying more than current backpack.tf price in order to attract the sellers to them instead. This is why I believe multiple buyer trades above backpack.tf demonstrate a stronger shift in the market towards a higher average selling price.


Secondly, I’d like to address any comments stating “think of the new players” entering the economy. Those same new players are the ones that go to the Mann Co. Store and buy keys straight from there. The new players that go immediately to backpack.tf because they do not know of another place to get the relative prices of items. The ones that see a key is worth 7 refined, so they sell to people paying that amount. Now many of those people, as seen through the links on this suggestion, went on to simply resell these new players’ keys for higher instead of using them for something else. Its people like that who solely to buy keys in order to resell them higher not thinking of the consequences that are leading to an increase in key prices. I'm not the one buying these keys from new traders and turning around to sell them for scrap or more above backpack.tf because the new player didn't know he could have gotten more quite easily. Those people, the ones listed under the ‘Key Shop’ section are the one dwindling up the supply at 7 refined, and rather than investing the keys elsewhere, they're simply reselling them for higher. If people wouldn't abuse keys for the profit of a measly one to two scrap more than the current suggested value, then the price wouldn't rise as drastically as they had done in the past.


Third, I am not doing this suggestion because I feel as though there’s some personal profit I can gain for myself by making it. I have demonstrated through the links on this suggestion that if I felt the need to sell keys for above backpack.tf price, then I could easily do so, and possibly be able to sell them even above this suggested price change since there are people openly searching to buy keys for 7.22 refined. I am doing this suggestion because I personally feel, and have always felt that the purpose of backpack.tf is to inform traders, new and experienced alike, of the current price items can sell for, especially an item such as keys which is so widely used in a multitude of trades that it is considered to be a currency item. I am not doing this for imaginary points on backpack.tf. If I wanted to have the points for making a suggestion, then I would not have chosen the most labor intensive item in TF2 to suggest upon since people are so accustomed to hundreds of links in the key suggestion whereas many other suggestions may be passed on as low as ten or less.


Please feel free to voice any constructive criticisms of this suggestion. Moderators only warn comments that bring nothing useful to the conversation such as those that wish to simply call back upon the key prices of the past as if calling attention to them will somehow make them reappear. Also comments that degrade any user or site; along with those that simply state the economy will crash soon will lead to a warning or ban as well. It is not an unfair system, and you agreed to this fairly simple terms to follow when you were asked to consent to the rules of backpack.tf: http://backpack.tf/vote?showrules=1 which is to basically have the same moral conduct standards as an elementary school student. I apologize if that came off as a little harsh for some people’s liking, but I feel it should be stated in layman’s terms since some seem to overlook it.

            Alright there's a huge problem with key suggestions. Someone who buys a key above the market price because he wants it fast is a quickbuyer. We need to start using this term because they shouldn't be considered valid proof. People who buy a key for more than 7 refined want a key immediately and give up more metal to save time.


            I bought a key for 7 refined in a trade server in 2 minutes after advertising. 7 refined is the right price

                They're no longer "quickbuyers" if they're not buying keys for the purpose of having keys, but rather to flip those keys for 7.22 refined. There's over 15 people that have made those trades in the 'Key Shop' section, so they're not buying keys for 7.11 refined because they need them fast because all they do once they have them is flip those keys.                   Actually, apart from the fact that there are "quickbuyers" on about 90% of all key trades, noone would consider 7.11 ref as quickbuying at all, as it is only about 1.5% more than the actual price. And, as he showed in his suggestion, 7 ref, like you bought your keys for, is still in the range/is still possible.

                    Even though i think i like the current price better and some people will sell keys for 7.33 if this gets accepted, i gotta admit this suggestion is better than the previous. 7-7.11 well i am curious how this will turn out.

                                      I searched outpost using the 'enter a phrase to search for' function. This is available to all outpost users under the additional info tab near the bottom of the search page. I simply put 1 refined metal on the left hand side of the search and 1 key on the right hand side of the search. The phrase I looked for was 7.11.

                                      These buyers are not hard to find. If you decide to sell your key for less than 7.11, you are simply misinformed, there's no other way to put it. Why anyone would sell for less than 7.11 is beyond me.


                                      As far as the suggestion goes, it's a definite upvote.


                                      However, I disagree with your statement "bots are not considered valid proof since they are mainly used for convenience". If I sell a key to a bot buying at 7.11, I'm not doing it because it's "convenient", I do it because it's buying above the current price and that's simple trading. If anything, bots would be more valid because they are always online and always buying. I know this issue has been debated before and I'm not sure what the general opinion is on bots, I'm just putting mine out there.

                                        L2 bought in an hour

                                        L3 got an add within a day

                                        L4 is a bot, so idk

                                        L5 is a bot, so idk

                                        L6 has 5 views, rarely bumped it ever

                                        L7 has bought 33, a bit more than 1 a day, might've changed his price?

                                        L8-12 bots so idk

                                        L13 didnt have much success

                                        L14 hasnt had much success, but has had a lot of success selling at 7.22 (wut)

                                        Demand is definitely higher than supply, however 7.11 does seem to be bought quickly

                                        It seems as though the market is slowly transitioning towards 7.11 unfortunately, but we'll wait and see

                                        From my experience you get ~3 a week buying at 7, roughly the same amount selling at 7.11

                                                I agree, give your side of the story, your not gonna be gunned down for it, personally I don't really like this suggestion because most of these proofs are from tf2outpost.com, and it literally is not hard to find these type of links on that website, literally everyone at that website sells at 7.11 or 7.22 for profit, also key banking and bots would not be considered valid on my stand view, because that is obviously going to sell at a higher price than 7 ref, since once again they are doing it for profit. He does mention this on the suggestion though.

                                                    Honestly, I like the 7ref price myself, but it is almost impossible to buy a key for 7ref, unless it's a person who hasn't been trading for a while and blindly follows bp.tf's price. As soon as a 7ref key is advertised in a trade server or tf2outpost, it's sold. This is no doubt a quicksell right now. It is impossible to find anyone selling for 7 ref last more than a minute.


                                                    Even buying at 7.11 is hard when there are so many buyers at 7.11. I steadily buy at 7.11, and sell at 7.22 with no trouble.


                                                    Again, I don't want key prices to rise, but right now 7 ref seems to be misguiding people. But this has happened over and over again, as soon as it increases, prices will increase again. The amount of time it took to go up from 7 to 7.11 shows the power of bp.tf on the economy though.


                                                    I disagree with the range that's being suggested. I think 7.11 is more appropriate.

                                                              It's true that nearly all of outpost buys at 7.11/sells at 7.22 (or higher).

                                                              BUT: it would help if you got proof in trade servers, (where i never see people buy for 7.11 or sell for 7.22) .

                                                              maybe take a few screenshots of trade server chats? seems like only proof is outpost or bazaar.

Those people who say that ref is outweighing keys and that ref is flooding the market - the ratio of refined to keys in the economy is ~2.33 funnily enough. 800,000 keys, 2.1 million refined. I'm not saying the price of keys should lower but this seems ironic.

                                                                                              Proof is there and the votes are positive. With the vast some of trades happening at 7.11 (many of which belong to buyers), it seems like it is time to include 7.11 in the range.
