Previous suggestion for this hat did not take into account a sale that happened a few days after it was posted. While a bunch of DOTA items are involved, even without taking them into account, it's clear that the price on this hat is higher than 8.9 buds. Note to moderators: If the DOTA items prove problematic, I will remove them and re-post.

Shortly after previous suggestion, this hat sold for the following (http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17281795 is where the offer was made, but the final offer involved negotiations that ultimately ruled out the possiblity of determining overpay. A screenshot of everything that changed hands is forthcoming.)

- A Legendary Dragonclaw Hook (DOTA 2 Item)

- Purple Energy Steel Toe (8 month old price, 1.6-2 buds)

- Purple Confetti Katyusha

- Cauldron Bubbles Killer's Kabuto (4 month old price, original average 4.75 buds)

- A whole bunch of DOTA2 items, the most noteable of which were an Unusual Enduring War Dog (Cursed Essence), Bloodstained Britches (a rare), and an Unusual Speed Demon (Piercing Beams)

So, let's start with getting one of the hardest ones out of the way, that being the Dragonclaw Hook. DOTA2 items are hard to definitively price in TF2 items, and sales between the two economies are fairly rare. I don't have any sales, but I do have some offers that give us a good idea of what's out there.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17723335 - Had a (probably low) offer of 3 buds pure a week ago. We can determine that the hook is worth at least this.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17321075 - Had an offer of 75 TF2 keys a month ago. That's 3 buds, 15 keys.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17462932 - 3 buds, 20 keys offered around same time period.

The Kabuto I'll let speak for itself. Four months isn't that old of a price.

The Steel Toe has been devalued a little in terms of price, but I was able to find some sales from the same time period. Feel free to use these to update the hat.

http://backpack.tf/id/76561198077465738?time=1388822400 - Sold for a bud.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17042405 - Offer of 1 bud, 3 keys from same time period.

http://backpack.tf/id/76561198014787646?time=1390377600

http://backpack.tf/id/76561198014787646?time=1390636800 - Sold for a Memory Leak Plumber's Pipe (1.7, no overpay).

Thus, we can put a price of somewhere between 1 and 1.7 buds on the Steel Toe, average of about 1.4 buds. For those of you playing along at home, so far we've got:

4.5 Buds (Kabuto) + 1.4 Buds (Steel Toe) + 70 Keys (Hook) = 9.4 buds. We're already at the previous suggestion or higher, and we haven't even gotten to the Katyusha yet.

The Katyusha is a little tricky to price, since the current owner is a TF2WH admin and appears to mass-buy unusuals. However, using the backpack viewer, it APPEARS that the owner paid 1 bud, 10 keys for it.

http://backpack.tf/id/76561198025083656?time=1391328000 - After

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17744741 - He's got a buyout of around 2 buds, which supports this theory.

So, using this, let's price the Katyusha at 1.5. We're now up to:

4.5 Buds (Kabuto) + 1.4 Buds (Steel Toe) + 70 Keys (Hook) + 1.5 Buds (Katyusha) = 10.9 buds, a full two buds above previous suggestion.

The following are TF2 price offers on DOTA2 items that are not solidly priced. These can be taken out if need be.

Now, let's factor in one last thing: the Enduring War Dog, by far the hardest thing to price. There's one on the Community Market right now at $26.45, and another at $27.44. Since buds are currently around $40, we can assume that the Enduring War Dog is worth roughly half a bud ($20).

The Britches have received a number of TF2 item offers, mostly around 4 keys:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/17931319 - Offered 4 TF2 keys a week ago.

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7411934 - Offered 4 TF2 keys around the same time as the hat sale.

The Speed Demon (Piercing Beams) has a lowest Market price of $14.96. We'll call that five keys to account for overpricing on the market.

http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/570/Unusual%20Speed%20Demon

4.5 Buds (Kabuto) + 0.5 Buds (War Dog) + 70 Keys (Hook) + 1.5 Buds (Katyusha) + 1.4 Buds (Steel Toe) + 4 Keys (Britches) + 5 Keys (Speed Demon) = 11.4 buds + 9 Keys or 11.8 buds.

That's what we'll use as our high end. It doesn't quite encompass EVERY SINGLE ONE of the multitude (80+) of DOTA2 items in the backpack that was traded, but it's close enough. For a complete list of what was traded in terms of DOTA stuff: http://pastebin.com/jCdFqRSZ. Screenshot of trade history will be forthcoming.

EDIT: http://i.imgur.com/scm4C85.png - Screenshot.

You should get prices for the unpriced unusuals before you use them as proof. Each needs 2 sales and you only provided one

Only one of those is unpriced, and it would be very difficult (read: nearly impossible) to prove two sales on the Katyusha. There are currently two in existence, and one of them has only publicly sold twice - the first time from the unboxer (Gacnac) to Eternal in the trade mentioned above, and the second time from the person Eternal sold it to, to Shadows (the current owner). The person Eternal sold it to has a private BP and never listed the hat on Outpost.

The second one, to the best of my knowledge, has never been availible on Outpost.

I believe that due to the circumstances, only one sale is necessary.

Two days later, and I've found additional evidence to support my claim. Six days ago, zozo buys four hats for an eerie orbit fire Killer Exclusive (priced at 17.7). Those hats are:

Beams Sultan's (priced at around 2.8), Burning Snaggle (4.2), Steaming Gentleman's Ushanka (1.3) and the CB Modest. Subtracting the other hats from 17.7, we get 9.4. No overpay can be determined since multiple hats were exchanged.

      http://backpack.tf/id/76561198042023267?time=1392710400

The dota 2 item trade really shouldn't be used as proof. It's difficult to translate the value of game items from one to the other and a lot of times people trade cross-game items at cheaper prices for the sake of convenience. Other trades will be needed to set the range.

      http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/18082212 - all 4 + 3 pink paints were traded for an eerie ke - http://backpack.tf/id/76561198042023267?time=1392710400

Modest was most likely offered, so without overpay, that comes out to: 17.2 - 4.3 (snaggle was clean) - 2.9 - 1.5 = ~8.5

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/16728940 - offered here ~9.2 - clean hwnn; no overpay since offered

So sales at 8.5, 8.9, 9.2, and 11.8. 11.8 looks like the clear outlier. You'd need to show offers >11 to convince people that 11.8 isn't an outlier. Thanks for your efforts, but just not enough here for the suggested range
