that's how it goes unfortunately, but Erik makes a good point with the 1 month unsold hat at 3.5, suggesting 3.9 doesn't belong in the range.

As XaMcTepA said though, 1.8 is closer to 2.4 than 3.9.

i agree with that. I just thought you were making the point that if something sells 3 times, statistically speaking you couldn't reliably call 1/3 of your data anomalous without more support, which seems like it can happen a lot in suggestions.

Reminds me of an excellent example of poorly treated outliers. A statistician correlated golf scores of CEO's and the stock market success of their companies. There was a strong relationship, but only because he left out a chunk of the data that didn't agree with the relationship.
