Buyers:
notice that i can not physically list all buyers, simply because the way outpost works, they bump to the next page when im still at the same page, making me sometimes skip trades to avoid dupes.
this is more supportive proof, the main proof are the sales shown above.

please do not judge this suggestion by the amount of links, some links may have sold multiple items when others have just one, the quantity provides less information then the quality of the links. I would ask everybody to look at all the links before voting, but i wouldn't want people to die of boredom.

conclusion:
Sales ranging for 7.00 to 7.66, but mainly at the 7.33-7.55 mark. The abundancy of 7.33 buyers makes it so that 7.33 no longer deserves to be in the range, but the sales at 7.55 get balanced out by the 7.33 sales. 7.44 seems the most common traded point and a nice average.
I haven't had any trouble buying keys for 7.33. I think it still belongs in the range.
i buy keys for 7.33 (as most key buyers do) and only get a few trades a week. I know a bunch of people like to complain about the rising key price (me included) but no one can honestly dispute that 7.33 is still the regular sell for price. I'm sure you'll get a lot of hate for this just because people hate to see the price going up, but with the pages and pages and pages of links that could be given, there's just no point.
TL;DR Hate to see the price rise again, but have my upvote.
Looks Good +The other Proof Below Upvoted
Aaaaand then people will start selling at 7.66...
As they always did since 2.33, we know.
i think is enought in the actual place....
I have no problem buying keys for 7-7.33 ref on Trade Servers.
Unfortunately, people are too lazy to go onto Trade servers, so they use Outpost and whatnot
7.33 is common to get at, so it's downvote for me
I personally have been at some trade servers for a few hours and didn't get any for 7.33, although i don't really hop servers alot.
Thanks for the feedback though.
WOW, Nice proof there
Up,Up,Up Vote
Good proof. Upvoted.
I don't know how much longer until we have to buy keys for 8 refined.
Hey guys, sorry for the spam, if this is spam, but i have to know how to search for solds proofs, i only know how to seach for unsolds, pls i need help, thanks for your time :)
Ok so as my last post was "warned" probably because I was being too aggressive, I will trying saying it differently. Keys are not just an item they are a "currency" which means they should be more stable and continually increasing the price is not the way to go. A stable price should be picked and it should stay at that until the need to increase it arises.
And before everyone starts going oh but that's not how bp.tf2 works think about it in a logic sense, for example: if I sell rocks but I must first buy rocks to sell them to make any money I must sell the rocks for a greater price, which is what "key traders" do. They sell them just above the buying price to make profit. But if we raise the buying price to match the traders selling price they will increase their selling price, which in turn creates and continuous cycle. What is so wrong with someone selling it just over the base price? To me and I know many others agree that currency pricing should be more lenient.
Enjoy.
Think .33 is still possible, had to close mine (however was a few days ago) - http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/18923673 cuz of overwhelming responses.
I don't disagree that 7.33 is impossible, it is just that there are quite a bit of 7.33 buyers and a few at 7.44 as well.
7.44 seems the most common traded point though and there are quite a few sales at 7.55 that balance out the 7.33 trades fairly well.
So why not 7.33 - 7.55?
In hindsight, yes 7.33-7.55 would be better, although the difference between that and 7.44 is not that large, as sales will happen above and under listed price anyway.
Is possible but is kinda quicksell. I guess we should make it 7.44 flat.
But people still gonna sell them for like 7.66 lol
Sorry, how is this relevant to this suggestion exactly?
Is there someone out there up/downvoting with bots or something? People can sell for 8 refined if they want but it's still not relevant, like you just pointed out.
What would, according to you, be the most accurate price then?
The price wich there wouldn't be changes with every week.
With the current way the tf2 community is, there would be no price at which keys wouldn't change after a while.
A suggestion can be accurate now, but get outdated later, that's why there are constantly different suggestions for any items, if any item was 'accurate' in the way of the price doesn't change, then the suggestion part of this site would serve no purpose.
Doesn't have anything to do with my point.
The point is to have a key price that would be stable, right now it is, so let's keep it that way
This is not a key price that is stable, thats is why there are quite a few sales at 7.55 and alot at 7.44.
Key prices are stable, it's refined that's the problem.
So that'd be 2.33-10 ref then, you can go and make the suggestion :D
Also key prices will never stop falling because of inflation and greed and reasons.
Myself I'm sick of arguing so my number one advice is: Deal with it
you have enough at 7.44 and at even 7.55
upvote :)
I'm sorry, but in the 5 minutes this suggestion has been up, i don't think there was enough time to evaluate this suggestion.
If you think the price is right out of experience with dealing with keys, then upvoting/downvoting is totally fine, but going by just the quantity of links is not someting that should be done.
Do you even proof bro?
And that matters how? Keys are a currency item; it should be expected that many traders have a decent sum of them.
I am not rising the key, the key already rose.
Also the rise of keys does not help me, it actually hinders me. If i were to sell keys for metal, i'd only get stuck with refined i can do nothing with. Key instead are much more usefull in items that go for multiple keys, so i would want to exchange my metal for keys. The rise of keys makes it harder for me to exchange my metal for keys at the same price, thus hindering me.
So smelt the refined or buy hats with it. I don't understand what you're doing that makes Refined something you can't use at all.
Yeah smelt the refined into....what? Everything you can smelt it into you can buy for less. And nobody uses metal for crafting when they can craft for 2.66 instead of 3.
See I thought he/she was against it because they needed more metal of different types. I have no idea what they're using it for is the thing.
Well said Wesley I 100% agree with you. If keys keep going up it will just make it harder for those of us who use keys as currency (to buy unusual and promos and what not) unlike those who buy keys for 7.33 refined just to sell for 7.66 refined to get a reclaimed profit.
Bugth about 7 yesterday and before. Current range is fine I think.
Proof? Also for how much. Because if you bought 7 in 1 day for 7.33-7.44 you must have been really lucky. And no, the current range is not fine. The amount of buyers for 7.44 suggests that 7.33 should not be in the range. Heck even 7.44 is a quicksell, someone posted a key for 7.44 i added him within 2 minutes and he already sold it.

I only say that 7.33 is still possible, and not quicksell. Wesley has 37 sellers at 7.33, and we can buy for 7.33. Yes, many people are buying for 7.44, because they need keys fast, can't wait days until they get 30 keys.
All I've seen is 7.55 everywhere so should it be from 7.33-7.55 or should the 7.33 be excluded and just have 7.44-7.55?
The difference between 7.33-7.55 and 7.44 is really a minimum, sales happen above and under the suggested backpack.tf price no matter what price gets listed.
Yeah, this is totally true. People couldn't care less about the actual price. If they want pure quick, they sell for Bp.tf price or the occasional (and rare) 7-7.22. If they aren't too dependent on metal, they sell higher like 7.55 and the crazy eights. The price should be like 7.33-7.55.
i hate it saying you're right but you are. i've been waiting this for 2 days. i can buy for 7.33 in 1-2 hour and sold at 7.44 in 30 seconds... i make this 10 times in last 2 days.
A few days ago, i bought a key for 7.33 ref. Then the next day, noone was interested for 7.33 anymore. Even 7.44 doesnt seem to go that smooth as well. I think that the range should be something like 7.44-7.55 ref. I'll see now can i buy a key for 7.44, but i dont think i can. Neutral for now, i have yet a lot to learn about tf2 economy before i can make suggestions, or vote for or against the key prices. Probably they will go up for a long, long time, but sometimes they might drop down. But not in 2014. I dont mind that constant price rising, because thats how it goes in real life with gasoline, right? Anyways, thanks to everyone who took some time to read my comment, no matter will he dislike it or not.
I've sold two keys yesterday, both listed on bp.tf for 7.55. didn't took more than 5 minutes to sell them. However according your proof shouldnt it be like 7.33-7.55?
Well, the statement that 7.33-7.55 would be better has already been asked above you, although i don't blame you for not reading all the posts. I will just quote my original answer here:
"The difference between 7.33-7.55 and 7.44 is really a minimum, sales happen above and under the suggested backpack.tf price no matter what price gets listed."
Price is 2.44? I'll buy for 2.33 and sell for 2.55. Price is 2.55? I'll buy for 2.44 and sell for 2.55. etc etc. Every item does this, so why does the key need constant bumps? You tell me. They look at this site and use it like a bible. "Backpack.tf is a guide." Haven't heard that yet. But you have the proof of the people selling for a scrap higher, so whatever boats your float. It will be back in about a week, seeing as how we will see sellers for 7.55 and buyers for 7.33. Upvote.
Keys don't go up in value because of backpack.tf. Backpack.tf observes that keys go up in value and updates its spreadsheet so that it remains accurate. We do a very good job of making sure we don't influence the economy, I think.
Keys are not actually going up in value, keys are remaining about the same value ($1.6 - $1.8). Its the increase in the supply of refined metal that reduces the value of refined metal, hence increasing the value of keys with respect to metal.
For a while carded keys were a big thing, hence the price wasn't changing due to an increase in supply of keys.

Now that the carders have been caught, keys are on the rise again.
Actually it is the ever-increasing supply and the incredible demand.
However: since all players get the same amount of drops each week supply increase shouldn't be that big of a deal, but more is the demand thing. 10 000 buyers can't all get 1 key a day if there is only 5000 sellers and so the only ones paying high-end get their keys. Mostly.
Those who succeed at 7.33 or so are lucky, yes, and that should be included in the range even though it may only be 25% of the market. If you only go after how much it can sell for the rich people in the community will have the upper hand and I guess that is how it is. I would sell for 7 if not scrap.tf was buying for 7.33 but still 0.33 is practically nothing to me.
TL;DR: The rich guys pay more metal since they have more metal and get the keys. bp.tf thinks this is the proof that counts and that there exists quicksells for keys, which constantly removes the lower end. If they were not considered quicksells price would rise slower, but not stop entirely. This is real world economy, nothing strange that a healthy adult can't understand
What about the #3 chem sets? Isn't that going to reduce the masses of refined by just a little?
While it's not the easiest thing to do, I've had success buying for 7.33 on trade servers. Tonight someone jumped on and sold 4+ keys at 7.33 each. It's too soon to just remove it from the range imo.

If he has valid proof, the price of keys has already gone up.
In case you didnt know people have has success in selling for higher than the current range already.
I have had no problem at the current range.
I think a key should go up because in the tf2 world they arnt even worth 2.50 there worth 1.80 so where does that 60 cents go? Well we all now that..... GABEN :p well yea proof looks good upvote.
It is not like that.
When buying keys of other players, there is always a chance of the person just running of with your money, so why would you buy keys at 2.50 off other people with a chance of losing your money when you can safely buy at 2.50 from the store?
The 70 cents difference is the sellers 'fee' for not being 100% safe.
The price keys go for in real money is no proof or argument for the rise/drop of keys in terms of game 'money' anyway.
Here, I'll attempt to aide this suggestion.

I can assure you that none of these links are dupe to the suggestor's.
Please remember that sales occur at 7.55 just as much as 7.33. I think if you combine Wesley's proof and mine, 7.44 is the most commonly traded price. Take a look here: http://tf2finance.com/keys/ - currently 7.47
I'll post this here as a reply so all the proof is gathered at a place instead of spread out through the whole suggestion.
I would place the proof the same way KoDoRiN does, but it actually doesn't really work with the how i gather the proof and makes me make mistakes faster, so i didn't.

(re-stating my legit comment)
i am not saying that this guy did not find a bunch of links to people profiting off of all this but i am saying that this is all going to backfire
people can still buy at lower than 7.44, downboat
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/18697922 another 7.55 buyer :D (Me)
I don't buy keys but I do sell them. I recently dropped my unsuccessful selling trade of 7.77 to 7.66 and instantly got an add. I think your 7.55 justify a range of 7.44-7.55 but the buyers aren't there yet so I'll upvote.
Simply saying that you can't remove 7.33 ref from range when there are obviously sellers at 7.33 ref
Well when 7.33 gets bought within seconds and there's people buying above that range...
7.44 too ... within seconds, so, based on the speed, you may want to make a counter suggestion > 7.55 ref
I feel like taking the conservative bump would be better until we have the buyers to back up 7.55 a bit more, but I see 7.55 coming up soon anyways.
Make sense, knowing how people hate the bump for key. Upvote is the only way
Another 7.33 seller:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/19141079
If you look at it from a different view,
Keys actually ARN'T going up, refined is just going DOWN.
Refined can be plentifully spawned indefinitely so long as people keep playing tf2 whereas keys need to be bought or traded. It's not the keys, keys are the prime currency. It's metal which is also known as the base currency is suffering.
yep, we cant stop them from profiting
That's called economics. When people want something, producers are able to sell for more because the buyer will pay it. If you want to pin key inflation on anyone, blame the people who constantly buy for higher.
Yeah, but the people who buy for higher are the same... Me and a lot of my friends gave up on buyin' keys because of those prices and one of my friend that is a trader said that, most of the times, people buy keys for higher prices just to make the price up so they can sell it higher as well.
Buying keys and waiting till they increase in metal price does not actually give you any benefit.
The price of keys will averagely stay the same and for higher tier items you generally use keys to buy/sell them.
Waiting for keys to rise would only give you more metal to buy low-tier items with, but you can get more metal faster by flipping other items to make profit off.
Basicly if you wait for keys to rise to resell them for metal, you're just wasting time.
People are obvs gonna try and get more for the keys and if they do keys will keep going up in my opinion they need to go down alot when they used to be about 4-5 ref
People try to get more out of any item. Those items raise because people get succesfull sales at higher prices then listed at backpack.tf
The exact same applies to keys, yet it is like, the only item people complain about this.
I think 7.55 is the more accurate version, as most sellers don't even sell for lower than 7.44

I had some 7.33's that were quick sold on Bazaar, I can provide proof of it when I get home, but I sold three within ten minutes on a site that isn't Outpost :/
http://bazaar.tf/trade/755958
All of these sold off within ten minutes of each other.
I think it's great that we have a range on the key prices. Also, your own proof tells me that 7.33-7.44 is still suitable.
Downvote and have a nice day.
I don't think you clicked a single link then. All of his provided proof points to 7.44 due to buyers at that price. Every single 7.33 link shown was quick sold to prove it shouldn't be in range.
saw a guy buying for 8ref in a trade server last night... (please don't mob me :c )
what the hell is he doing?
succeeding :u
Your post in the previous suggestion (i did not read it) was probbably hidden because it had no relevancy to the suggestion, but rather to why keys are rising or the effects of them. The comments on a suggestion should be relevant to the proof or experience in buying/selling said item.
I know people can edit their posts, but that does not really apply to this suggestion. The buyers are buying for the price they currently listed and what they were buying at when they started doesn't really matter. I got my sellers by trade.tf and they all opened their tf2outpost trades within 24 hours of me making this suggestion and i checked if their text on their trade did not differ with the text on trade.tf.
kk, but I just wanna ask people who wanna vote in this suggestion to make sure that each proof is valid or not and do not consider the links that contains such things (when we can see "added" but not sure what price was actual when this "added" has written).
Its too hard buying at 7.33 via outpost. So i am buying for 7.44 for about a week with mediocre success. Bought about 20 keys at that price and bought a few at 7.33 on trade server. 7.33 is still a hard find though.
The evidence to this seems gd enough, upvote
Seems about right, I am currently keeping tabs on a keybot I deal with and it is buying at 7.44, would be interesting to see how long this inflation will last though, considering the new strangifiers require 3 ref now.
Majority of the solds are 7.44 so I think it should be 7.44 flat
as a person with more than 100 keys, i upvote nyaah nyaah nyaah.
however my upvote is based on the proof.
Because thats totally how things work, lets make the price of things how they were 10 years ago, i want my burgers to be 2$ and i want to buy a house when it was cheapest not the high priced stuff now because im a greedy person.
And I don't want to fork out $50+ to fill up my truck with gas when its running on empty
This is talked about in the forums.
Your explanation can be found here.
http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/6090-the-one-and-only-key-price-topic/
Thanks man :)
You should care about the proof.
If we didn't have items priced with proof, backpack.tf would probbably be seen as bad a spreadsheet.
It is, anyways.
take it to the forums eh?
don't only use the sites, people always want overpay on sites like tf2 outpost or backpack.tf. try going to a trade server and buy keys for 7.33, you'll get trade request fast
I did go on a trade server and didn't manage to buy any for 7.33, part of the reason i looked into it.
funny in trade server is really not that hard to buy keys for 7.33 ref, maybe we need to wait a couple of days until we change the price
true, i still see quite a few selling at 7.33
but still see a few more mass buy-for-less-&-sell-for-more people that just want to make profit
if we subtract every single one of the mass key sellers/buyers then we will have a more accurate price range
thats not all that uncommon if you have played tf2 for a while and/or if you spend all of your money on keys
I still think that Bots and any post where the poster is buying for less then hes selling for should not count as proof - There should be more proof then just outpost as well. But 7.33 is still reasonable and 7.44 is just too soon, downvote
I am on the fence on this one, I can pick up keys no problem on servers and now and again on Outpost.
Keys are still possible to get @ .33 and I see there not being a problem with the price that it is now....33-.44
I also would not say that .33 is a quicksell, its more of what do you want to get, if that 1 scrap is not a large deal then sell @ .33 if it is .44.
Of corse taking the lower end of the price is going to result in a faster sell, but @ what point do we say that .33 is not a quicksell, its trade price...
Just my 2 cents...
eh... im not sure
price varies on trade servers and websites
pretty easy to get a key for 7 ref on a server, but put a 7 ref key on outpost and u will get 100 adds within the space of a minute....
http://tf2finance.com/keys/
Current average price is 7.37 refined, which is actually less than the current suggested price of 7.33-7.44 (~7.39).
Neutral.
Its still possibel to even buy keys for 7.11 on outpost. I just have my key buying trade up and bumped it a little bit and I bought 4 of them, Idk why I got the sales but oke cant complain :p (Proof: http://gyazo.com/ac2a1d9e9163c5c647e2ea99160003d1 (that was my most recent one)
http://i.imgur.com/FoVayV3.png Bought 12 keys for 92 ref (7.66 each). All the bots and sellers for lower were out of stock. If anything, this seems too low.
I'd have to disagree, 7.44 seems ok but 7.66 is too high of a price right now.
Don't worry though, I can see a 7.66 price in 2 weeks.
Maybe even 1 week actually.
On the other hand, doesn't that prove that the current price is even too low?
Mabey if we keep the price stable for longer people will sell for lower?/
btw nice proof
Its not the sellers, its the sales and buyers, if so many people are buying for higher then bp.tf price and saler occur at higher (as it is right now) that suggest it shouldnt be in the price range.
if we get rid of all the mass key buyers that buy for less and sell for more just to make profit, we will have a more accurate suggestion, but currently thats all the proof we have
That isn't what he means, at least I think it isn't.
When you have a selling trade up for higher than bp.tf price, the item doesn't disappear from the seller's possession, there's a willing buyer who wants that key, and is more than willing to pay extra for it. By doing this, both the seller and buyer agree that what they paid is a fair price on both ends, thus creating proof which we use to create suggestions. If you want to stop the people that buy low and sell high on keys, then check their trades first and see what they do to get those keys. It's in your hands to control key prices.
The market is in no way crashing. Also keys have already risen (buyers/sales at higher then bp prices), backpack is just trying to prove the price.
"or good accuracy"
So you are basicly saying that backpack.tf should not be accurate, what would the point of this website be then?
ye I think though you can retain the 7.44 as the upper end you should also keep the 7.33 at the lower at least so I'm gonna have to downvote and remain with the last suggestion.
Any reason why then? You can't just say what you "should" do without providing proof. Show us that 7.33 doesn't sell fast enough to be considered a quicksell and should still be in range then.
Eh 7.33 isn't that uncommon on trade servers, but go on Outpost or Backpack.TF classifieds, and WABAM 7.33 and below, heck even 7.44 is snatched up quick. I reckon that 7.33 should still be in the range, as, reiterating what I stated before, 7.33 is commonly found in trade servers.
Woops thought this was my main lol
If this starts getting up voted like crazy, I better start stockpiling keys.
thats the logic of everyone who buys keys, other than the people who actually unbox (crazy people)
It's not worth it to buy keys and wait for the price to rise. Assuming you have 100 refined and you buy keys at 7.66, you could only buy 13 keys. And assuming it takes a week for them to rise, you're only making 1.44 profit over a full week. If you use those refined metals to quickbuy and resell hats, like I do, then you make around 2-5 refined a day if you trade right.
nice proofs

People may sell keys for more than they are worth but thats just how it has always been, you cant just up the price every time someone wants more that its worth, in the past few years keys have gone from 2.33 to 7.33 thats a huge jump, buds are now 20 keys not 30, all becuase people are asking more than they are worth. i belive if we keep its stable for a long period of time the price should start to fall and there is too much competition in the market for them.
There are 10,000 more keys in just one month higher player ownership distributions. Therefore the market might be considered saturated. There is no way prices should keep going up.
Good proof and considering keys are hard to get for 7.33 i upvoted
The only post here with substantial proof is by Kodorin who adds a large number of 7.44 buyers. In 5 days, not really seeing any substantial counterproof. Proof in its totality seems fairly strong and it has the community support.
