Unusual Suggestion Cheat Sheet:
Part 1. What is valid proof?
Sales
Sales older than 2 months old are not valid proof;

You can use sales that are 3 months old, they just can't be older than that.
lets just agree that the 2nd sale is too old eh?
right okay so in the face of a written rule stating they must be 2 months or younger, you're just gonna say 3 with no basis.
The worst thing is you're probably right, a mod will probably tell me 3 months is fine if the hat was last priced on a friday by a user who had not eaten cheese for 2 weeks. That kind of thing seems to happen a lot. Any attempt at clarity such as the cheat sheet i'm quoting ends up with people telling me otherwise.
I know 3 months because whenever I make suggestions I ask the mods and they allow 3 month old sales. I know by facts and from the people who made those rules. I even had suggestions pass with 3 month old priced hats and sales. Stop whining and spamming this poor guys trade, go ask the forums or a mod if you don't believe me.
then please god why does it say 2 in the guide? why is a mod writing one thing as a guide and telling you another thing in actual suggestions? I'm not mad at you btw I just can't understand how badly this site does at helping users understand the rules it is governed by.
It is 2 months, especially for new effect hats that change a lot in 2 months. We sometimes allow sales up to 3 months for rare hats without more recent sales.
Not sure if you saw my comment to SSJ, but you are correct. The rules do say 2 months or younger. We will occasionally make exceptions on extremely rare hats with no other sales in the last 2 months and go as far back as 3 months. But these have to be old effect hats with no other recent sales.
The rules are just as stated in the guide. I had considered writing a full guide (it was 10+ pages long before I was done), about a full explanation, rationale, and list of exceptions for every rule because there are exceptions to every rule. But I decided against publishing something that massive as I'm not sure it would really add much value.
At the end of the day, we try to base decisions off common sense with the set of rules created as a guideline to create a certain standard for unusual suggestions.
Did you even keep reading?
"If there have only been 1-2 sales in the last 3 months, a trade up to 3 months old is okay to use as proof to establish more data points."
But the 2nd sale seems to be 3.5 months ago, so meh. Neutral
I understood "okay to use as proof to establish more data points" that to mean older than 2 months is not okay to set a range by, but it can be used to establish possible outliers, in addition to recent sales, in order to clarify where the range should be.
anyway it's clearly sold a lot more than twice in the last 2 months.
