Yeah but the guy who got scammed was the first owner of the hat. The sale at 1 bud has been done by the suggester later :

That doesn't really matter, he thought it was clean, I thought it was clean. He offered 2.5 for it, and he didn't know it was clean or not.

How is he supposed to give proofs if he had the only one in the world ? Technically he just can't give proofs ...
If he can't give proof, then don't make a suggestion
You need proof regardless if it is the only one in the world, ps there are 2 of them. Also he did not unbox the hat, if you look at his backpack and look at the item history he bought the hat, therefore he could provide some proof as to how much he bought it for but it still would not be enough proof.
Friend gave it to me as a birthday present, hence no cost.
Listen. If you're going to suggest a hat, wait until there's proof. Making a suggestion that has NO proof will just make someone else have to resuggest it later.
