I'm putting up this suggestion based off of my experience in trading these items in the last week.

At 3 refined it's a quick sell. If you're not there in 10 minutes it's gone.

I'm already making the sales. (Proof at bottom) It's no skin off my back if this doesn't go through.

The ones who would benefit from this suggestion are those traders who's price research doesn't go past backpack.tf. Those guys who list their items "High end backpack.tf" and never think twice about what other traders are selling them for.

Thanks to everyone for viewing this price suggestion. Feel free to post counter evidence or comments below.

There may be none left cause I'm using them for my strange scotch savers >.>

On a different note, I would definitely try and find more on 5 from others. Oh, here's a quicksell too. http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/20492621

so your solds consist of :

    You overpaying.

No. it's me selling Scotch Savers for 5 refined each.

Overpaying and trying to use doublespeak and empty "honor among thieves" style epithets and other excuses for why overpaying and begging anyone else who's benefiting from the gouge is somehow a chore. It's pretty obvious who the main supporters of this upvote are (others who benefit from it).

I do have to give them a little credit for the lengths they've gone to do this...although the Machiavellian way it's being done leaves a bitter aftertaste.

would really help if you could find some confirmed sales from other people

Whoops thought I added my own trades.

I agree a range would be better but there's too few middle trades for anything but a 3-5 range and that range is just horridly wide.

I tried this before and even then the 3-4 felt too wide with little evidence to support 4 Refined.

I've sold plenty to make me believe that 5 Refined is the price. The only people who do sell for 3 Refined are people who don't check past backpack.tf.

Those 5 ref sellers need to sell quickly in order for them to be in the range and for the amount of buyers at 3, it should. I'd wait for a few more sales so that we can see what happens but either way, you could say my proof is sufficient at 5 ref.

well if there's that many people buying at 3, I'd probably leave 3 out of the range entirely. but there doesn't seem to be quite enough people buying for 5 to make that a solid price.

Also I wasn't sure if listing buyers would help that much.

                  Of course it does.

I've added your proof to the list Thank you for that. I know even Bazaar doesn't have trades that aren't a month old and the few that wound up on the classifieds are either painted or sold.

I've had to race, struggle and haggle to even get the few that I have and up till yesterday I was the only one trading these items. (Apart from the occasional backpack.tf priced one who's presence was akin to a leaf in the wind. Here one moment. Gone the next,

I support. I bought mine at 5 ref

                  Proof would help.

Downvote entirely, you are taking out 3 ref out the range, meaning 3 ref isn't happening which clearly has, if the range was 3-5 ref, then it would be ok, but atm, downvote.

3 Refined is a quick sell and making the range a full 3-5 is just too wide in my opinion. With little to no proof for 3.33-4.00 I've opted for the one which I know sells.

                    I'd suggest a range.

When something sells this fast I'd beg to differ http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/21070460

Do as you like, it is only a suggestion.

I'm putting this up for the benefit of the other traders. I'm already making sales and if this doesn't go through all it means is that I'll be able to restock a little bit cheaper.

Bought that guys for 3 ref, if i sell mine at 5 u have mah upvote

You'll be one of 6 sellers on Outpost and the only one on classifieds if it's clean. You stand a decent chance ;)

I recommend you put it up on Outpost as well. There's more buyers there in my experience.

This item has also limited market. There is NO sellers below 5 refs. And some 5 refs sold here http://backpack.tf/vote/id/53bd45014cd7b8d1098b4568

The only range I can see is a 5 refs - 1 key without sold proof for 1 key ... so , Upvote

Anything below 5 carry the characteristics of a quicksell. They're never up for more than a few hours unless the poster doesn't update the trade.

On it being a limited market, it definitely is. 3 Days back you would have been lucky to find one that wasn't painted, setted or leveled. I had to scrounge through 3 sites to get any stock of them at all.

Another sold at 5 refined http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/21049709

Classic price manipulation. "I have four and, based on my experience of making people overpay, I'd like to justify my greed." DOWN

I have 5 now. If it wasn't for steam forgetting my pc I would have a good few less. Even with a note on my trades explaining the predicament I've had 2 offers for scotch savers. I had to remove them from the trade to stop the invites.

Whether or not a price suggestion goes through the market moves on but I'm sure an avid trader such as yourself knows that.

Although I'd figure the adjective "avid" is sarcasm on your part...it's hardly correct. I'm simply a disabled, 30 year old tarantula breeder who likes playing this cartoonish game when I have some free time. However; I do have a bit of insight into how marketing works...and, frankly, a post starting with "I'm basing this on my week of gouging" (granted, I'm paraphrasing ;) ) is almost always going to be somebody looking to manipulate the price of something they're hoarding and/or selling rather luckily.

Now I can see why being able to wring the extra few digital cents out of each buyer would lead you to believe it needs a price jump...but, ultimately, it's just a good run. I'm sure you'll have something to say in response to this post as well (as you've been relatively verbose and/or swift in terms of correspondence) but I've said my peace. Ultimately the votes will say more than I ever could.

Yes, the vote for speak for itself. I'm certain my facts are right in this. I've done my research. I don't make a price based off selling one or two. I've sold almost a dozen in less than half a dozen days. Trying to buy one at 3 refined is a race against time. Normally I find myself paying 3.33-3.66 just to keep grab their attention. I'm still beat at times. Some people offer 4 where the trader only asks for 3. That speaks volumes to me in terms of supply and demand. People offer to buy these at 5 refined. That tells me that people want this item.

I'm not some gruby newling making excuses to up the price and thinking it will benefit me. They don't. These's price suggestions are a chore to make. I can't understand why people bother making them sometimes. I'd much prefer simply trading and keeping my mouth shut about the goings on in the market. Why invite competition and kill off my source of cheap replacement stock.

Ignorance is bliss they say. Why should I worry if someone is happy for selling at 3? Why should I care if they don't do research past backapck.tf? Their loss is my gain. If this goes through then it will be difficult for me to restock again. Where will I ever find one for less that 5 again?

My reasons for doing this is simple

Their's honour amongst thieves. We bargain for higher prices when we can but the community as a whole isn't looking to take every scrap you have. The existence of this site is proof enough of that. I want to contribute to the community as a whole. These price suggestions are my way of doing so because I'm a scrooge and a lazy scrooge at that. I've only ever made suggestions in items I myself have had experience trading.

We all are trading for our own gain. No one NEEDS these items. The game gives you everything you need to be a competitive player right from the start. A hat worth a dozen buds won't make you a better player. It just makes your character stand out and look different from the hundred other clones running about,

A weapon that counts how many kills you've had doesn't improve your aiming. It just tells other players how many people you've killed.

Really there's no need for the market itself to even exist. Yet without it TF2 wouldn't be so popular as it is today.

Sold mine for 5 ref in 1 day. You should check the proof before claiming this is manipulation

Haha Glad to hear it ^^ Could you add proof of it to the trade as well please?

Spoken like someone else who's benefiting from said manipulation ;). The proof seems a touch weak to me and, as someone else said, consists mainly of others who have gladly paid 3+ in order to turn around and sell them at the "new" price.

Economics are simple...just because there's "proof" that people will pay inflated prices doesn't mean it isn't manipulation/gouging/etc. If you don't believe me just try to buy some gasoline after a major disaster or during a holiday weekend.

Economics is far from simple. Didn't you say you knew about marketing?

Lad this isn't taking advantage of someone in need. No one needs these items. It's all based on want. They could have ignored the trades on items that's over backpack price. No one's forcing them to buy beards but when people are willing to pay the price for items offered it means the market's moving on. It may bounce back to 3 refined in a month or so. Perhaps it will continue to rise. Who knows? That's the nature of the market.

Already from this simple suggestion the Scotch Saver market has changed considerably. Buyers are spoiled for choice. Where it goes from here only time would tell.

Again even if it doesn't go through I'm happy with the results.

                                Not convincing.

                                  http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/21138584 - 4 ref

There are a lot of sales happening at 3 ref still - most sales are happening at that value. Yes, they sell fast, but I think a wide range of 3-5 ref will have to do. Given the votes, just can't pass this one through.
