Hey everybody,

This baby has a year old price of was accepted with 0 confirmed sales.

http://backpack.tf/vote/id/51a21b9eba2536073c00000a There's the previous suggestion if you'd like to check that out.

It mentions a single sale but as you can see: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/8028272 this item was never sold.

Current backpack: http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197999817152 Item history: http://backpack.tf/item/696402020

So where do we stand? We've got a hat that was wrongly, and barely (59.32% with a total of 59 votes) passed. "But 90's, Flies are icky!"

I know, kid, I know! But they're also a first gen effect on a heavily underappreciated hat such as the Ketche.

"Well, anyone can get one of these, 90's..." Really? Well, let's take a look at that now.

Here are all of the current owners of this hat:

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198004377035 / Hatrix

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197999817152 / wbjunky

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198054565967 / rose

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198005112527 / Hebrew Melvin

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197986659307 / JiminySnicket

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198063054711 / avīci

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198045631783 / A Daewoo Lanos

"Wait, there are only Seven names there, 90's!" That's right friends, Seven. Even though Backpack shows a total of six! There are actually Seven. At least one of which hasn't even signed onto steam in over 120 days and another: Our pal Hebrew Melvin who so tastefully put it: "JESUS CHRIST PEOPLE YOU CANNOT HAVE MY BEE HAT STOP ADDING ME TO ASK. BEE HAT NOT FOR SALE.... EVER." That wasn't a private message guys. That's on his account Bio! (http://steamcommunity.com/id/Japanusrelations/ (Just in case you want it for proof)) And A Daewoo Lanos isn't selling his any time soon under ANY circumstances! But we also have three other owners either unavailable, unresponsive or uninterested in selling theirs.

So here we are fellas. The main event! Firstly, let's look at the most recent sale of this hat which was on July 8th on the

Steam community market for the price of $45 dollars. Sold by one 0li0li ( http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561197984094862 ) to one

Hatrix (Cited above) http://www.tf2outpost.com/backpack/76561198004377035 (Hatrix' Outpost backpack to confirm item history (Page 12))

And of course: http://imgur.com/a/lg6al (A nice image gallery showing the item on the market sale list with date and price as well as an image of the item in Hatrix' steam inventory with it's new name.) So, the last sale was for $45 on market which netted a total profit of $39.14

after steam taxes which sets the worth approximately at 1.1-1.2 buds (or 39-45 dollars)

So, in closing: We've got a bogus price from the previous vote, six of seven owners are now either unwilling or unable to sell or trade

their hats, and our latest sale was for $45 dollars on the community market. It's about time we give this hat the valid price it deserves guys.

Well, good fortune and happy trading,

90's

I know it was fun and all, but keep the suggestions from being so wordy. It's easier to read when you just get straight to the solds. We don't need to know about the current owners of a hat ;)

But in general you need sales that don't involve the steam market, it isn't considered good proof, it's more of a support kind of proof. Also, in order to have a range you need two sales.

      Hmmm...

Perhaps you should take a look at the previous suggestion.

There was absolutely no legitimate proof other than a "Sale" for a hat that was never sold.

Then again, perhaps ignorance is bliss. Either way, cheers mate.

Exactly what am I manipulating and where approximately am I profiting from said manipulation?

I would just like to know so I can clear up any misconceptions.

I honestly have no idea where the solds are in that.

      Needs moar TL;DR

Seriously, you don't need to write so much.

His only sale is $45 on the steam market.

If you can find another sale prior to this sale on the community market feel free to share that information friend.

It's probably around the area where I talk about the hat being sold.

If you don't want to read, why not just paste the suggestion into a nice free text to speech program.

Yeah I don't think the steam community market is valid proof.

And keys are worth what they're currently selling for in the Steam Market, not what they sell for in irl money. They're different.

Your correct range would be 16-18 Keys(rounding up), and as I said, SCM doesn't really count as valid proof fo unusuals.

Downvoting, and try to make shorter suggestions next time.

Well, Mindacos, if you have any recent records of any of the other six being sold off the community market or AT ALL, please feel free to share that information as I clearly didn't investigate... Hard enough?

Anyway, if no sales are better evidence than a sale on the market, there's a problem with the system.

Well why not let this remain at it's current price for now and wait until one of those actually ends up for sale? Or wait until another one gets unboxed maybe.

Sure, this might or might not be the real price for the flies ketche, but it might have to remain at this price until one gets sold for any other method.

And I agree, the ketche is underrated.

That's all well and good, but to say the the ONLY evidence of a sale within the past YEAR is invalid because it was done on the community market is ignorant. As for another one being put up for sale, other than Hatrix, all the other owners are either 100% out of the trading game or REFUSE to sell under any circumstances. And clearly one or more people were messaging Hebrew Melvin in an attempt to purchase his which drove him to post on his BIO that it wasn't for sale. EVER. As for unboxing, the more hats/effects are released, the lower that chance we ever see a Flies Ketche #8.

Actually, SSJ5, with all due respect...

It honestly looks like I followed the rules near perfectly.

Important things to note before getting started:

              (2) There are inevitably exceptions to almost every rule listed. If such an exception is warranted, a mod will comment with a rationale. This is meant to be a general guideline with the basic rules.

              Exception 2: Rare Hats

Any hat can be priced based on a single sale if ALL these criteria are met:

              - There are no other recent sales in the last 3 months

              - The effect is not a summer 2013 effect. (robo, 2013 halloween effects can be used as they are often rarely traded and rarely unboxed)

              - The hat went to a collector or person who intends to keep the hat. A collector can be identified by looking at the person's trade history, item history of similar unusuals in the backpack OR if the owner has not resold the hat 1 month after the sale occurred.

              Cash Trades / Market Transactions

Avoid market transactions as proof. Feel free to include the sale in your suggestion (as a general reference), but do not rely on it to set your range. These transactions are not reliable because the selling and buying price is different due to the steam tax.

(Which I did use a market transaction as my primary proof, but that's the only sale within a 3-6 month period.)

(I also gave the total profit after steam and game tax. (Being $39.14))

              4) How Should Backpack.tf be used

See when the suggestion of an item was accepted. If the price was just accepted its probably pretty accurate.

If it was accepted a while ago, look on Outpost and see what people are asking, and what they are actually getting (Yes, there is a BIG difference between asking and acutally selling)

Backpack.tf prices are a GUIDE. Do not take them as a definite price. Do your own research. Backpack.tf's purpose is to help you get a general idea of an items worth without spending time trying to figure out its exact price.

              Am I missing anything?

You too have completely ignored the exceptions. Read polar's comment below.

I don't really have an issue with pricing off this sale since there probably won't be another usable sale in a long time. However, I'm not so sure about your conversion of the sale value to buds. I think Mindacos is right that a range of 16-18 would work better.

The buyer paid ~18 keys worth for the $45

The seller would get 16 keys worth if he converted the $39 he received for keys.

A range of 16-18 would probably work. If I close this, you'll be down to -21 points of rep, so I'm leaving this up for you to close. Vote on suggestions or just wait for your rep to return to 0 and feel free to resuggest.

                  -21? i thought only -5 were possible :0
