This suggestion was marked as bad evidence and closed by neverclever.

There should always be enough evidence to back up the new proposed value. However, it appears that the evidence is not strong enough, or cherry-picked in a way that does not represent the actual market value of the item. Therefore, this suggestion has been closed.

Message left by moderator:

As other commentors have pointed out, there is not enough evidence here for a price decrease. Not only do most of the listed links only have 1 key available (which quickly sold), but the "unsolds" are all key resellers whose trade volume is impossible to gauge from comments (and several of which are closed anyway).

Key suggestions need to have more proof posted while they are up in order to provide as clear a picture as possible. There is simply not enough here to accept this decrease.

This is good proof! I still buy them for 7.11refine so upvote

Yea 7.33 is a pretty stable price for now.

And as for the proof the "sellers below 7.33" there some for 7.33, separating that can be helpful unless you did that on purpose

maybe and maybe not you will never know Mr. Nano

lol no such thing as stable keys

That's why they said "stable price for now."

I've been buying keys at the suggested price for a long time. Upvote.

Just when you thought keys were stable. Good proof.

If anything this'll make it more stable (or actually a reflection of its own stableness, as the case may be). I'm gonna go ahead and predict that, if this suggestion passes, it'll stay for another week. Maybe two.

Should be 7.22-7.33 since that's what people are paying and selling at. Another suggestion was placed earlier this week and never got approved. I think it got pulled eventhough the user supplied almost 300 links with proof of sold for 7 and even lower at 6.66 and 4.33 yes even those crazy prices.those are quicksells of course but should've been 7 refs at least a couple of weeks ago.

I sell 6 keys/per day for 7.44. Why are you people talking about 7.11-7.22 when keys are being sold every day 7.44...... Key prices must be reasonable and I guess 1 scrap isn't that big deal. Why is everyone so furious about 1 scrap? The proof is good tho and I'll upvote for that.

              I sold a key for 2.33! XDXD

If you're serious then you made a really bad deal.

Its not for "deal" or "profit" lol

You're still an idiot for doing so then coming to brag about it on here.

The person more than likely turned around and sold it for 7.33 anyways.

                        Use the full statement.

"You're still an idiot for doing so then coming to brag about it on here."

There's nothing wrong with selling something piss cheap to be generous, but as he states it, he comes off as wanting to be proud that he sold something for so little, which you don't do if you're trying to be truly charitable.

That is true, that is true :P

I was thinking the same. He/She shouldn't have bragged about it. Haha

No, I sold the key for 2,44 ref

Since it's not for the deal or profit, sell me your other keys for 2.33

I would like to see solds at 7.33. i can't seem to find sellers at 7.33 currently, and they are insta purchased off of the classifieds.

Plenty of sellers at 7.33, upvote

Seems good, but some solds would be even better

7.33 is the most common price for keys, I've seen some for 7.22 and some for 7.44 but 7.33 is definitely the main trading price for it. Upvote.

http://tf2finance.com/keys/ -Currently exactly at 7.33, though it'll probably fluctuate up or down a bit depending on when you read this.

As you can see for yourself, 7.44 sales are much less than 7.33.

Tf2 finance is also saying 7.33 ref http://tf2finance.com/keys/

http://www.trade.tf/ saying 7.22 ref at the moment.

Sales at 7.33 and sellers at 7.33 are much higher than any other prices.

                                Just putting it out.

                                Makes the Mods think ;)

                                  Hahaha... True true :P

Why did you double post this same links? o.o

                                  Idk.......

Meh. Not sure how you cherry pick your proof but I have been selling keys for 7.44+ very easily.

http://i.imgur.com/NUNpEby.png (22 keys total, 15 of them sold in a time span of 30 minutes for 7.44 each)

Most of the sellers were selling a single key and they sold it pretty quickly. There are multiple bots buying for 7.33 ref right now. (e.g. bots.tf can buy 300+).

While 7.33 is happening, 7.44 is happening in large quantities as well. Current range is fine.

As far as I know, tf2 finance and trade.tf have never been wrong about current ongoing price. 7.44 is not happening a lot actually compared to 7.33 ref. Look at my proof above. I provided the "last 10 hours" of trades that have been done and all I found was bunch of 7.33 ref sellers and 7.33 ref sales. 7.33 is occurring way too much than any other price, well at the moment at least. Both tf2 finance and trade.tf are confirming that as well. Things might change later but it looks like at the moment 7.33 ref seems to be dominating even though they sell fast.

Also, backpack.tf is not after what sales fast and what doesn't. Backpack.tf is after most common trading point. Keys will sell above and below price all the time and nobody can deny that.

I don't know how trade.tf and tf2f gets their numbers so I'm not going to judge that.

I'm still waiting for convincing proof that 7.44+ is happening in smaller quantities. I have already posted my own valid counter-proof which is not based on assumptions.

Hmm... Seems reasonable. I will post a whole new "last 10 hours" again and will see what exactly is happening the most. Last time I posted that, I couldn't find much outside 7.33, all I could find are 7.33 sales or sellers.

Also, restocking my 7.44 easily at 7.11, sold 2 at 7.44.

I have not had problems selling above 7.33 (my solds from yesterday, adds are from classifieds listings)

I want the value of keys to crash and burn as much as anyone, it is just still possible to sell at above 7.33

For anyone leaving proof at 7.55 or higher .. it doesn't matter ; the question here is does the supply @ 7.33 outweight the 7.44 supply; EVERYTHING else is an outlier. With every item that's priced; there's outliers - be it at 1 or 2 scrap higher or lower. They do not count; bp.tf focuses on the majority.

Trade: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/21991492 on the list, is my trade, and it has been getting quite a lot of interest... 2 or 3 trades a day, not 'unsold for 3 days' Because, I am buying AND selling keys, meaning my stock, limited it may be, doesn't run out.

                                      http://imgur.com/QTGYZnI

also, almost all of the 'unsold' trades are bots, with large stock, meaning they haven't sold ALL of their stock.

So let the key price become outdate is a good idea, right?

                                                    peace.

@theguynextdoor backpack.tf just lists the current prices for TF2 items. The votes are decided by the community, so if suggestions pass, it means that the majority of voters think that the price should be updated. In this world, majority rules.

You didn't get upset when keys prices were goin' up every 3 days :v

Our bots are buying at 7.33, and selling at 7.55 with no problem. All those 7.33 sellers are welcome to trade with us if they have trouble finding buyers.

Looking at the classifieds, there are plenty of 7.44s.

7.33-7.44 is the most accurate range for now, there's no need to change it. In fact, it seems to me like they're beginning to rise again.

                                                  Please stop making unnecessary suggestions.

                                                    This, so much this.

If you look at the classifieds, you notice that they are being dominated by a few people selling multiple keys at the same price. Therefore, the classifieds don't necessarily classify in this scenario.

I would also like to point out that something that Mr. Giang said in this thread that "Being possible =/= most common trading point"

"For example, if there are a 100 sales at 1.33 and 1 at 1.66, you wouldn't price it at 1.66 flat even if 1.33 sells in an hour." - polar

EDIT: Just checked tf2 finance and trade.tf, both sites are in concurrence that 7.33 is the best price for keys. Those sites tend not to be wrong.

I would have to agree with this, the number of keys i can sell at 7.44 vastly exceeds the number i can purchase at 7.33. I am getting no more adds of people selling at 7.33 and i have to camp outpost just to get a couple keys at 7.33. even then, half the time, i am beaten (7.33 keys often sell in less than one minute after bump)

7.33 is a very common price, but i have been selling keys for 7.44 and have gotten 4 adds for the keys just today so i think that the 7.33-7.44 price range seems to be working

And how long did/does it take you to sell your keys?

it varies from none to 5 a day, I generally run out of inventory before the day is over, but i'd say I could probably sell a consistent 3-4 a day assuming that I keep bumping every half-hour, which I tend to be fairly lax on

7.33 seems to sell a bit *too* quickly, I got 7 trade offers for a key in less than 30 seconds of posting. There are plenty of bots buying at this price as well.

7.44 may not be quite as common, but I wouldn't call it an outlier either at this point. In my experience, it's harder to find/buy keys at 7.33 than it is to sell them at 7.44.

The current range still seems very accurate (in my experience, at least), so I'm going to have to downvote this.

I would not think that 7.33 "sells too quickly" when the bulk of the key sales (and the links) is at the 7.33 range.

Keep in mind that the price should reflect bot sales as well, most of the links @ 7.33 are individual sellers with a much lower volume.

I suggest you look at the links I am providing above every 10 hours or so.

why hasn't the suggestion been accepted/closed yet? its been open for 2 days, by the time it may be accepted, alot of the evidence gets old, and the situation may have changed....

ok but shouldn't it be practically impossible to sell at 7,44ref to justify removing it from range? Just asking don't bite my head off please. Not sure yet about this one

No, as long as there is proof that 7.33 is the most commonly traded point, of course you will have sales at 7.44 and you'll definitely see sales at 7.22 or lower, there's no doubt about it.

sure I get that I'm just not so sure 7,44 can be taken as such. I had a key up for 7,55 just for the hell of it.Changed it to 7,44 and in seconds got 3 offers. Accepted one and removed the listing. It seems to me you have to be pretty lucky to get a key at 7,33 this days.

maybe that's just my shitty luck though :)

Could you please support proof to back up your claim? I would also like to reaffirm bb Der Handler's statement that 7.33 is the most commonly traded point. 7.44 is possible, no one is denying that, but it is not nearly as common as 7.33 refined is.

Sorry I just realized I left out the date and the buyer. If you need me to make a new screen I can do that and add other two offers too. If I go only by the proof added I'm totally with you but I can't ignore my own experience.

I've found recently it nearly impossible to get keys at 7.33 and extremly hard at to obtain at 7,44 too. I found a seller for 7.33 who put up the trade on outpost and it was sold within the minute. The Great Key drop it over

Sold 6 keys yesterday total for 7.44 each very quickly after updating my outpost trade.

I like how people before used to bitch about keys going up. Now it's the other way around. WHAT WILL MAKE YOU PEOPLE HAPPY?!

                                                                  Anywho, upvote.

Because it's taken so long to accept this suggestion, it seems that 7.44 is once again becoming just as viable as 7.33. If you look at the classifieds now, there are only a couple for 7.33, even though it was almost a full page just a few days ago.

Your proof is good, but I'm going to have to downvote as it's become outdated.

It becomes outdated because this suggestion's still not accepted.

That is exactly what I said in my post, so I have to ask: What's the point of yours?

it is just so hard to obtain some keys with 7.33...,

I have seen several selling at 7.22 on trade servers and have bought quite a few at 7.33. Just my comment on this.

I'm about to go to sleep :/

But if i remember ill post a screenshot where i sold 10 keys for 7.44-7.55(cant remember which) each yesterday on the 26th august

scrap.tf sells keys for 7.44 and they are all sold out. If that does not tell you anything then nothing will. This suggestion will probably be closed just like other suggestion to drop keys to 7.22 - 7.33. If something still sells for a price then why remove it from the range? The only reason to drop them to 7.33 flat would be if 7.44 was not longer possible which is obviously still very possible and the whole fact that they can sell for more then 7.44 should tell you something.

Edit: I put a key up for 7.44 to test the market and it sold in less then 7 minutes on outpost.

Bots don't count as proof, only support.

Like I said on the last part I put one up for trade for 7.44 and it sold in minutes.

                                                                                  ah. Sorry.

I have to agree. Every seller at 7.33 is either sold out or will be sold out within 1-5 minutes of bumping on outpost. I put a single key on the classifieds 2 days ago at 7.44 and had 3 separate people (in addition to others) willing to buy the bulk of my keys

You need proof of sale, otherwise, we can't really believe you. Besides, as I have commented to others, it does not necessarily matter how quickly 7.33 sells, but rather that is is a more common trading point that 7.44 refined is.

Wow, seriously, backpack.tf is very biased when it comes to key price suggestions.

                                                                                  Note to staff:

I think you (backpack.tf) feel guilty for the rise of key prices happened 1-2 years ago, and now you're trying to make up for it. This is not good. When the keys were going down (rather inexplicably), it took you only a few hours to accept the suggestions. But it has already taken you 3 days to close this one. Please don't linger this any longer, and don't manipulate the market. All evidence suggests that the current range is more accurate than this suggestion.

no, you are. He has counter-evidence, and the proof in the suggestion is outdated.

                                                                                      backpack.tf is a website - it doesn't have feelings :)

my guess is the reason why this is still open is precisely because the market may be stabilizing. rushing one way or another would not be wise.

earlier it was claimed that finance was at 7.33 and trade.tf at 7.22

now finance is at 7.37 and trade.tf is at 7.33. keys have also gone up substantially on the community market. i for one think it's a good idea to wait when you may have reached a pivot in the trends.

Market prices have been like that for quite some time now.

you missed the boat then :)

Because people who make suggestions work for backpack.tf

I've never gotten any compensation for my 220+ accepted suggestions.

                                                                                            (sarcasm)

It wasn't easily apparent in your original post.

Yeah it's a problem sweeping the internet

                                                                                                  I feel for you

There is no bias towards suggestion, nor it is "feeling guilty" about the rise of key prices. The vast amount of keys available at 7.33 far outweighs the keys available for 7.44, to the point that 7.44 is looking to be a hard sell. And even if there are 7.44 sales, they are only being ticked off at 2 and 3 at a time.

The only people that are manipulating the market is the traders themselves. Traders have become jittery since the effect series were posted on crates, the bread boxes altering the worth of a craft hat, and a whole list of other variables. Right now, there is that anticipation that the bottom has not been reached yet, so if traders have the option of buying a key, they will be looking to the least expensive option there is.

And if we are going about the manipulation aspect, the only people who are really worried are the ones that have upwards of about 200 keys or more. Naturally, they will protest against the price of keys dropping, for you have people worried about a $20-$50 drop in their backpack value. They are the ones who will be most vocal against it, since they don't want their precious backpack dropping one cent more.

Nobody gives two shits about the price of keys except for key traders, people that can't afford keys, and people that commonly exchange between metal and keys.

The last group prefers them to be lower because it's easier, not because of keys being unaffordable. This is coming from someone who, in the past five months, has been in both the second and third groups and passed them both by.

By the time someone's amassed 200 keys (or 200 keys' worth of BP value), they should be aware of the fact that bp.tf has nothing to do with the actual price of keys, they just report them. Nobody in the past three suggestions has been "protesting" the drop in key prices. Some have made jokes about it, but that's about it. You only see a shitstorm when the prices go up because people that haven't been around long enough to know how backpack.tf works complain. These people also tend to fit into the second group, sometimes the third.

Kind of far fetched to think that "nobody" cares about the price of keys, because they basically act as pure payments, something that most traders, including unusual traders, want of an item.

And here, you are off topic. I was responding towards ocu's assessment that there was bias applied with the suggestion, when ample proof was applied, and commented on "manipulation" when there was none to begin with.

And it's not true that there is no shitstorm when a suggestion for lowering an item is suggested. THIS SUGGESTION IS A PRIME EXAMPLE. The reason why there are so many hidden comments against the people saying that they have sold for higher is because they do not bother to show proof in their claims that they have sold for 7.44 or higher, saying that "It's so hard to find keys at 7.33" without proving it.

Except that an unusual for 15 keys before is 15 keys now. The price of keys has no relevance to the cost of unusuals (or items) relative to keys. Strange Bonk Boys have been 4 keys for the past five months. Through the massive inflation in the price and the massive deflation, it NEVER changed. Items over a key are priced relative to keys, NOT ref. Unless you're trying to buy a Strange Bonk Boy with 29.33 ref (instead of 33.33 ref), the price of keys relative to it really doesn't have much relevance to the issue, because it has and does cost 4 keys.

And maybe you're not aware of what a shitstorm (or, for that matter, "protesting") is, but it's not people talking about what they've sold with no proof. Those are people arguing against it based on their experiences (like damned near every suggestion has), not a shitstorm or a protest. I don't know if you only started looking at key suggestions when the prices started dropping, but the comments section used to be filled with accusations, flaming, shitposting, and all sorts of stuff like that. It used to be a full time job for the mods every time someone posted a key suggestion to warn and hide posts that were nothing but bitching about the price of keys. I don't see how you can compare people not providing screenshots of their trades with people having to be warned for accusing backpack.tf of being run by greedy traders manipulating key prices.

Heck, I remember the first time keys went to 7 ref. There was a post on the Skial forums insisting that backpack.tf existed solely to manipulate prices for the traders running it, and a lot of comments in the suggestion (and the ones since) have followed that same line of thought ("STOP RAISING THE PRICE OF KEYS OMG" and "They're going to hide this post, but I don't care because blah blah greedy traders blah" were common in every key price increase suggestion). Nobody has accused the mods of that in any of the previous suggestions for lowering the price. The only accusation of it is from TWP, who doesn't like the fact that the mods are taking too long (in his view) to accept this and that they were manipulating the price before when they were raising it.

I was here when Long218 was spamming key suggestions and was bad mouthing anyone who did not think like him, and the huge debacle that happened when he was busted for knowingly buying carded keys, so I am quite aware of what a shitstorm is.

The reason why this suggestion is being largely debated is because you have people saying that they have sold for more (whilst providing no evidence), and suddenly there are sellers on Outpost trying to sell for a scrap or two higher because two or three little birdies said they could and did not provide evidence on this suggestion (which is not wise on such a volatile item). Unless these sellers can prove that they have sold a key at X price by posting evidence, the argument they provide is invalid.

You don't provide evidence that keys you were selling at X price, you should be called out for it. As it should be.

OR that's the way the market's going. Keys are going back up now that the panic is done. Believe it or not, not every trader's actions are dictated by the comments in a key suggestion. In case you didn't notice, the number of people in the classifieds selling for 7.33 has dropped from 10 to 2 simply because keys are on the rise again. Furthermore, the claim is doubly nonsensical because the first Husky, Thank You Based Gabe, and imFree, the first three people to post that they sold at 7.44, provided proof in their original posts.

Also, there are... what? 3 people saying they sold for 7.44 and haven't provided proof? 4? The vast majority of counterproof is actual counterproof or else valid arguments against the drop (such as scrap.tf being sold out of keys).

And, again, people stating their experiences on the price of items without proof is common to many suggestions and almost ALL commonly traded item suggestions. Look at the last accepted price suggestion for Uncraftable ToD tickets.

so sold 8 more keys at 7.44 ref just today, posted today, sold today, then I ran out of keys and still got 2 more adds for keys, trust me... 7.44 is still selling great in my experience

                                                                                            Proof, please.

Good proof! I found a lot selling for 7 ref and 7.11 so definitely needs drop :)

where are these people selling for 7 and 7.11 ref??

everyone i find selling for that sells out within seconds because its an extreme quicksale

because.. im the one whos stealing them

also, whats with the dislikes? i dint mean to harm anyone?

its ok bro i get dislikes too, i think they mad cause we have evidence that contradicts theirs.

i mean, honestly i'm having trouble finding keys for 7.33 before someone else nabs the deal

I'm just saying, I recently bought a couple keys for 7.11 quite easily:

                                                                                              http://prntscr.com/4h4ock

                                                                                              http://prntscr.com/4h4ozo

Not sure if this will help at all, but meh...

Those are 2 and 3 days old, when this suggestion was made some people thought it would go down further and started selling for those prices. If you find anyone selling for 7.11, that's a quicksell. But 7.22, or even 7.33 is a quicksell now.

Where is the basis of your proof to say that 7.33 is a quicksale though? You have none. It is clear given the proof that 7.33 is the most common trading point for these keys.

EDIT: Knavesmith, in this thread, brought up a good point.

"Sales will always occur outside of the backpack.tf price in both directions. When it comes to currency suggestions, we want to price it at the most commonly traded price

"While 7.33 may sell rather quickly, it's, like you said, steadily available and the most commonly traded at price.

7.44, while does happen sometimes, does not happen as much as 7.33 does.

7.33 seems to be the most commonly traded price at the moment."

Trust me, when you make over 1500 trades per day, you know what is a quicksale, and what is not. My words come from experience and observation. There are even some bots out there buying for 7.44 . In fact, someone should make a 7.44 suggestion in a few days, in order to represent an accurate price.

Trade.tf says 7.33 refined. Again, it doesn't matter how fast 7.33 sells because it is a great deal more common than 7.44 is.

Also, bots do not necessarily count as good proof.

The other times the drops were suggested, it was clear-cut. The only thing that stopped suggestions from happening earlier was the cooldown. In this case, not so much. People have provided quite a bit of counter-proof showing that 7.44 is still possible. I think the mods wanted to wait a while to see if the price drop speed was decreasing, keys were stabilizing, or the market was turning around. I think we're starting to see that it's the third.

Now that there's a fine piece a' work. -Red Engineer

I don't really want to bother with looking up proof, and I don't care that much either way, but I had 6 keys and put up a listing last night for them at 7.44, and I got 5 trade offers and one add when I came back from my shower. all but one offer was for the price I said (7.44 each) and one offer was for 5 of the keys, and so was the add (I sold to the add). I'll admit it's slower on outpost in my experience, as I had them listed for a day on there, but at least for bp.tf 7.44 doesn't go unsold as long as you're online.

You need proof to back up your claim, sir.

Nope, just the refined suggested price

Giang to open another one for 7.22-7.33 because it would be just be closed. This suggestion also won't get accepted because of counter proof and the fact that people and bots buy for 7.44 and up. inb4 haters downvote my comment...

Not long after that, though, prices started going up again. It has valid upvotes from when it was made, just that it's not entirely valid anymore.
