http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/20697619 2 month trade here (Sold for P.E. Whoopie, planets bonk, and 1.5 pure)

" If there have only been 1-2 sales in the last 3 months, a trade up to 3 months old is okay to use as proof to establish more data points. Keep in mind, new sales should take precedence over older ones." - http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/6033-new-unusual-price-suggestion-guide-the-cheat-sheet/

"Keep in mind, new sales should take precedence over older ones."

While true, it still doesn't deny the fact 2 sales have taken place within said time period, and that the older sale CAN be used to establish more data points. There could possibly be a range for this price. Downvote for now. That 2 month sale could possibly add up to 8.5 and 8.5-10 falls into the accepted .5 - 1.5 discrepancy for pricing

Why would a range be needed if the person bought it at a lower price and managed to sell it at a higher price and is more recent? That is the logic here of new sales taking precedence over older ones. If the person is able to sell it at a higher price, that price should be a more accurate representation of the item's value no?

Edit: Just so you know, there is no such thing as an accepted .5-1.5 discrepancy in pricing. Might want to get your facts right. It depends on the item's value. The higher the item's value, the greater the accepted range is. For instance, 1-3 buds is a large range while 4-6 buds is an ok range.

The point of pricing is to show what an item has been shown to sell for in the a recent time frame (ie. up 3 months depending on sales). While I agree with you, the rule is put into place so that people can't go willy nilly and try to be one sided when it comes to pricing an item. If you had two ~10 bud sales within this said time frame, I would just automatically assume the other sale an outlier because the 2 recent sales would support the 10.

            http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/7-how-to-create-a-good-unusual-price-suggestion/

" A 0.5-1.5 bud range is a good range for most unusuals."

But regardless, I'm not here to bicker. I'm just here giving you more proof, and it's still a downvote from me.

That is an old guide. It is no longer an accurate reference to be used. I hate to say this but having done 500+ unusual suggestions, i believe i have more experience than you.(No offense intended) Its fine if you want to downvote but please don't shove the rules in my face, i have read them.

Well then it is safe to say, the site needs to update their info. No offense taken, you do have more experience than me no doubt, but I guess I just assumed that with said experience you would have known that the 2 month old sale is usable and fair game.

This is the updated version http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/6033-new-unusual-price-suggestion-guide-the-cheat-sheet/

Examples of higher range = wider range is acceptable.

                  http://backpack.tf/stats/Unusual/Troublemaker's%20Tossle%20Cap/Tradable/Craftable/58 4-6 buds(2 buds range)

                  http://backpack.tf/stats/Unusual/Killer%20Exclusive/Tradable/Craftable/16 42-52 (10 buds range)

As already mentioned, if there is a new sale, it should be prioritized over older ones. For rare hats like this, it would be more appropriate to show what it most recently sold for rather than what it could've been available for sale 2 months ago.

Ok thanks for the heads up, and I concede on that .5-1.5 range comment now that I have seen that newer version.

Well then, in that case, according to that updated version and I quote:

                    "Exception 2: Rare Hats

Any hat can be priced based on a single sale if ALL these criteria are met:

                    - There are no other recent sales in the last 3 months

                    - The effect is not a summer 2013 effect. (robo, 2013 halloween effects can be used as they are often rarely traded and rarely unboxed)

                    - The hat went to a collector or person who intends to keep the hat. A collector can be identified by looking at the person's trade history, item history of similar unusuals in the backpack OR if the owner has not resold the hat 1 month after the sale occurred." - Polar 2014

By the looks of things, all of those criteria have not been met. Because there was another sale in the past 3 months.

I'm just pointing out said rules, which you recently stated you have read. Whether or not it should is one thing, going by the rules is another. I shouldn't technically speed in my car, do I do it? yes. Just because I speed, doesn't make the speeding law invalid.

That is for hats that are not priced before. It doesn't apply here. Might want to read the entire thing.

Part 3. Determining an optimal range / identifying outliers

Unpriced hats – hats that have never had a proper suggestion or have no price

Two sales are required to establish a range on unpriced hats. If the two sales are discrepant, a third sale is required to determine the outlier. .

                      Exception 1: High Tier Hats

Sales for high tier hats (>20 buds) can be based on a single sale if there are no other sales in the last 3 months. Estimations can be made for unpriced / outdated parts of that trade as long as reasonable estimations are provided.

                      Exception 2: Rare Hats

Any hat can be priced based on a single sale if ALL these criteria are met:

                      - There are no other recent sales in the last 3 months

                      - The effect is not a summer 2013 effect. (robo, 2013 halloween effects can be used as they are often rarely traded and rarely unboxed)

                      - The hat went to a collector or person who intends to keep the hat. A collector can be identified by looking at the person's trade history, item history of similar unusuals in the backpack OR if the owner has not resold the hat 1 month after the sale occurred.

Well if that is the case, I apologize for my ignorance. Thanks for clarifying some things up for me.

Well, can't ask for more evidence since there hasn't been many sales. Seems fine to me, so upvote.
