          Botkillers failed because there are common versions that look virtually identical to the rarer versions except for a palette swap. To many people, the more common versions look as good, if not better, than the rarer versions.


          If there were common and nearly identical versions of Australium weapons available, then Australium weapons wouldn't be worth as much as they are now. Valve learned from their mistake with Botkillers.
