Background Information
The SBTWC Horrific Headsplitter was unboxed last halloween and is currently 1 of 1. It was put on the market three weeks ago by the unboxer, and I successfully traded for it today. I will not be trading this in the near future.
Seller's Trade Thread: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/22682347
Price Justification
I paid a Circling Heart Brotherhood of Arms + Green Confetti Fancy Fedora for the SBTWC Headsplitter.
Circling Heart BoA = 28 buds (average bp.tf price, ~1 month old price)
Green Confetti Fancy Fedora = 2.5 buds (average bp.tf price is 2.5, ~4 months old)
(28 + 2.5) * 0.9 = 27.45 buds, rounded down to a conservative 27 buds, which appears reasonably in-line with Poisoned Shadows Horiffic Headsplitter (average bp.tf price of 26.5 buds).

Even if it's 1 of 1, bible rules says you need 2 solds to make a suggestion.
• ✖ NEW unusuals need at least two sales. Unusual hats with no previous price cannot be priced with a single sale. There needs to be at least two sales in order to ensure that they are not being priced off outliers or quicksells. If the two trades so far are very far apart, wait for a third. Click for more info and questions.
Just pointing it out.
Thanks for your input - I had thought there were exceptions to 1st gens and halloween effects, which is why i put this suggestion together.
Moderators, please close this suggestion if you feel that it is not justified base on the pricing suggestion rules.
That's an old rule. And, if you go to the thread linked at the end there, polar says this in the 3rd post: "This rule was designed primarily for new effects. Not so much for old effects that have already been around for months. For your hat, we would have months of you selling it as reference. For new effects, we have no idea what is appropriate. Lots of speculation about what tier each effect belongs to"
A much more recent rule thread (http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/6033-new-unusual-price-suggestion-guide-the-cheat-sheet/) says this:
Any hat can be priced based on a single sale if ALL these criteria are met:
- There are no other recent sales in the last 3 months
- The effect is not a summer 2013 effect. (robo, 2013 halloween effects can be used as they are often rarely traded and rarely unboxed)
- The hat went to a collector or person who intends to keep the hat. A collector can be identified by looking at the person's trade history, item history of similar unusuals in the backpack OR if the owner has not resold the hat 1 month after the sale occurred.
Somebody really should update the links on http://backpack.tf/help/suggestions though.
aiight my bad.
If one trade has happened in 3 months, and it's not on the market, or has been for at least a month, that single trade can be used to set a price.
you need a mini on the fancy fedora, also his b/o was 25 buds so the sale can't be valued higher than that
Good point on the B/O - it seems he initially had the B/O at 30 and later dropped it to 25.
Moderators, please advise if I should close and re-suggest at 25 buds.
Thanks!
even so, 25 flat would be better
You probably don't need a mini for the fedora when it plays such a small role in the value of trade (especially considering he rounded down nearly half a bud). But ditto on the 25 bud b/o, the sale can't be considered higher than that.
mini won't be needed due to the b/o of 25
Please resuggest at 25 flat. Thanks
