The problem I have with this price is that it's much more than what it takes to make the item in the first place.

Look at any of the craft weps. Is the unarmed combat easier to get than say, the sharpened volcano fragment (or vice versa) No! It's. Pure chance. Which is why such a high price

It may be chance but you're more likely to make a nostromos than an unarmed combat because the scout has more melee weapons. You have a 1/5 chance of making a Nostromo w/ 4 scrap. 4*5 = 20. 20 scrap is a little over 2 ref. The unarmed combat is also only .66-1 ref, making it impractical to waste weapons trying to get a profit from it. It's not a total loss though, since you also get a chance at a three rune blade. It's simple probability, and 3 ref is too much for said probability.

Not to mention that it is a lot easier to get a Nostromo from crafting than any rare melee weapon, there are tons of those. Nostromo: 1/5. Lowest variety of melee weapons (sniper): 1/8. Yet they still go for 2-2.33 for really rare class-specific ones like the Sharp Dresser.

It's what people are paying for it, cost to make it isn't relevant.

It should be relevant, otherwise, there's no point to buying it from someone else if you're going to get 33% off just buy crafting. I've made over two keys by selling them for 2 ref, and all I had to do was sell 27 of them.

Backpack.tf only shows market prices, it doesn't and isn't meant to account for the cost of crafting it. If there are people buying and selling for this price, then there's proof towards making a suggestion.

Its all about supply and demand. The demand is to buy it straight up instead of crafting it for a good chance.

There was some misc that was 3-5 ref for a few days.

I think around 2 keys would be a better price, i've seen a few sold for 1.5-2 keys on trade servers.. This could have been due to demand of them though.

If you can find ANY proof that it sells for 2 keys you can counter suggest, best of luck to you.

Can't get scammed if you want to pay that price. Also they're not getting scammed, you can't simply go "I want a Nostromo" and craft it, there's a chance you wont get it. Another thing; Just because you can craft something for less doesn't make it worth that much, I.E. Maul, Apoco-Fists, Sharp Dressers, and others.
