First (real) try at a suggestion.

Recently sold a clean one (http://backpack.tf/item/2233923002) on SCM for $80 (2.62 buds / ~32 keys @ $2.45/key) - http://imgur.com/HPwjWsV,AMWbGPC#1

Paid with a Strange Horseless Headless Headtaker - $49 mean price on SCM (1.6 buds / 20 Keys @ $2.45/key)

Bought Strangifier for HHH for 20 Keys (1 bud (16 keys @ time) + 4 keys) - http://imgur.com/zA72vhq

1.6 + 2.6 = 4.2 / 2 = (2.1 buds) average price but range is still more appropriate here.

Please stick to valid sales on OP instead

"Avoid market transactions as proof. Feel free to include the sale in your suggestion (as a general reference), but do not rely on it to set your range. These transactions are not reliable because the selling and buying price is different due to the steam tax."

Hard to say from all the SCM sales, which are... dodgy at best, considering fluctuations, and the difference in pricings.

Also, some of the evidence seems a bit strange, too. For example the Strangifier sale, and the first SCM salee.

    Gonna stay neutral.

Being that they were SCM sales getting more evidence than backpack history could be a challenge. What do you suggest I add?

Just to clarify on my HHH trade, the unusual I traded was a duped Burning Birdcage for Pinkie Pie's (clean Hearts Swagman's). Those two were 1 for 1 trades and I paid the 1 bud + 4 keys solely for the HHH Strangifier.

I completely messed up that reply, oops.

Anyway, doesn't your transaction history show the SCM sale?

If you can get that, I can see this making more sense.

My transaction history does show the SCM sale which was not above the current range by much (I recovered my cost and buyer essentially paid the tax). It would be easy to discount my range if I sold for less but I am making my best effort here for a good suggestion that does little more than renew the range this hat previously had.

        I wouldn't go by SCM.

The amount keys sell for on SCM is like $2.15 + fees so you'd be way off. The cost/amount received are two different values.

I can't upvote anything that uses SCM (in which random noobs who know nothing about trading can buy a hat for whatever they want). For many different reasons. downvoted.

You have to take the Steam/Valve tax into consideration when buying keys from the market in addition that more keys sell there than straight cash transactions over Paypal now. I did not value keys at new price of $2.50 but $2.45 which is where I typically see them trading at with the exception of a few people driving the price down when they sell off their inventory.

Just because I valued with my SCM prices doesn't discount how I came up with the range of what keys are currently selling. If you would like me to adjust the range, then help instead of not listing your reasons.

We typically only allow SCM sales as supportive evidence in suggestions. However, in situations where there are no other usable sales, we will accept suggestions based on the SCM sales. In these cases, I prefer to derive a range from each sale - low end = what buyer receives, high end = what seller paid.

But given that the hat already has a price and the change is so minor, it seems pointless to update it so minorly off of such a transaction like a market. I don't think it seems reasonable to update with an increase of .2 buds which is like 3 keys

We need to keep unusuals updated. If the SCM sales suggest that the current price is about right, then the price should be marked as updated provided that there are no other sales.

Thank you polar as most on this site would rather throw out the entirety of market sales due to steam tax. I wanted to justify the hat's price and it still needs a range and I thought this was most appropriate because it sold for more (outlier) on SCM.

did you take tax into consideration?

yes I did. If I sell a key on market for $2.46 (buyer paid price). I receive $2.15 http://puu.sh/e7j7T/be6c851f5f.png

wait what you mean? you're not the suggester

you just asked me if i took tax into consideration when I downvoted, giving my reason. Of course I did ;p.

i was talking to the suggester, i didn't reply to your comment :P

              http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24359357 - up for 3 weeks with a b/o of 2 now

Your SCM sale at $80 means that the buyer paid 80 / 32 (buds value at the time) = 2.5 buds. The seller received 2.2 buds. Sale value of 2.2-2.5. Mean value of 2.35

The buyer paid a value of 1.6 with the HHH, but the seller only received 1.4. Mean value of 1.5.

              More sales:

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24354592 - offered with searing crown here. ~1.5 in value based on the b/o

Sales at 1.5, 1.5, 2.4. B/O at 3 weeks at 2. 2.4 seems like an outlier here tbh. I think it's best to wait for another sale before making the final decision. But I think, as it stands, the current range is actually better than the suggested one.
