Seriously I'm really confused right now.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24933519 - B/O of 7 ref - sold for item overpay?: http://i.imgur.com/Sobu3GQ.png
Why a key?
If it helps: http://imgur.com/C14wGSe
The guy told me that he was confident that it needed a rise, and wanted his name put in this link.
Thanks for the additional proof - sales involving this are as rare as hen's teeth. I'm assuming this is the trade?: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/24984641
Yeah; I took what I could get, and I even own another one.
The only one on the market rejected a 4.00 ref.
Upvote.
what the heck o.o
It... still sold for pure...
Er
This is confusing...
If possible this might get a rise to a key, but the B/O
it's up to a mod i guess
I figured that using the Unusual rules for price suggestions was the best course of action here (i.e, value can't be higher than the B/O). I don't think there's any similar rules in place for lower-tier items such as this.
The medal went pretty quickly, I think you could push for a key value.
I discussed it with Woifi; since 7 ref was the listed price, that seems to be the price to go with.
But if you find any on the market for less than a key, I guess that's potential profit to be made. No guarantees, though.
More like, if I can find any on the market.
I love the fact that Trade.tf says that its going for 1.44.
This reminds me of the Scotch Bonnet price increase. Out of nowhere, one random item happening to have zero presence in the market. Funny when it happens.
Proof is there, only 1 on market, enough to price, upcroak
Maybe range?
with 1 sale? dont think so bud
Surely this would be 1 key regardless of the buyout.
It is possible the buyer didn't even see the trade though tf2outpost.
It wasn't listed anywhere but Outpost; not on Bazaar or the classifieds or anything like that. I think the B/O rule is necessary here, but if there are any more sales in the future we might be able to get a better idea of its 'proper' value, since this sold for so much higher.
Suppose, SCM definitely doesn't support 1 key;
http://steamcommunity.com/market/listings/440/Genuine%20Merc%20Medal
Genuines and SCM rarely see eye-to-eye, although usually it's the other way around; the market prices are often higher than refined prices. Nonetheless, both solds in this trade did so in less than a day.
Hmmm Is an Good Price and old item and few you find to sale under 1 key. Vote Up from me :)
problem is not meny sells it and most are selling it on the market for 0.6=4 ref but its
Dont see why ppl are buying this for 7 ref. Its .58€ on the scm and 58/14=4.142...
I think that 3-4 ref is ok as there are many genuines selling lower than scm price.
Edit: a little mistake in the calculations (the ref price is in dollars) but its still around 4 ref
I love how it's selling for the equivalent of 4.66 refined on SCM but people are paying a key for it on Outpost.
upvote, obviously 1 and only sale.
CRIKEY this badge is ugly
why would anyone want to pay 7 ref for this piece of trash?
A Genuine collection requires every Genuine, ugly or not. ;)
you say that like collectors are morrons and cant afford to buy it on steam market.
ridiculous
Calm yourself. Some people prefer spending in-game currency on in-game items, rather than paying real-world money for them.
you say that like ref is not actively translated to in-steam currency.
you where talking about collectors here though and as one of them I prefer steam market it is cheaper I get more funds for 7 ref than I do ref for such funds.math is your friend use them.
real world money though, what that has to do with steam funds anyway.
If the strange pocket heavy worth 30 cents above what this does in steam market but it is priced at 4 ref on bp.tf while this is suggested for 7 ref this should be enough to understand that noone really cares what you guys suggest here there is the steam market and then everything else.
You seem awfully upset about this, and I'm not entirely sure why. Plenty of people don't look to SCM for purchases, for one reason or another; e.g. they don't like dealing with items that they'll lose profit on (see: Gaben taxes); the new untradable restriction, and so on. And yes, ref isn't actively translated to Steam currency. It isn't marketable.
Steam wallet funds can be increased through selling on the market or funded by your own credit card - hence the real world money comment.
oh dear god you spend 4 ref you buy a strange pocket heavy you sell it on market gaben gets 15% taxes and you have half a key on steam funds with 4 ref invest congrats is this a hard concept to imagine this is what we do your comment is out of 2012 before steam market was a thing you seem outdated and irelevant to what trade has evolved and therefor you still hopemanipulating prices on a 3rd pricing site can get you profit.lol wake up.this is 2015 no one cares what you will suggest for it anyone with a calculater and basic math knowledge can tell you so.
the only reason we want an expensive ref/key ratio is cause it makes it easier to buy more keys in fact I can buy back my keys for 8 ref of investment in 5 minutes through steam market...we don't put funds in steam with our money we just generate more funds with the extra ref we sell our keys for.
Upset is something I am not.in fact I would prefer not to see suggestions over items that clearly don't belong to be here in the first place.
for 13 days this is the only proof you get but still dozens of it sell in steam market daily and you want us to upvote that thing.well sorry this is absurd.
If you want to be realist about what is going on it is simple:ppl quit trades they do not bother listing their shit here or on outpost they find steam market way faster and more reliable for there needs and you guys take that and make a suggestion out of it.lel .
Ah, I was wrong. You're not upset, you're genuinely annoyed. Well, good luck with that, I don't plan on continuing to fan your flames.
EDIT: However your edit seems reasonable and warrants a response: backpack suggestions are based off of sales using in-game currency - with a few, occasional, exceptions. SCM is merely supporting proof (Though certainly it's used to counter-prove every so often - I imagine that's part of the reason this suggestion has been up for so long). However with such a limited market on the classifieds, Outpost etc, it's these sales that are important when suggesting.
that is why ppl is quiting trades bp.tf suggestions are usually wrong and irrelevent with the real prices.I pitty those that still go by bp.tf prices I bought a set of misc for 1 key and the guy added 9 ref I sold the miscs for 2.49$ and guess what i got 9 ref profit out of a guy that followed bp.tf prices.
I am not annoyed I get tons of profit this way.the ppl that are annoyed are those that realize slowly that they where sharked with bp.tf's blessings. I don't blame the bp.tf as a site but the outdated system it is based on.your suggestion for example. you suggest the price should be 7 ref (~1$)if ppl was to be adviced bp.tf as a guideline and mass buy this misc for 7 ref and hope for profit they would be faced to the reality of the real traders(scm) and forced to lose 30 cents for every item purchased. your suggestion is missleading and bad in every way and ofcourse with the blessings of bp.tf rules which are outdated ofcourse since they where never updated to steam market reality.it just seems like a bad joke.
steam market is part of the in game trading it is the same thing.unless you didn't know when summer sales hit the buds suffer saying is irrelevant is arrogance the least.
I'm confused about a few things here. How the hell did you make it this far, following your rash philosophy, to a $1,000+ USD backpack? Also, you seem economically ignorant as well. The reason that these shifts are happening is because this virtual economy, which you seem to hate, is going through regular changes. Listings that are on the community market will still be present, regardless of the real world currency shifts of refined metal. The listings follow their own prices, due to the convenience of buying on the market. There may even be so much demand for an item that it rarely ever gets sold via an actual trade. One example is the single pure sale in this suggestion. I don't think that I will have to explain this any further, unless you're defective, but, thankfully, you seemed to support quite the argument, and seem somewhat intelligent. For that, I commend you...Not that my opinions matter.
There is one point I try to pass some items sell more frequently in steam market and are commodities there. the specific item has sold in market in the same time spawn this suggestion is up 30 times for the average of 50 cents which is the equivalent of 4-4.44 ref how can someone suggest a price for it with 1 link to support a ~110% rise I would call this sell an outlier and nothing more than that.yeah my english are terrible but my point stands.if this pass will misslead buyers to wrong estimates of its price and nothing more.
I guess I've got to explain some more! >_>
Okay, since listings on the community market sell frequently, independent of trades, then they can be higher or lower than Backpack.tf pricing, due to convenience, and depending on current demand. Also, it seems you forgot to even factor in the 15% tax on the community market; it skews the similarities even further. In summary, this argument is quite pointless, and these factors are the reasons that the community market is not valid proof by itself.
the 15% tax is already calculated.
I feel as though part of this needs to be addressed:

Two sales, one with item overpay, both very close in value. Considering how these are the only two sales we know of it's not really possible to call them both outliers.
so 2 sells in 14 days vs 30 sell in scm at 4,44(~0.5 avg) is more valid cause the trades occured on 3rd party sites rather than the official market.bp'tf logic in a nutshell.still I am not convinced.I hope it gets accepted though so ppl rush on market buy them just to find out how hard it is to sell them for half a key.
If they buy them, that is their own damn fault for not doing research first.
just noticed i had one of these XD
