Suggestion: Earbuds at 8 keys

Backpack.tf is here to list the most common trading points for an item – at the current moment and probably the next couple days it is 8 keys. Not 9 keys. People might have the rare 9 key sale but 8 keys is clearly the most trading point and extremely easily obtainable for 8 keys so why pay 9 Keys.

Remember when people bitched about the spreadsheet (which almost everyone agreed to and respected) and wanted an economy based on the community? There you have it :^)

People are always buying lower than backpack.tf price, if the price of buds stay at 15 on bp, everyone will sell at like 14-15... if we vote yes to 8, people will buy for 7.5, you guys are just destroying tf2 economy with all these votes, whats the point

Bptf need some new rules that will reduce it's effect on prices and whole tf2 economy. I would like to suggest these changes:

1. price suggestion should not be changed more than once per moth (than bptf won't effect values directly so much)

2. new suggestions can be added only when "month" period ends (because people start panic when they see drop suggestion and not rise one, so they quicksell )

3. 1of1 unusual should not be valued without agreement of it's current owner (because there is no competition and it's confusing for buyers who want to get cheaper and big problem for owner who is than forced to sell it cheaper or for same price in best case)

bptf have big effect on economy and it causes values to drop all the time, only currency have potential to rise when there is some big update.

The market can change from one day to another rather quickly.

Nah, that won't happen. As buds fall in value, sellers of exceptionally expensive and rare items raise their prices - and there's always a willing buyer. Burning TC went from 100 buds to over 500 in slightly over two years, and the patter extends to other rare unusuals and items. ~3 years ago it would be unthinkable to have such exorbitant prices even for the most rare of unusuals, now 100+ buds is getting more common. Simple cause and effect.

U forget the fact that burning tc just sold for 10 buds more than before. If it's value is represented in keys, the value of burning tc drop a lot.

No, its value has, in fact, increased. When it was priced at 120 some two years ago, buds were worth 23 keys = 2760 keys. Even now with buds dropping to 8 keys, a price of 550 buds translates to 4400 keys. Your logic is completely off.

It doesn't matter in the context of the argument you're making. It could sell for 530 or 560 the next day and the point would remain - expensive and coveted items retain or even increase value over time, regardless of currency fluctuations.

I don't think TF2 economy necessarily "went to shit", it simply evolved (and is still evolving) and the market didn't settle, yet. Honestly I'm surprised it took so long for people to realize that metal has no practical use beyond being a simple trading bill. Too bad Valve chooses to ignore the problem and just keeps feeding the system with more useless cosmetics instead of employing creative thinking for metal usage like they did with bread boxes. Ah well.

And such a shame it is that this site still prices everything in a niche, useless market that refined to real currency trading is. Custom prices/key conversions, where art thou? :/

and people need to also realise that there's no causal link between key price in refined and bud price in keys, at least none that i've ever heard convincingly supported.

Do you have any proof of that, and do you have enough proof to show that it is is a common trading point too which in needs to be in the range. Cant you see that 8 Keys is the most common trading point.

If you start to low the price of a item, everybody will want to do quicksells, it is the way of a few people to do fall a item. It is a minority within earbud market.

i like how people think prices drop from some magical occurence. prices on bp drop because people sell cheaper and cheaper than anyone else... the seller values them less and decides to post a smidge less than another item over time all of this price cutting leads to well documented sales and therfore the votes + sales dicatate the new price, not magic
