You cant use classifieds as main proof, you need sellers via bazaar or Outpost at the range youre suggesting at.

Yes you can, in fact the classified listings on bp.tf ARE the main proof since most buyers look here before anywhere else. Other than that, the simple fact is that you won't have any trouble getting Conga between 12 to 13 ref within 5 minutes on bp.tf due to the abundance of sellers at that range. Vice versa listing Conga at the current price (16 keys) will definitely not sell unless it's a buyer from outpost who doesn't check bp.tf

Classifieds are support, not main proof.

Not any worse than outpost. On outpost anyone can click the check button and mark their trade as completed. Heck you can even put up items you don't have for trade and then mark it as completed. I could theoretically create 60 profiles and mark 60 16 ref conga trades as completed and you can still use it as proof. If anything, bp.tf is wayy more reliable.

Here's the problem with your statement. Yes, anyone can mark the trade as completed, but it doesn't mean the item has sold. All that means is that the trade has been closed. One will have to check the trader's inventory to make sure it has sold or not. Another problem with your statement is bp.tf as more reliable. So if one was to list an item in the classifieds, how does another person check to see whether it has sold or not if the listing gets removed? With classified listings, what many people do is once they sell their item, they remove the listing, making it as if it hasn't appeared in the classifieds. Outpost, however, the trade just closes but doesn't get removed from the database. That allows a suggestor to check whether the item has sold or not, which is more reliable.

Then again, take Conga as example, one could have multiple Congas. What will you do then to check whether they've traded that one Conga that they marked as completed? Aside from that, I doubt most suggestion makers go through the painfully time consuming process of verifying each trade backpack by backpack, let alone the voters. Classified listings do not verify sold items at any particular price that's true, but it does show how many sellers are selling at what price. Why would anyone in their sane state buy Conga at 16 ref when there's a ton of sellers between 12 to 13 on bp? Even without the verified solds, the abundance of lower priced sellers calls for a lower price on the item, it's that simple.

So people get suggestions accepted through invalid proof? You're basically saying anyone can pull up random trades, call that evidence, and have their suggestion get accepted. Also, I already posted counter-proof why 1 key should be in the range still. I'm not going to bother to respond anymore since you're so adamant about this.

I'm not saying they get accepted without proof. Though I WAS saying that suggestions often go through without being verified completely due to the nature of outpost as I've already explained. There, if you don't want to continue proving it's 1 key then don't. But I AM challenging the validity of your very own counter proof, and that is not only relevant to this price suggestion but also the point of "proof basing off of Outpost often go through without being verified completely" as well.

Tell that to the other suggestions that uses the same kind of proof/counter-proof and still gets suggestions accepted/closed. I've read through your wall of text, but you have nothing to back up your claims. You ask if they sold it for 1 key, let me ask you this question: what else would they wanted to sell it for and why? What I noticed from several trades is that most don't say that they are looking for other offers and only asking for their B/O. It's all in good faith that they sold it for their listed price for non-Unusuals.

That's the thing guys, there's no way to confirm that the conga WAS in fact sold for 1 key other than "good faith". To demonstrate this here's an example. Few days earlier I listed a strange bison as 4 keys on outpost, and after hours and no buyers showed, I panicked and sold it for 3 keys elsewhere instead. Even then however, I did not bother with outpost and marked the trade as completed simply because it was no use having it lying around. In this process, an illusion is created that I DID manage to sell the bison at 4 when I really sold it at 3. Sure, you can check that bison's history and say its owner is no longer me. But beyond that, what do you have to confirm I did in fact sell it at 4 keys? The same idea applies here, and the point I'm trying to make is that we should not dismiss the fact that there's an abundance of sellers between the suggested range of 13-14 right here on bp and that outpost is not the bible of proof as we all treat it to be

No. The reason one got -8 and the other got +10 was because the first said you can't use Classifieds as proof at all, while the second said they can't be your ONLY (main) proof.

The difference between "proof" and "main proof" may be small, but it's an important difference. That's the reason for the dislikes, not because people want to be snobby towards the new guy.

First of all, the person you stated who was a "white belt" is actually a orange belt.

Secondly, he stated classifieds cannot be used as proof. But classifieds can be used as supporting proof, so he's wrong there.

As I said before, stereotypes exist for a reason. Thats why White Belts are seen to others as nubs. More often than not, they don't have experience yet they try to comment something like "downvote cause of this >invalid link of proof goes here<" Of course there are some people, like me, who don't discriminate newcomers. Rather, I prefer to help them.. unless of course they resist it. You, unfortunately, are not one of them

Backpack.tf classifieds don't count as proof. Only proof on outpost and bazaar is allowed if I'm not wrong.

Classifieds can be used as support proof. They just can't be the main proof or the only proof.
