I think the skull was duped, that's probably why. Would this suggestion still work?

Considering that a duped one sold for 50 when there are some available for ~20 on SCM it should be ok

Your sale may be considered an outlier due to the fact that there are two clean ones readily available on SCM for ~20 keys or so.
