Massed Flies is a high-tier effect sought after by collectors.
He isn't a flies collector though, so it was probably like his dream hat or something.
It was his old hat. He had a monopoly over it or something a little over a year ago.

The seller had a b/o at 45 keys for a while. Pricing this at 121 keys pure here probably illustrates the exact issue of 10% overpay. The payment of a secret fez seems to be one of convenience and not representative of the pure value here.
