If people are taking months to sell it at 8 ref why are you doing a conservative drop? It seems 7 ref would be a solid price to go to due to your 7 ref one being unsold for 3 weeks.

Yea, totally agree. However it's better than current range and if the suggester doesn't feel like resuggesting it won't be closed. Unless someone does a counter-suggestion.

So are you guys saying that I have enough proof to drop it to 7 ref if I so wanted?

Well, I just noticed that the 7 ref is already sold. So I am not sure that it needs a drop at all.
