Bringing Ge and PE closer together <3

The sales

Sale 1:

Sold for scorching nappers (~160) + PE guad (~40)+ TaW tower (~20) + Pro sf knife w/good parts (~20) + S.invis (~3)

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/27388240

Miniguad:

Guad was resold for 40 here:

Sold for 38 pure + 2 in sweets

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/27492209 has been relisted a few times, has been on for ~6 days

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198044366882?time=1448438400 before

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198044366882?time=1448524800 after

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198044366882?time=1448438400&compare=1448524800

I was gonna update the guad, but theres this sale, a sale for ~20 in stuff which I probably miss something for, and a sale ~65. Theres also a seller at 55. In other words, that thing is all over the place. Since the seller from this trade resold this PE guad for 40, Im gonna take 40 here.

0.9*(160+20+20+3) +40 = ~220

-> 220 keys

Sale 2:

Sold for duped PE wraith? (potentially with some added keys?)

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198081181328?time=1446015600&compare=1447056000

http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198044366882?time=1446883200&compare=1446796800

http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/25389781 offers here seem higher. It would surprise me if someone would be selling this for 8 months and ending up selling it for a duped ~116 key hat. Hazmat, vive, and hell, even that combustible are higher (although the combustible shouldnt be ;pp). Most of the offers are long ago though, but still

All in all I dont think sale 2 warrants that big of a drop. I could mini the wraith but Im gonna stick with sale 1 here.

Other 3 in existence are:

- duped: http://backpack.tf/item/1993105797

- Hasnt moved in 3 years: http://backpack.tf/item/919426802

- Hasnt moved at all: http://backpack.tf/item/685461285

So yeah. This should do.

Constructive criticism welcome!

~Foamy :3

the price difference is very high tho :o

Yeah. I guess its because this is rarer; its the only clean GE one that has been for sale for 3 years. [or at least the only one that sold:P]. Theres over twice as much PE ones.

but yeah, this is probably still really high for this

I can shed some light here because I'm the one that both bought and sold this hat in these sales.

Here's the rundown of what happened with the sale where I bought the Flamenco -

The only reason that I bought this hat for so low is because the seller I bought it from had been searching for an energy Wraith Wrap for months. He originally wanted to buy the only-one-in-existence GE wraith wrap, but the owner of that hat was not willing to let it go, so he turned to the only other energy, PE. There are only three PE Wraith Wraps in existence. Two clean, and one duped, which was mine.

The seller saw my PE Wraith Wrap up on the market and added me. He mentioned that he was willing to let his Flamenco go for so low because he had been searching for an energy wraith wrap for so long and had finally found mine. I added about 20 keys in sweets on top of my wraith wrap for his Flamenco making the total come out to about 135 keys. He agreed to the trade and knew that he was losing a lot, but to him it was perfectly fine because he had gotten the specific hat he had been searching for for months.

Now here's the rundown of when I sold the Flamenco -

I sold the Flamenco for a Scorching Nappers (160) + PE Guad (50) + TaW Tower (21) + Pro. KS Festive Knife (20) + Strange Invis Watch (3) = 254. Not sure where you're getting 220 from, even after the price I quicksold the Guad for?

I would have been more than happy to sell these hats for full price, but I need the money from cashing out for personal reasons, so the faster I was able to sell the unusuals for pure, the better. That means I was willing to take a big hit out of the actual price of the unusuals. If I didn't have something come up in my personal life, I would have been more than happy to sell the hats I traded for for their actual price instead of quicksell price.

With these two sales explained from my point of view, I want to say that I will be voting against this suggestion for two reasons.

      1. The sales of these hats did have a broad range, but seeing that this hat is 1/4 in existence, but the only clean one for sale for a LONG TIME now, I don't see why it shouldn't stay the same price if it's basically a 1/1 clean since the other two aren't for sale.

      2. I don't think my quicksell for the Guad should factor into this price suggestion. If it wasn't necessary that I have to cash out now, then I would have happily sold the hats I traded for at full price. The price that the Flamenco sold for shouldn't be affected by the sales of the hats that were traded for AFTER the Flamenco sold.

I know a lot of this may not make sense for some people, but these are my thoughts considering I am the one who both bought and sold this exact hat. Hopefully any questions you may have, I can answer.

Thanks for the suggestion and I hope you can see this from my point of view.

      Thanks,

      Darney

        Hey,

Thanks for the imput. Comments on your main points of concern:

        - The first sale mentioned (wraith sale) seems quite low in comparison with offers that have been received on his trade post, hence I excluded it from the range. Your explanation warrants it to be seen as an outlier, since people are often willing to overpay a lot for a hat theyre specificly looking for.

        Now for the second sale:

        - I took the value of the guad at what you sold it for since that's the closest to seeing the pure value you had in mind when accepting this trade. The base of this site's pricing methods attempts to show what hats can sell for in pure. This may not always be exact, hence they are only guidelines instead of set-in-stone prices. The guad's price is outdated, meaning the listed value is not a proper representation of what the guad can sell for. Ive tried to formally update its price, but have not succeeded in doing so since buyouts and sales were in disagreement (e.g some sales have been higher than buyouts Ive seen and the difference is severe; updating it would give it a huge range.) In this particular situation, it seemed inappropriate to value the guad higher than what you valued it at yourself.

That brings me to the second point:

Since the site attempts to factor in that sellers often require "overpay" in hats, everything that is not pure is taken with a factor of 0.9, to make up for the fact that sellers generally take less in pure than that they take in hats. This is a guideline procedure and it happens in the pricing process of all hats here. Not every trader agrees with that rule, but for pricing here it is something that is done.

To avoid valuing hats too low by applying overpay, I have not applied overpay on the guad (since it sold for pure, meaning its pure value is properly determined already and thus overpay was not needed). I did notice you were lowering your buyout step by step, but since you have been selling for nearly a week, I cannot really call that a quicksale.

I hope most of the problems have been cleared up by this.

I'm sorry, but I don't think the Flamenco should drop in price. Yes,I am the current owner of the hat sold in the first trade, but I'd still ask for you to hear me out.

To start off,Darney, the Flamenco's seller in the first trade is currently cashing out and was quickselling the Guad,as he clearly stated in his outpost trade. I also don't think that one trade is enough evidence to set a price, because according to backpack.tf the guad w/ paint is 49.2 keys.

        0.9*(160+20+20+3)+49.2=231.9~232 keys.

And if you really want to make a hat drop because of 0.1 keys is up to you to decide.

        Exhibit A:

        http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/27492209

        Exhibit B:

        http://backpack.tf/item/284406084

Ive addressed most of the problems in the comment above, feel free to read through that.

The price on the guad is old, and therefore does not reflect the current market of it. Ive decided to go with what the seller expected to get out of it for pure, which is the closest to realistic you can get for a trade of this nature.

As for whether or not the hat should drop:

Realisticly speaking, this value is really high. The previous suggestion was based on what one collector was willing to pay for it, which almost doubled the value. The conversion from buds to keys that happened afterwards made the value far higher than it should realisticly have been. That's one of the reasons hats priced in buds need updates so badly.

Honestly, this suggestion still prices the hat very generously. The scorching nappers suggestion on which the most recent price change was based already eluded a larger drop by excluding a low sale, so 160 on that is fairly high. On this suggestion itself Im excluding a low sale. Even though the first sale was excluded as low outlier, it does tell us something about the selling capacity of the hat. In all the time it has been selling for 8 months, and pretty much all of the offers it has gotten in that time are lower than this value, and all in unusuals rather than pure.

Based on all of this, Id say the suggested value is on the high side, if anything. This is basicly a price refresh and considering what other effects on this hat and other GE pyro hats are selling for, Id say youd have a hard time getting 220 pure out of this

some support - offered a Burning Sole M8 if the flamenco owner would add 55 keys - Which would be 220 w/o overpay.

No other sales in over a month. So this is fine as is.
