I sold 5 keys @ 19.33 within 24 hours. Upvote
We're slowly getting there
#20RefAtChristmas
here we go..
Aren't sellers explicitly required for pricing, not to mention currency? But either way, Sad to say I upvote, despite no actual sales listed, the price will change, just like it did at 16.00, 8.00, and 18.88, it'll go to 19.11, and then people will sell their keys for 1 scrap above once priced, and priced at 19.22 based on those sales, etc. Hard to swallow that people will just do that, knowing that to that end, there is no reason or end of the tunnel for the keys' pricing to stabilize, or even slowdown, but they will, keys will rise, ref will fall, and all else correlated to it, if money talks, the key sellers who see xx.xx ref, and put theirs for xx.xx+.11, are having a wonderful conversation.
But i drabble, upvote.
1. No, when raising a price sellers are not needed.
2. Sales aren't needed either if there is a sufficient amount of buyers.
I'm not saying this suggestion has no grounds,as i stated it's gonna pass, the price even if not this explicitly, although consider, if 400,000 people were to buy for 24.00, it wouldn't mean anything unless they sold for x amount, obviously people w/ keys would want to go for that deal, but until it was sold, it is simply a request, if they paid 8 ref, or anything of the sort, but still, my upvote stands.
At least key prices are slowing their rapid rise...
while it is slower than the 16-18 period, the rate of rise is still many times over what it once was, and to be honest at this point, the "new players bringing more ref into existance" reasoning is undeniably dulling. If anything, new players are being pushed away as much as old ones. but nonetheless, 19.11 is inevitable, they will update prices to 19.22, enough sales will accumulate for 19.22, will rise to 19.33, sellers change to .44, etc. And people pay, though to be blunt, it isn't exactly a "evil capitalist high-tier selfish monster" deal. Valve isn't exactly a charity.
Well, if more people could use the community market, this vicious cycle would stop for once. Why can't people use placeholders to sell them at community market? Eg. (Australium Gold if you only have 7 ref). Honestly, the taxes won't be significant for items at these small prices
Don't worry it'll stop after the holidays. It usually does.
Well, I'd be surprised if there is a recession instead of inflation though. If backpack.tf could make adjust ref-value items' prices to key inflation, wouldn't keys stay at the same price?
backpack.tf is supposed to follow the market, not dictate what things should be priced at :u changing every item's (items worth less than 1key) price whenever keys go up would take too much time and be price manipulation
Well, but that would stop key prices from inflating because their value stays the same, and so key prices would halt and the items would not raise anymore! What do you exactly refer to as "price manipulation"?
you're trying to force items' metal values to rise along with the metal value of keys... that's manipulating the price :u bptf reflects the market, if items' metal values don't increase with the metal value of keys, we can't just force them to/put it in the price guide that they are
That's true, but by increasing the price, no advantage would be gained as if the ratio for an item to a key was for example, 1:19, it would stay 1:19 throughout the whole process, and all items valued in ref would be the same. This would stop all loopholes available through trading WITHIN the TF2 Economy
I would hope so, Valve are not even discounting white/black paint like before (i believe the last summer at 3.74 each), and though they are discounting gun mettle keys at 20%, mann co supply keys are still 2.49, as they were in, well, ever.
Maybe file a petition to backpack.tf to make an inflation-adjustment system based on percentage? Eg if key prices inflate 1 scrap from 19 (like this voting process), 0.11/19~0.005, so inflate ref-based currency items by 0.5%?
we're derailing fast, probably should take this to the forums
"inflate ref-based currency items" like what? scrap and reclaimed :| ? seems redundant
Sorry if you could not understand. I meant items such as cosmetics, not currency, eg. if an item is valued at 1 ref, if keys increase from 10-12 ref, 2/10=20% increase, and the item would be valued at 1.22, so when people sell their keys at "higher prices", they no longer gain an advantage. Hope this explains in detail. If this garners a good response, I'd probably head to the forums too
I downvote. Scrap.tf is selling keys for 19.11 and have a stranded stock of keys. Yesterday they have 18 keys in stock, now there are 82 keys stranded and still raising.
Other point: Its ridiculous raising price of a key without raising prices of items that are 0.33 or 0.66 or 1 ref less than a key. The logic is wanna raise the price of all cosmetics that value 1 key or more and the other ones will depreciating everytime. Is a stupid logic.
The other point: "new players bringing more ref into existance" I argument with: "players are buying more keys and so are more keys too maintain a balance keys/ref."
k thanks for input it will not be considered.
Scrap.tf has 101 keys in stock at the moment, I can't understand what in the holy hell happened since yesterday they had none, and they were buying for 19 ref-per-key while now it's 18.88 ref-per-key.
they bought alot of keys so that when the price rises more they can sell them for more
True but they're bots, they only get keys when people sell keys to them, so what made people sell that many keys for such a low price such as 18.88? That's my question.
yesterday they were buying @19 ref. probably the bots begun to be flooded with keys so they lowered the buy price to 18.88.
i'm guessing 19 was the max price for keys this year :)

More respect and education with others please. I have 36 keys in my backpack and downvote.
First off, I don't think his comment was directed precisely at you, since he used the word "kiddos", emphasis on the plurality expressed by the "s" at the end. Also, I don't see how he was disrespectful, he was expressing a point of view, whereas your comment flowed aggressively. About his lack of proficiency in english grammar, have you ever considered there exist people who don't have english as their first language, and may be starting to learn it now? And have you also considered that that is not a reason for them to not communicate with grammar proficient people? Also, have you considered this is by no means an academic ambient, and as such, grammar is not as important as communication? You definitely did understand what he meant, despite the grammar, and this sort of ambient admits the mistakes he made, because those did not completely compromise communication. Lastly, do you think there ever is a reason to be disrespectful at someone? Lack of proper grammar use definitely isn't a reason, and at least I do think that when my interlocutor expresses him or herself disrespectfully, the best I can do is keep myself respectful and either warn him or her of the disrespect in the manner of speech used, or just end the conversation without ever resorting to disrespect.
TL;DR version: The guy probably didn't refer only to you, didn't express himself disrespectfully, probably doesn't have english for his first language, this is an ambient in which understanding is more important than grammar, and there is really no reason to be disrespectful towards others, even when they are being so themselves.
EDIT: Holy fecal matter, only after posting I realised how much I wrote
Let's try to keep the unrelated comments to a minimum please, report rude comments and move on.
Will do, thanks about the touch
i think where you looked at his how much ref his inventory worth wich confused with how many keys he have
Pages of buyer at 19.11 on bp, upvote

Um..The economy is unfortunately not as kind as you would think it is.
