White Phosphorus's ignition temperature is room temperature - it can burst into flames at any point in time. If it ignites, it can never be put out unless it's Oxygen deficient or in a cold temperature

Or you could remove its source of fuel. There are 3 conditions for combustion. Fuel, Oxygen, and Sufficient Heat. If you remove any one of those, the fire will go out.

Oh, well, guess you're right on that one. However, you could've put the control variable on the combustion, which would make a better experiment on the Phosphorus itself.

Wait, weren't you creating an experiment to test the chemical properties of Phosphorus? If it was, you could put the validity of combustion as the control variable, and show change the temperatures of Phosphorus to show to which temperatures it will stay on fire.
