Suggestion: Non-Tradable Competitive Matchmaking Beta Invite at 0.5–1 keys

Now regarding the range, there's a few sellers/sales below the suggested range, however most of them are young, inactive or have sold plenty really quickly.

There's a really large amount of sellers below a key, However, most of the market seems to be intent on selling at a Key, and with around 30 successful sales at that, it's clearly a common trading point.

0.5 comes from the sellers and sales at 9.00+ Refined, and there's plenty of sales around the median of that.

Don't get me wrong, 0.5-1 is a really, really wide range to use, but considering the vast sellers and sales below a key, it just works.

0.5-1 Keys should be fine.

Additional Proof/Counter-Proof/Constructive Criticism/Feedback is always appreciated.

no, this is right. the actual pass stays in your backpack. these are the giftable ones people are selling (and not gifting for free like intended)

There is no way to sell the original that's gifted to you btw. they don't wrap. they just sit in your bp as a beta pass

And FYI... I have GIVEN all mine away as intended, 6 so far, as gifts... never sold a single one, as most of my community and friends have done

yeah let's make this clear, i said idc which is priced.

It's the beta invite that is being sold and bought, ofc it's the item that should be priced

Wrong item and I sold 8 free already

this is the right item. you can't sell the original.

Okay but they weren't meant to be sold

i agree 100%

Perhaps, but life isn't fair is it?

Jesus Christ when will people understand that this item isn't worth anything.

If there's people willing to buy this item for a certain amount of price, certainly that would mean that this isn't worthless?

People can do whatever they want with their stuff, say someone gave someone an unpriced unusual for free, that doesn't mean it's worthless right?

Those are constantly dropping for every owner, they spread extremely fast and Valve intended them to be given away for free anyways, so yeah, I don't think any price is valid.

By the logic of stuff constantly dropping for every owner, weapons and refined should be worth nothing too.

If there's people that are willing to buy them, and people successfully selling them, it means that there's a market to them despite them being common.

I've always believed that these go for free more commonly than they are sold, but it does appear there's a market for them, oddly...

sad but true. for every one i've seen sold, i've seen 1 gifted so far. it's about 50/50 unfortunately

I thought Valve forbade the sale of comp. passes.

Where did they say this?

It was some chatter I heard on a New York Skial trade server. BBQ's an admin and a more experienced trader, ask him a little more.

This is my opinion on it. I'll talk to the other mods to see what they think. I don't think these were intended to be traded for profit, and I don't think we should be encouraging that by giving them a value. There is still a lot of confusion about how these are traded and there is a huge discrepancy in what they actually get traded for because trustworthiness plays an important factor. We have had reports about actual scams as well as people who thought they were scammed but didn't understand that these aren't gift wrappable. I just think it's best in this situation to leave this unpriced.

Eh, the same could have been said for any untradable item back in the day if you ask me. For example, when HOUWARs were untradable, I don't think valve meant for them to be traded off to other players, yet we did so anyways. I won't disagree with the discrepancy and trust though, as i'm sure that would play a big part on this item's market. I'd be willing to let this stay open for a while and see how the market on this stabilizes, but leaving it unpriced would leave a sour taste in my mouth for the reason I mentioned.

The difference between the HOUWARS and the passes being that there are people giving the passes away for free. There are threads on reddit, steam groups and the forums where people are either giving away or raffling it off. And i dont think that once people actually know how this works, they'd be wiling to shell out a key for it. I mean, most of the key sales seem to have been quite a few days old, before the word spread that this would auto generate and would essentially be in infinite supply.

They really aren't the same. Gift wrapped items are exchanged via the trade window and can be done without any risk to the buyer or seller. These tickets require someone to go first. Completely different situation.

I was mostly talking about the trades where the buyer is required to supply the gift wrap(which was more common than the latter), of course trades with pre-wrapped items are 100% safe, but the former really wasn't.

After talking with the other mods, we have unanimously agreed that pricing of items should be limited to items that are actually "traded" - ones that are exchanged through the regular trading window. The vast majority of these are being given away for free anyways, so I don't really think 0.5-1 keys captures the most common trade point.

I find it a strange moral that people are trying to sell these... but some people have no morals. Unsure if this should be priced tbh
