Countering this cherry-picking manipulation.
Two sales:
1) http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198053060686#!/compare/1476316800/1476489600
Sold for 58 pure
2) http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198135763017#!/compare/1477180800/1477267200
Sold for 35 pure.
Taking a range.
2 was qs, bought in less then few days and im Selling for higher and there was a Bo of 60 here: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/28548359
58 would be the good price, exept i resell for More/less
when someone sells an unpriced hat for way less then its worth in few days for pure when there is higher sale i call it qs
It's not priced, so how can I be selling it for "less than it's worth?"
Range is too large, 35 pure is probably the low outlier here. Best to wait for a third sale.
Took a week to sell at 45 and couldn't do it, had to take 35 instead. Person who purchased it for 60 couldn't even get what they paid back without contacting me to sell it for them.
That's why I said "probably", not "certainly", and why I said a third sale is needed, to determine which is the outlier. Either it is 35, or 58, but such range will not pass. A week is not enough to say "this hat can't sell for 45" :)
Yes it is.
can you please stop this? the Guy has still an op trade asking 60, CREATED 6 DAYS AGO
you don't even own it for a week, and you are already 'Selling More then a week'
im going to stop after this one, but i still think it ll Just be 58 as i Stated some reasons i quickbought it and if thats not enough, should wait for new sale
http://puu.sh/rUldT/6fd003fa74.png October 18th.
well it's October 24th, so that makes today day 6...
Hat was for sale before it was in my possession.
By the very rules, it's not. I was not debating when I said that. Two weeks would be enough, not one.
There is no rule defining this.
Quoting this here from polar.
"A good rule of thumb is to go by roughly 25 keys per week. So a trade for a hat <25 keys in value must be up for at least a week. A trade for a hat <50 keys must be up for at least 2 weeks. A trade for a hat <75 keys must be up for at least 3 weeks. For all other hats, the trade must be up for at least a month in order to price them based off the b/o. "
posted here http://forums.backpack.tf/index.php?/topic/6033-guide-for-unusual-price-suggestions/
not a rule just a guideline though :P
either way its probably best to wait for a third sale as the range is quite large. If it sold in a week I'd say thats pretty fast but there seems to be no confirmation it was a quicksell.

That rule is sketchy at best Lila. Made a purchase myself in less then a day of item being listed and the b/o stood when it was priced(item was a one of one, fresh unbox).
its a guideline at best :P not a set rule :P
It might be sketchy, but if anything, it's too pessimistic. I had a death by disco neptune that I sold for 80 keys pure after more than a month. Following the guideline's logic, it would have had been safe to say after three weeks "this neptune cannot sell for 80 keys, since after three weeks it did not sell with such buyout". And that's just one example among the many times such thing happened.
In this case, the guideline would suggest to wait like two weeks only, and that's already pessimistic. Sometimes hats sell very quickly out of luck, sometimes they take a lot of time. One week is NOT enough to say a ~50 keys hat cannot sell for that much.
What you are quoting is a a part in the rules about using B/Os only to drop, that is in no way related to this suggestion and only confuses others. :P
I'm a scrub salvage. I'll leave myself outta of this one because I'm clearly a nub.
it is kind of related to the situation, though.
People asking for less without much success may not tell us that it cant possibly sell for more, but it does tell us that a flat value of 58 may be on the high side.
My stance on this matter is as follows:
We have the following sales here:
- It took about 7 months to sell for 58
- It took about 10 days to sell for 35
Both sales are pure, and there are indicators that both sales may not represent a proper flat value (i.e 35 went kinda fast so may be low; 58 took ages, and it has been for sale for less for a while). If this gets priced now, then this will be the better suggestion of the two.
However, my concern here is the nature of the sales. One person pays 58 and then continues to sell for 35. It cant be because of different unusual appraisal since both sales were in pure, indicating that whoever did these trades directly downgraded his pure for some reason. That's usually an indication they either have no idea what they're doing, or that they regret their purchase. Just like people that make a trade and then trade back afterwards, Im really uncomfortable having such sales being used to establish a range. In the case of a tradeback its very likely that at both sales will end up being outliers (usually, traders only accept tradebacks if their buyback is less than what they initially received, resulting in one high and one low sale).
I'd personally leave this unpriced for now, but Ill leave it for another mod to judge.
We should honestly wait for a third sale, just to see whether 35 or 58 was the outlier. Personally, I think that 35 is a bit too low, but only time will tell.
All the mods I've spoken about this agree with me on this matter. leaving this unpriced.
