From what I've seen most players prefer craftables over uncraftables. There are plenty of items which have their craftables worth higher than their uncraftable counter parts. For example: Strange third degree, strange manmelter, strange classic, strange airstrike, and the strange bonkboy. So I think it's fair to say your point is not valid in this case.
