Suggestion 14/14

1/1 hat, congrats on the purchase Jhejh poT!

Only sale:

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198193619870#!/compare/1506643200/1507420800

Histories are weird as sale seems to be split into multiple different trades, all unusuals were from Jhejh though:

CPS modest (37) + PE Pipe (16) = 53

Minis:

PE Pipe

1:1 Aces High Wraith Wrap = 16 keys

Help is appreciated!

gl selling for 600 my dude :^)

Going to stop here as I believe my point has been made, Jhejh has sharked & scammed multiple hats, this is only a showcase of his newer sharks/scams not all of them as it would be near impossible to showcase every incident.

You could just report him with the 0 key purchase trades and have mods investigate on Outpost, or even Steamrep if needed.

BTW he did pay a PE all class and a taunt for a total of 150 for that Arcana, so might wanna double check histories before reporting the potential 0 key sales.

            https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198095442122#!/compare/1510012800/1510099200

I see nothing being sent to the unboxer as payment?

You can see them from Jhejh's side, but not sure if the other 2 trades had items involved, youll have to check histories of all items removed at the time of the sale.

The PE all-class was used as a sale for another hat he recieved it from a trade i got my sales mixed up. I haven't looked at all his hats but he can't have spent more than 120 on it total, still a shark and I have a feeling those other unusuals were also used in different sales. I'll take a closer look at it now.

EDIT: The sale was for 193 in unusuals, haven't checked his keys but the sale is roughly 200 it seems. Still a shark if you consider him reselling it for 450 keys, also regardless of this hat he has used his alt to scam an unusual, the other scam may be a weird item history or also a legitimate scam.

What the hell is going on? Why is this so damn common :3

This is an absurd outlier, there's a buyer in classies willing to pay 65 for any lightning lid. May as well close it.

Shark/Scam, and of course invalid. Downvote.

No need to trash talk and disrespect. Suggestions are not for "community awareness," go start a group and do that there. We don't care for that on suggestions. We all know 1 weapon is not an accurate intrinsic value for any unusual.

Well ignoring that, what about the sharked unusuals? A lot of them are sharks depending on how you look at it. The flies Inspiration that Jhejh own is not worth 400 keys yet he massively underpaid for what he's now asking. Where's the line drawn for these new hats between shark and legitimate sale. Personally I could consider the SBTWC Chieftain's a legitmate sale at 400 but when Jhejh asks for 2000 on it (even though it will never resell for that) is it considered a shark or a bad relisted price?

Our stance on sharking is not just based on the value deficit in trades. To successfully ban someone for sharking, it must be proven that he/she used deceiving tactics to trick and mislead inexperienced people to let them believe either their own items they've unboxed are worth less than they realisticly are, or the items that they get offered are worth more than they realisticly are. We believe that the malpractice here lies within the fact that the users are mislead rather than the lopsided trade itself. We are aware that there are ways around this, and that many disagree with the way we determine sharks for banning purposes, and if you want to discuss that, you will need to do so elsewhere.

The listing price situation you allude in the comments above is not how sharking works, by the way. If I buy a 10 key hat for 10 keys and then list it for 400 then evidently I did not shark the hat. If someone pays 190 in hats for something that isnt priced and relists it for 450, then that does not equal sharking, not even according to the price restriction of other site's definition of sharking even if 450 would be realistic. For that aspect of the definition, a community-wide agreed realistic value would be weighed against the sale that occurred, not just the listed price of the buyer, or what one collector may pay for something (as in that regard, everyone is a shark compared to collectors willing to pay 500% of a realistic price for their dream items)

If you want to report sales as they are, then do that and only that. The issue here is the naming and shaming in the last paragraph, which makes your intentions overly obvious. Again, if you want to raise awareness, suggestions are not the place to do that. Future suggestions with naming and shaming will be closed.

well, i reported him announcing a roboactive burning bandanna as 190 keys while spellbound's 120, it's a very obvious attempt at misleading the price, but the report was just ignored. Proof was provided even. However, it was just ignored, allowing him to remain without a sharking tag.

To quote" o successfully ban someone for sharking, it must be proven that he/she used deceiving tactics to trick and mislead inexperienced people to let them believe either their own items they've unboxed are worth less than they realisticly are, or the items that they get offered are worth more than they realisticly are"

I hate when people nowadays manipulate prices like Jhejh pot. It is very common to see that way to trade. An easy example are unusual trade servers. Jhejh pot is not the only, there are more and they love make suggestions on bp.tf

What ABOUT sharked unusuals? Why waste price mods' time? You have to understand that you're punishing us for someone else's shark (if they even sharked, you might even be punishing us for nothing). Foamy got into the specifics of sharking in his comment, so I'll save you the trouble here. Next time, I'd make a report that complies with our sharking policy.

uhhhh well, if this suggestion passes by votes, and the price is low, there's nothing wrong with it being a legit suggestion, right? If you close it on the basis of it seeming to be trolling by the OP, despite evidence of his sharking being sent before and reported with nothing done, won't it seem that Jhejh has the bp.tf admins in his pockets?

Way I see it, 1) let the suggestions pass for voting, since it was done with the proper background check, despite it being low. It shows the value he traded with, preventing him from earning too much of a profit if he sharked, and the unusual should resume it's normal price in the market after a while

                      2) Close all these threads on the basis of trolling and make it seem that bp.tf admins are dirty

                      3) Take a stance, evidence have been provided and reported on jhejh for sharking before, it just got buried. I know because i provided the actual proof of it and reported with a downvote, it was taken off in less than 2 hours.

I see where you're coming from with your first paragraph and first point, but pricing unusuals based on sharks won't hinder anyone and I can see it making people lose trust in backpack. I don't see how pricing it low is a punishment for anyone, unusuals sell above and below bp price all of the time. That is why price suggestions exist. With a little bit of critical thinking, it becomes clear that nobody has anybody in their pockets. As for your third point, if you found evidence, please report it. Make and actual report and don't "report it with a downvote."

i did. Shall i report it again?

                  reporting the sale as is
