You have to provide the item history + compare to see that it actually was the demonflame one (could theoretically be for a massed flies one aswell)

To shed some light on the situation discussed above:

We ban for trading with scammers because we expect people to do background checks so to avoid trading with scammers and/or purchasing stolen goods. We think it's reasonable to expect a trader to check out the profile of their trading partner to see if they are legitimate. This becomes really difficult on less transparent marketplaces, in particular on the SCM, since - aside from an avatar - you do not get any information about the seller prior to your purchase. Only an avatar is usually not enough to retrace the whereabouts of an item prior to being listed, even more so since backpack.tf does not register the item if it is listed on the SCM (because it can't be found in any backpack at that point).

In most cases, unless it concerns a well-known trader with a unique avatar, there's no way of knowing who you're trading with on the SCM (and even in the case posed it could still be an impersonator). Therefore we do not expect traders to research who they're buying from when they trade on the SCM. This means that there are no repercussions for trading there, even if the trade ended up being with a scammer. As such, trades of this nature are considered valid for pricing purposes.

What bothers me more here is the fact that it was offered on and declined by buyers, though on the other hand I must say that it seems apparent that it was only rejected because the offerer was a scammer (or at least that it plays a role; normally you can't tell if it would've been accepted if it wasnt for the fact that they were a scammer, but these are buy orders, which makes it pretty clear). That's one of the reasons why we do not use scammer sales: because scammers do not contribute to a common trading point. Since trading with scammers results in negative consequences, scammers have a very limited trading audience, and will likely have to offer exceptionally good deals to get rid of their items. Apparently they managed to sell in a place where their trading status was secluded and therewith no longer a withholding factor, after failing to do so out in the open.
