Gee w0wzers, I wonder why it sold for this low! Maybe he panicsold out of fear from some 225 suggestion oh wait yes it was he told me himself xd

Suggestions reflect what people have paid/sold for, if he paid 226, then the seller felt it was worth that

og owner had it at around 400 for a bit but needed money from what I was told, but it's whatever now.

I do want to point out that 'panicselling' out of fear over a suggestion doesn't mean the suggester is to blame; it just means that the owner himself was not confident he could get his buyout for the hat.

Price suggestions should not influence one's ability to sell an item. The same goes for hats that drop in price (though the situation is even more iconic for unpriced items); if the sales in the suggestion are correct and not countered by anything, then a suggestion to drop is fine. Someone complaining that they won't be able to sell for more just support the suggestion in such a case; if it was really worth more, it'd still sell for more.

I'm aware that suggestions do actually influence the market (especially when it concerns drops) and that people will be more hesistant to buy when a suggestion is open to lower something, but in reality (barring poor or incorrect suggestions of course), it just means that they needed the outdated, high price to be able to sell it off at a higher value, i.e they need a value that is no longer accurate to make people believe it'd be worth more in order to be able to sell it "at a discount" even though they're simply flipping for profit. I've seen wrong suggestions (where items were missing or where data was cherry-picked or sales were genuinely overlooked) become self fulfilling prophecies and I realize that that's a situation we don't want (and will try to prevent that wherever I can), but if the data points are correct and okay to use, a suggestion should not be an issue.

On unpriced hats it's a little different, but the concept is the same. If you list it at 400 you'll either manage to sell it or you won't. The latter case means it's very likely not worth 400, and probably explains why you were able to purchase it so far under 400. If 225 is really so ridiculous and if it is really worth 400, it will sell for 400.

The concept of "he needed money" as an excuse makes no sense here; he just invested in this hat and swapped it for another hat. If he needed the money he would've sold it (or whatever he paid/received for it) for cash :P.

The whole purpose of the site is to show what items sell for, to give people an indication of value. If you're confident that something is worth 400 and that 225 is outrageously low, then why did you manage to get it for 225?:P If you do not want a suggestion based on that, you're basicly saying you dont want others to know what you paid just so you can make a large(r) profit margin, which honestly is a lot more selfish and questionable to me than someone simply reporting a sale to provide market insight :P

Hey, I'm the guy that bought the law before selling it for that mask. So to explain my thought process behind the deal, here it is: I was looking for good hats to offer on like most traders do. In that moment I looked on the back and found an Amaranthine Law for about 210 Keys. I was surprised since the guy tried to sell it for 350 keys about 1 or 2 weeks earlier. I thought hey this isn't a bad deal, it could easily fetch 300-450. Not to mention I personally like the hat and effect. So I decided to hit him up with a 200 key offer in items (btw he looked like he was quitting for CSGO). He declined and asked for 235 pure. I thought about my options for a while. I decided that if I get the hat I would sell it for 425 as a.sort of filler price until I'm ready to sell it for around the high 300s so that I could wear it for a while (that's why you see not in a rush to sell). So to get the pure, I Q's my hats and added a knife so that I paid around 229 pure. So then my plan started, put it up for a high amount and only receive rare expensive offers so I can wear it for a decent amount of time. Then after about 8 hours I found the suggestion at 225 and was a little confused. I thought to myself although 225 was a valid price, I considered my law to be a that good deal or QS's that you sometimes snatch up (like that hat of cards I gave to MTC for 100 keys). Then all that happened, so I saw no hope anymore. I started to panic sell it (Smart move? Maybe?) and got an offer for a pyromancers mask. I took it and that's that. As for what I think about 229 being public, I don't really mind, but for a general price to be around that not sure. Overall, I just considered it a good deal so I took it and the rest is history. And to answer whether i'm selfish, I can say sure, you could put like that. Who doesn't like some nice profit?

Don't get me wrong; I'm not calling you out specifically, and wanting profit is fine. Just trying to put complaints about suggestions (which I saw a lot on this and the previous one) in perspective here.

                Ah I see, understandable.

I mean, i like to guy, but if he actually panic sold he is well... not smart? I guess is the nicest i can word it. You keep on talking about how the initial suggested price was low and to that i really have no words.

"...not smart?" As a prolific price-suggestor, I think that in situations like these I seriously think you should just close it and wait for another sale, you said yourself that "dumping" it for 425 would be alot harder...

Putting this in as a separate remark so that you don't need to weed through the wall of text to find it:

Is there anything more recent on that mancer? the sale from the last suggestion is from over half a year ago :P
