Seems like you found my purchase pretty quick. It probably will make a buzz since its such a odd hat with such short history of selling.

why would you pay that much for it

That's his money man, let him be happy

Hello there. I am sorry for the late response. I was at my job all day and could not come back sooner to reply. I will try my best to be breif with my explanation of the purchase, but we need to go back six years.

When I started the game, I was just a simple trader. I was trading hat for hat and getting what i could to move up in the trading community. I then discovered the Ketche. A Harvest Moon Ketche. It was so ugly, and repulsive. But it struck a chord with me. It was the first unusual ive ever seen. I was so dumbfounded and awestruck I needed it.

So on I traded, with a goal in mind now to get a Unusual Ketche. After a bit, I finally got a Unusual Ketche. But oh no, I couldn't just have one. I wanted them all. So thats when I started my first collection. I bought all the Ketches i could with cash instead. I worked at Walmart so I could support this hobby I thought. I snagged the Hellfire one for like 40somethin keys 6 years ago. It was my prized possession!

Then I had to consolidate and sell. Walmart cut my hours and i was a dumb college student that was just broke. So off the ketches went. This included the hellfire one. It traded hands one more time before landing on Guns Backpack.

I eventually started up another collection. I just struck a job as a welder for a union. I got a career just then and was making bookoo bank. I bought them left and right. All of the rare ones except for Guns Hellfire Ketche. I added him and tried to explain to him I was willing to pay some cash for the hat 5 years ago. He declined, stated he would never sell it, and blocked me.

I tried everything to contact guns. Sending people to speak to him about my offers, Adding his friends to see if he would talk to me, Even tried to see if he had some sort of personal profile on the internet so I could shoot him an email or something. To no avail. I tried the other owner of the other Hellfire Ketche. He did not even speak English and blocked me as well. There were no dupes, so I was screwed. He still has it and he's the unboxer.

I kept buying stuff and then selling again. All of my Ketches meant nothing to me after ahwile. I was rank #500 somethin on bp.tf, but nothing quite felt like the Hellfire Ketche that was in my backpack so long ago. Why amass a collection if I cant even get a hat when money is clearly not the issue? I gave up. Sold them all, and quit. Till recently.

It came back on the market. He was selling it finally! After all of this time! I legit spit my beer out and looked. It was Guns Ketche. (He tried selling it in 2018 on Marketplace but I missed the sale.)

It was a ugly piece of crap. But this Crap came with a price. $950. My stomach hurt. I didn't mind spending thousands on the game just getting what I wanted, but it hurt me to know that 6 years ago, that hat was just short of 80 bucks. And I had to speak to the guy to get the price down. After amassing myself for a day on how I will compose myself to this dude who I spited so much for so long, I finally spoke to him after Six years. We fought and fought on pricing for about a good solid 2 hours. He was firm. I didn't want to scare him to pull it or price gouge it even further, so I left him be.

But then his price started dropping. $850. $750. $650. Oh my god he wanted to sell it. But then he stopped. and I waited. And waited. And waited. He wasn't going to drop it any more. And if he pulled it from market, I will have missed my chance of getting the hat I've been trying to get back in my much deserved inventory for over Half A Decade.

I Pulled the trigger. He got his $650. I got my Ketche.

I've been eyeing this hat for so long, every single day I logged on. I would have paid a grand for it. But because it meant so much to me. That is why I paid what I did for it. There's so much more to the story, but its already long enough for some BP.TF comment. Now you know my Life Story.

TLDR: I Had money. So I spent it.

I like this story, almost identical to my mission in TF2 now.

I used to own a Knifestorm Virtual Reality Headset and Arcana Buckaroo, both I bought off the unboxers when the effects were new. Ended up selling them back then, but shit with the inflation I never would have imagined the prices some of these non-TC items could go for.

I tried to find my Knifestorm Headset but that one is just gone in a private inventory...

The Buckaroo I managed to find, but after I spoke with the current owner, he’s asking for a price even I think is a bit outrageous for it (even now)... that was a year ago, I might need to hit him up again.

Congrats man. Sometimes it's better to spend the money than regret it later when the opportunity is gone. Although the price does seem high, sometimes it's just better to bite the bullet and get it done and over than spend more time thinking about it. As some say, time is money and you already spent a lot of time over the course of half a decade trying to get this hat back.

Once again, congrats man. Reading your story gave me the chills. I'm going to play some casual now. Haha. Damn pixels 😂

              Congrats again 💪❤️

What a harrowing yet magical tale. Congratulations on getting your Ketche.

                  Congrats on the purchase!

              bruh, thats a lot

who the hell would spend that much on this hat wtf ?!

                  Let him be happy.

For a second I thought it was 367 to 44.

Not sure why people are judging...the value 1 of 1s/1 of 2s really just vary on whoever is purchasing it. “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder” as they say.

100% agree here, and I personally think it's a pretty awesome hat! Looks like something a secret cult would wear, so having the hellfire pentagram there really suits it I feel.

People like to be snobs, just ignore them.

That's one hell of a purchase.

Sunbeams Masque could not have been a bigger impulse purchase made by an inexperienced trader that bought into TF2 trading with cash. The suggestion should have been a quick rejection. The guy had a $6 backpack months earlier, and he's had it listed on marketplace.tf for $7,500 for a month. Not his dream hat, and clearly displaying some buyers remorse.

Karl paid $650 for a hat he's been collecting for years (I think?). Halloween effect, yadda yadda, there's a least some justification for the price paid. Now.. if Karl paid $1555 for the ketche, I'd be confused af..

im bout to blow myself up
