Suggestion: Refined Metal at $0.04–$0.05

I know that the rules say to use cash -> keys sales as main proof for ref suggestions, but since they sell consistently at $0.05 on Marketplace.tf I don't really see why $0.05 couldn't be included

same situation here, don't include marketplace sales because mods have explicitly said not to in the past:

going by the provided cash sales, looks like ref is still $0.04. since this is currency idk if it can be refreshed or just keep the 1 year old price

you can't refresh non-unusuals unless they are "high-tier", so no

yes, non-unusuals don't get refreshed. regardless of the timespan.

all of this stuff is in the rules

sad but true. at the same time it had to be done otherwise people would literally be suggesting pointless refreshes 24/7 (take craft weapons as an example, god knows how many people would try and refresh those every month if it was allowed)

Key prices went down

I bought around 1700 keys (1.71$ each) last week and today/tomorrow i am gonna buy another 700 keys (1.71$ each again...)

1,71/45 = 0,038 = ~4 cent

Mp.tf sales the past 7 days (1.88, 1.88, 1.89, 1.88, 1.87, 1.87, 1.87 = ~1,877)

1,877/45,50 = 0,041 cent = ~4 cent

And as far as i am aware of the rules the only thing what matters is:

avg sales price in USD / key price in ref = ref price

I am not in range of 4.5 cent and neither is mp.tf :S.

So when it comes down to it even though ref is selling in the majority at 5 cents. For it to be changed on bp.tf like you said it has to be by average key price not refined price on marketplace.

back when i made this suggestion keys had dropped to about 42 ref, making everyone's bp tank in value (myself included) which prompted me to make this suggestion, where the 4.5 cents back then may have made sense to show the accurate value of everyone's bps. now, not so much, but ill leave this open just in case

Why is this suggestion taking so long to go through, the new key price went through in like 1 1/2 days?

Because it has a bigger economy impact. If this goes through then every tf2 backpack goes up in value by 12.5%

I get that but but look at marketplace sales over almost the last month. Also it would be 25%, ref is 4 cents 25% of that is 1 cent, ref would go from 4-5 cents so in essence a 25% increase in value of the original value. WHICH IS CRAZY for a currency.

That's actually pretty fair, although marketplace sales are pretty favored for 5 Cents. I can see them taking the median value.

Backpack.tf prices it's ref based off of keys sold for real cash (Paypal), not what ref sells for on marketplace.tf

Really, that's quite odd since on marketplace we have direct ref sales for irl money. Why would the key price need to be involved?

That's just the way it is, Backpack.tf has rules about using IRL cash to key sales divided by the key price in ref to find out how much ref is worth, not just what it sells for on a site

i know it's not a valid proof, but according to key price at marketplace.tf ref price can be calculated as follows 1.86 / (410/9) ≈ 0.04

Since key prices are going back up I don’t think this will go through. Market has stabilized.
