i dont understand this hat

Vintage means an item that existed prior to 2012 I believe shortly after the Pyrovision update. Ghastliest Gibus was only obtainable for accounts that are extremely old to the game, as in players who earned a Ghostly Gibus in 2009 or 2010 I believe. Meaning, those who owned one prior to 2012, had their Ghastliest Gibus made into Vintage Quality.

They're due to Steam Support returning items, same reason any Vintage item priced above 100 keys exist.

thats not what i meant. i know it is rare. i just dont get why someone would spend almost 600 dollars on a glorified gibus.

Honestly, might as well ask why people buy hats at all.

Why would people buy collector's items, when they're just regular items with red borders.

People buy these items for their exclusivity and the prestige. Not to mention, Gibus is the most iconic hat in the game. People just want a "very rare" Gibus.

i mean, with collectors weapons atleast, people do get to see it whether they like it or not; if you manage to kill them. i feel like collectors/vintage cosmetics just get kinda unnoticed unless someone is specifically looking out for them.
