(1) We will only accept suggestions for skins greater than 10 keys or ~25 USD on SCM in value. Quality of the item will not matter.
Rationale: A lot more sales happen on SCM than anywhere else for the really low tier skins. And the SCM price will automatically be updated and updated much more quickly than manual updates for suggestions. Let's leave these <10 key items alone.
I know there's rules involved but I somewhat agree with pricing this, since backpack relies on SCM prices some people have jumped the prices up, making this seem worth 16.5 keys, very possible to attempt sharking. I wonder if this will get accepted then revoked later on once the data sorts itself out. To try and limit the sharking. Clearly 3 ref is more representative than 16 keys also!
Sadly I don't think they will accept this. There are tons of scenarios where the pricing using SCM prices is inaccurate. It also happens a lot on Killstreaks kits/weapons and fabricators too (i.e my Spec ks Big Kill being priced at ~6 keys when buyers are like 9) and if they had to fix every single one it would probably take forever. Yeah, I would agree with pricing this too, but I have doubts about it going through. There's a reason why mods don't accept suggestions on low value skins and I think they'll stick with that
I completely agree that pricing a bunch of skins or killstreaks is generally a waste of time. Arguably this still isn't a low-valued one since someone will say it's worth 16 keys (which is above 10 keys that you need to price skins hehe ;) ). I was thinking more of a temporary fix for something like this as opposed to redoing the suggestion rules and allow low-tier pricing.
I can't find the suggestion, but there was an example where someone tried to price an unusual at 420 ref, because that was the trade was. Mods said (iirc) that they would've accepted if other hats didn't exist as it leaves ambiguity with prices. The rules state price items like unusuals in Keys but there was almost an exception. This could be that exception.
I'm not saying it's a waste of time since the auto SCM pricing isn't always reliable, I'm just saying the mods might not do it for the reason I stated above. However as you said it is currently valued at 16 keys, so there is a small chance this might go through I guess
I agreed, I'm just saying there is rule about that, also there is more sharkable skins (like Piña Polished skins) How we can deal with them all? That's takes a lot of effort, but it might be worth it. As you said ''Clearly 3 ref is more representative than 16 keys also!'' Totally agreed with you.
Normally, these are not accepted because we generally let the market take care of itself. It seems however that there's an issue with the SCM autopricing, possibly related to the unrealistic peak sale last July:
Currently seeing if the issue can be resolved. If that does not happen any time soon, then we may accept this as a temporary countermeasure to prevent people from believing this is worth 300x its actual value. This means that if the autopricing routine works as intended again, the manually set price would be reverted.
The value still isnt updating correctly, so this will be accepted as a placeholder. Should the issue be fixed, this will be reverted and closed.
DISCLAIMER:
This does NOT mean that this suggestion should be used as a template for just any low tier warpaint. This is an exception to 'manually' fix an error in the displayed SCM value due to a high outlier. I am willing to accept similar cases IF AND ONLY IF the price displayed is objectively way too high (or low, should that happen, but Im more worried about these hyper-inflated displayed values).
SCM pricing for this has fixed, so as mentioned above, this placeholder is no longer needed.
Several of these are being sold on the community market, mostly in the $0.15-0.25 price range.
