Mannco as of 03-03-2021: nuthin ever even listed
SCM: Nope.
Only sale at 8 keys.
under 10 keys and a skin :P
Factual statement.
In the backpack.tf rules, only skins that are over 10 keys worth can be priced.
Knew I shoulda listed it higher but I wanted that damn Spectrum pyro head.
What an arbitrary pricepoint. That's more than a fair amount of unusuals.
gonna send this before the usual guy comes...
https://forums.backpack.tf/topic/36705-rules-for-non-unusual-suggestions/
(jk, rly though this won't go through sadly)
I disagree with that rule in this case considering the sheer dearth of data for this Death Deluxe skin. It's been 6 months and this is the first conclusive sale.
This is less a skin and more a collector's item at this point.
(1) We will only accept suggestions for skins greater than 10 keys or ~25 USD on SCM in value. Quality of the item will not matter.
Rationale: A lot more sales happen on SCM than anywhere else for the really low tier skins. And the SCM price will automatically be updated and updated much more quickly than manual updates for suggestions. Let's leave these <10 key items alone.
This skin has not even been listed on SCM or any other cash site for over 6 months now. I don't see how that rationale applies to this case.
Sadly that's just the way it is...
https://backpack.tf/stats/Unusual/Spiky%20Viking/Tradable/Craftable/33 took me 5 seconds to find an unusual who's first price was accepted 8 months ago for less than 8 keys.
It's a blanket statement to cover all skins, so there isn't a gray area in what is or isn't allowed if we were to accept these on a case-by-case basis.
https://backpack.tf/stats/Strange/Death%20Deluxe%20%7C%20Shotgun%20(Factory%20New) https://backpack.tf/stats/Strange/Death%20Deluxe%20%7C%20Shotgun%20(Factory%20New)/Tradable/Craftable
what about items that don't even seem to exist?
The first link is an invalid URL because you didn't put the /Tradable/Craftable.
Not sure what you mean by the second not existing.
https://backpack.tf/premium/search?item=Shotgun&texture_name=Death%20Deluxe&wear_tier=1&quality=11 - There are several that exist
The site code being unable to accurately reflect the number in existence on the stats page doesn't make an item imaginary, nor does it change how we handle suggestions for that item.
So then where do I go to contest an outdated and arbitrary cutoff value that is now 4 years old?

https://gladiator.tf/listings?item=Strange+Death+Deluxe+Shotgun+%28Factory+New%29 oh wow, nuthin
https://backpack.tf/stats/Strange/Death%20Deluxe%20%7C%20Shotgun%20(Factory%20New)/Tradable/Craftable there's nothin here, too! somehow sold literally nuthin for 8 keys
waow
We have the cutoff rule for skins in place to avoid having to manually suggest tens of thousands of suggestions on skins and war paints, which would be a lot of work for ultimately no reason, as SCM autopricing generally handles them better than we can (more frequent and with much less effort). The threshold was set at 10 keys since usually, any logical exceptions to that rule would be higher tier skins that do not commonly sell - if something was rare enough to meet the requirements it would typically be a skin priced higher than 10 keys.
That being said, it the rules also state that given the proper rationale, an exception can be made with the right rationale.
In this particular case there may actually be such a reason, as from what I could find, we indeed dont really have anything else to go by. If this does indeed remain the only sale, and we dont see a bunch of them being listed on the SCM, I would not be opposed to accepting this AS AN EXCEPTION
This does mean that we'll be leaving this up for a while to see if it resells.
I want to stress here that this does NOT mean that we changed or revoked the standing rule, it just means that we have an exceptional case where an appropriate rationale has been supplied. In accordance, this means that this specific case should not be used as a new standard or reference to price just any few-ref skin, as that is still ultimately redundant.
The rationale here works, but would have to meet these requirements:
- No other current (serious) sellers or listings anywhere on the frequently used trading platforms (so bptf, SCM, MP et cetera), and no other sales for at least half a year. If this would have been a single SCM sale, we would not have allowed this - this only works because there's no autopricing to go by.
