Oh lordy the big kahuna dance dance revolution

Sale 1:

Mp.tf sale at $199.99 in June

https://marketplace.tf/items/tf2/1162;5;u3036

https://manic.tf/keyprice/?at=2021-06-24

$199.99/$1.84 ~ 108.69 keys, rounding to 108 to keep ranges even

Sale 2:

My own purchase, agreed with Crust on 80 keys

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198070664972#!/compare/1631577600/1631664000

Paid some in items, but took current quickbuys into account for the 80 total, so the total still ended up at 80. I was just too lazy to quicksell at the moment, 160 - 40 (flip) - 40 (skullcracker) = 80

Sale 3:

https://backpack.tf/item/7880948078

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198065970693#!/compare/1631404800/1631664000

Either sold for 26 keys or 12.5ish, either way, severe outlier.

Sale 4:

https://backpack.tf/item/5398454654

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198123373965#!/compare/1625184000/1625270400

Looks like 61.something keys, considering an outlier looking at quickbuys at ~76 though.

Sale 5:

https://backpack.tf/item/4408917218

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198301015840#!/compare/1631318400/1631404800

I'm not... entirely sure what happened here?

https://backpack.tf/profiles/76561199111082769#!/compare/1631232000/1631318400

Yeah this one is a bit whack. Think it's just an exchange between friends or some real world goods involved.

This is not proof of a sale. Get screenshots of your inventory history.

I still fail to understand what you're finding difficult, I paid 160 for all 3 at once with the nominations 40, 40, and 80. Are you asking the seller to get individual screenshots proving they quicksold the taunts I traded them for values that would total 160? It sounds like you firmly believe I bought each one separately.

If it helps you more than the compare link does in some way, here you go: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/712849697156628552/888004467167985694/unknown.png

Declaring that you and person you traded with valued stuff at X etc. is not valid. You'd need to actually prove what the items involved are worth. Refer to my previous comments and this https://forums.backpack.tf/topic/6033-rules-for-unusual-price-suggestions/

I'm not going to bother Crust for individual screenshots on however much he sold those items for, however I will show the chat log that should be more than satisfactory for their "values":

We were both looking at bot buy listings and I presume he immediately sold them after obtaining, I would've gotten keys from them first if I knew it'd make it so complicated for some of us, but I trust we won't need further contact.

"however I will show the chat log that should be more than satisfactory for their "values":"

It isn't. Refer to the rules. If you're valuing them based on the quickbuying bots, it's likely you're undervaluing the trade.

Both sides agreed to the values, I didn't feel like getting the keys immediately at the time, and from there don't give a care if the bots make any extra value off of those. Looking at the current histories of each of those items, they sold same/next day to those exact quickbuyers, same results with some extra steps on Crust's behalf. Keep policing if you'd like, but all the evidence certainly says I paid 80 for the low end value.

      To clear up sale 5:

Cold is my bot, I was depositing items to it.

I received the taunt in a bulk trade for a csgo item.

Ah I see, no wonder I couldn't figure anything out haha, mind giving some numbers or does it still support the range fairly well?

my sales don't affect the suggestion at all, one is bulk (over 700 keys in value on each side) and the other is just me moving it to my bot.

With how many lower sales are excluded here and the plethora of sellers around 90, I think this is too high.

    On a separate note:

I agree with the concern regarding sale 2; not so much the bit about the stuff that was qsed, but more the tags of 40 for the other taunts. You cannot put random tags of 40 keys on those other taunts to make this one 80. The only ways that should be done is if 1) all items are valued the same (where you can simply divide the total by the number of hats bought), or 2) if you buy multiple items for their respective buyout.

Its probably best to see if any new sales happened and re-assess the suggestion.

Well the June sale is definitely out of range now since the suggestion has been out for 3+ months. Also, the tags were not random but agreed on a b/o of 40/40/80 on the three Magical Spirit taunts. At this point the Steam chat is beyond gone, but I can ask for verbal confirmation again if necessary?

But yes I can agree with the 108 being a bit too high, but then I believe my purchase at 80 would be the only viable one. Unless more sold lately of course, but I don't have access to all that information at this time. In the meantime, a full resuggestion using only mine for a flat value of 80 would be more readily accepted?

Verbal agreements are almost always arbitrary; its very easy for a seller to factor in discounts for buying multiple things at once, for example, something that can never be properly integrated in a value. In addition, he would obviously also have settled for the same value if the split was 30 30 100, or 50 50 60 - the more items involved in such a deal, the less accurate the pricing is.

As a further clarification, a b/o (buyout) is not something that is discussed or negotiated by its definition. A buyout is a listed price that the seller would instantly take at any given time. If you need to discuss or negotiate anything with the seller, you are by default not paying a buyout. The situation I meant when I mentioned it was a situation where the items were listed for a certain price, and someone just ends up buying multiple things for their listed value; i.e. if someone buys 3 hats off the same person that were listed at 20, 30 and 40 respectively, and pays a total of 90 keys, he just paid the listing value for each hat. If they, on the other hand, added the seller and negotiated the deal down to, say, 75 keys for all 3, then the split is already arbitrary. Does it become 5/30/40? 20/30/25? a percentage of the discount applied to everything? the latter is something that generally doesnt really work since more often than not, the same discount would not have been given, had the person only offered on one thing.

Normally when we handle these so late, they either get accepted as is, closed, or there is a clear resuggest option which we can recommend, but in this case, there are arguments against all sales. Since the market has changed since, it is best not to use this data (e.g. the current market drastically opposes 108, and does not oppose 61 at all; something that (if I understand correctly) was not the case back then). Especially since the sales are so divided (ranging from ~25 to 100+), it would generally not have been a bad idea to wait for more sales, but in this case - all things considered - it is best to either leave it outdated or to see if there are any new usable sales and then use those for an update here.

Alright then, thanks for the thorough explanation. I like to personally price items I plan to keep, which may explain some of my distress about this, but looks like I'll just wait for somebody else to make it (or resell it) in the meantime. Thanks!
