Be careful with relying on sales that are about to go outdated as your only data point, especially when the hat was very recently updated. Always verify the market shortly before the sale to see if your sale is not an outlier. The 3 month threshold is there to give you a decent time frame within which you can assess sales; it is very easily misused (whether intentional or not) if you are using sales that are almost 3 months old already.

As an example - if it is december 4th today, and you use a sale from september 5th as your only data point, but it also sold 3 times at september 3rd at a vastly different value (either far higher or far lower, such that the data point from sept 5 is realistically an outlier), then the threshold rules would imply you use the only usable sale even though evidently it should not be considered as such.

This case is a little less extreme (with sales from between mid june-mid july, so between 1 and 2 months before this), but the idea is the same here.
