buyout was $335 on mptf, mptf key = $1.81

        $335/$1.81 = 185 key buyout, no?

There was some discussion about this suggestion and whether or not we should cap this at its marketplace buyout, since marketplace buyouts are occasionally used to cap sales for items to get closer to the pure indication of the item. Given the time it was listed, an argument could be made here that this too should be capped. This poses a rather unusual situation, as in our experience, items typically sell slightly higher on marketplace, especially given the fact that fees cause a discrepancy between what is paid and what is received by the seller.

We've evaluated arguments in favor of capping and in favor of accepting this as is. Two important points that tipped the scales:

        1) Buyout caps are meant to represent the value something can sell for in pure keys. This servers as a means to eliminate uncertainties in the value of the items involved for anything that is not pure keys. For this reason, it makes little sense to issue a buyout cap for something that sold for pure keys, since there is no uncertainty in the key value of a key (since 200 keys = 200 keys exactly). There have been rare cases where a pure sale was capped, or received a range because it was listed at a lower price, indicating that something else caused it to sell for more. This is something we considered doing here, but the majority felt that the value of a key is a higher degree of pure than the USD value of said items, favoring using the sale in keys over the USD price tag.

        2) One argument typically made in favor of capping sales at buyouts is that the buyer could have simply gotten it for a lower value by buying it for the buyout. However, for Marketplace, that means one must sell their keys for cash first in order to be able to buy the item. This means you are effectively stacking fees, which might be a reason for traders to avoid this course of action. Aside from that, I think not everyone is able to sell on Marketplace in order to receive credit used to buy items there. This means that there might also be the decision to not spend real money on a virtual item, but rather sticking to in-game currencies instead. This too favors the use of the key value instead of the USD buyout.

There were many other arguments considered, and ultimately a majority of the pricing mods was in favor of accepting this as is, instead of capping it at its key value. As such, I will accept this.
