Deal executed across a 1 week timeframe, dec 17-24
USDT sent (principal): 93,274
USDT fees: 515.04
93,274 + 515.04 = 93,789.04 USDT
I am explicitly not adjusting for microdeviations from 1 USD that stablecoins inherently have because keys are purchased through crypto using USDT - I am keeping currencies as one without converting to USD
Golden pans used as collateral. Spellbound minnesota also used as collateral. Value for spellbound + bonzo split down middle, so this is going to be $46894.52 /1.62 = 28947 keys

The elephant in the room here is the fact that crypto sales are currently blanket banned under the post here - https://forums.backpack.tf/topic/6033-rules-for-unusual-price-suggestions/#findComment-672988
The current rule against using crypto-only sales for price suggestions is defensible in the general case, but it breaks down when applied at a blanket level to stablecoin transactions, particularly large, clean sales between established traders. The core justification for the rule is volatility, as cited in the rules. That justification simply does not apply to major USD-pegged stablecoins, as stablecoins like USDT are explicitly designed to eliminate the risk this rule guards against. Over the entire 2025 calendar year, USDT has effectively closed at $1.00 USD with negligible deviation. Whatever philosophical objections one may have to crypto broadly, volatility is not one of them in this context. Treating USDT as “too volatile to value” while accepting materially volatile fiat currencies creates an internal contradiction in pricing policy.
Backpack.tf already accepts sales denominated in currencies that have moved double digit percentages against the USD within the same year. A Colombian peso SCM sale strengthening 15% against the dollar is considered valid price evidence but a USDT sale, pegged 1 to 1 to USD by design, is rejected outright. At that point, the rejection is no longer about uncertainty of value, it’s about the label attached to the medium of exchange, which is an incoherent standard for a pricing system.
The second argument of low frequency and difficulty of mini-ing also weakens in the stablecoin case. Large stablecoin sales between highly established traders are structurally closer to cash trades than speculative crypto swaps, as they're typically singular, high notional transactions between known collectors with public reputations that are executed near instantaneously and easy to normalize to USD. These qualities are not the same problem as trying to infer value from scattered, thinly traded altcoins or mainstream coins like BTC or ETH that have the larger volatility issue. If anything, a single clean stablecoin sale between two top traders is more informative than a noisy cluster of small cash trades with unclear side conditions.
The anonymity argument is similarly overstated here. Crypto can be anonymous but so are many cash-adjacent trades. Backpack already relies on corroboration, trader reputation, and context to assess validity. A documented USDT transaction between two well established traders is no harder to validate in practice than a PayPal or bank transfer cash sale, and it's been clearly documented and middlemanned in this situation.
IMO what this ultimately comes down to is scope. The rule was written to prevent unreliable, volatile, or questionable pricing inputs, and applying it to this situation overshoots that goal and excludes legitimately strong data. If this standard isn't revised I feel as though pricing will drift towards an increasingly arbitrary line where volatile fiat are acceptable and the distinction for what is pricable is based on discomfort rather than price integrity. It's principled on paper but breaks down in practice and I am opening these suggestions as a way to bring discourse to the topic and hopefully bring forth a rule change.

There is a pretty strong floor here at 1.62 and only one active buyer at 1.63 - due to overwhelming activity at that range (2800+ keys on munchybot currently) and not many cash-related rep on Frost's recent trust I'm going to take 1.62 flat for a key mini USDC/USDT
I was here when some crypto goober spent his pocket change to buy the funny condom misc with the funny butthole the L-nomming effect
What a waste of money on a mid item..
This making it to the news might be worse rep to TF2 than the bot crisis
