Suggestion: Haunted Ghosts Tropical Brim at 20 keys

with a lack of any other sales, i don't see why we can't use this here. the user had it for almost a year before dumping to a bot. similarly, there was another one on the market after being sold to a bot last year and that one hasn't moved either. if these are the only sales we're getting, maybe they're more indicative of this being an accurate representation of this item's price.

If there were only 1 in existence where it doesn't impact other copies, or this is dropping something that has an existing price with a nonexistent market, that'd be one thing. Given neither's true here, 20 could be low just as 32.5 (the sell listing) could be high. For something this cheap, a deviation of a couple Keys is significant.

I don't agree with this idea, especially since spelled unusuals don't necessarily follow the same sentiment. If we're going to apply that here, we should apply similar rules that pricing spelled unusuals follows, in which there are no non-bot-dump sales amongst the 2 other histories within the last year.

The idea that "20 could be low just as 32.5 is high" doesn't really work when we wouldn't challenge 32.5 (or whatever they settle for) for being too high otherwise, provided they were the only sale.

just want to mention what dolphine usually dropping price on their items after a while. so 32.5keys is not final price on this hat, we can see after 2 weeks it can be listed for expample like 22keys so it wont be that high anymore

It could be worded better, but the spelled sale rules allow bot sales to be used to raise a price, not set one. The conditions for setting a price from a spelled sale are handled in the second case's two sub-bullets. My comment about 32.5 being high is because it hasn't sold. A buy order dump is a theoretical low-end that's too low in the absence of other sales making it a common trade point, and a seller that's been unsuccessful for a while is a theoretical high-end that's too high in the absence of other sales making it an unlucky seller or one in a saturated market.

My point on the seller not having sold is that if, theoretically, the only sale we had was one at such a price, we wouldn't question whether the sale is too high, regardless of how long it was listed for before eventually selling. At best, it'd get left open until the sale's at least a month old, but as long as there's nothing to counter it at all, the suggestion would be totally fine. On the other hand, if all we have is one sale that went to a bot, for a price that nobody is close to matching, we should be able to price the item with that sale.

I don't know if taunts are treated differently by mods, but I have, on numerous occasions, had a suggestion based solely on a bot's purchase pass without any issues:

We had some follow-up discussion on this. Taunts generally have much narrower margins between buy and sell orders, so suggestions for them are more likely to be accepted than for a hat, but the general stance is still that buy order sales still shouldn't be used to set prices unless there's supporting evidence. From your examples, the Skullcracker and Bad Pipes shouldn't have been accepted, but the supporting evidence / buyer-to-seller margins are strong enough for the other suggestions for them to be fine. The Firearm Protector suggestion has no evidence provided for the sale being a buy order, so we'd have had no way of knowing. For the current suggestion, there's nothing else that supports 20 being fine, so it'd still be best to wait for more sales before pricing this.

We'll be discussing this further as a team to ensure more consistency in handling different kinds of suggestions - namely, buy orders and fresh suggestions.

For the record, because I checked after making my comment, regarding the Firearm, I had a buy order at 42, not 45. How would you treat the suggestion with that information?

Alternatively, if a sale went to a buy order, but the buyer had no intention of reselling, what would you do in that situation? I'd assume it'd be case-by-case but what if we use either the Firearm or this suggestion as an example?

If the sale ended up being above buy order price, that's fine. We've made some exceptions in the past for buyers wanting to price their item at the buy order price they paid, but in general, buy order sales should be avoided if newly pricing an item. Buy order dumps to a bot are certainly different from an individual's solo buy order at a price in that regard.

The stance will still remain for this suggestion, so with how long it's been open without response from the suggester, I'm going to close this. We can continue the discussion elsewhere if desired.
