GBH or Glyphosate-Based Herbicides shut down the Shkimate pathway which is how plants synthesize essential aromatic amino acids.

Without them the plants can't synthesize their proteins ans die

The way it works is by mimicking PEP which in the working pathway binds to the EPSPS (enzyme) that then binds it to the S3P (this one binds to the enzyme first then the PEP) to then give EPSP which is the building block of 3 key aromatic amino acids.

We and other animals are safe from it's spy like mimicry as we lack this pathway and instead rely on our diet to get the essential amino acids so instead it gives us cancer.
