They're rare and old, but there's nothing worth it in them - lime and pink can be bought for a key so this crate is a complete piece of junk

@cleverpun : They still have unusuals. pink+lime mean #9 has 1/3 chance of your key's worth back which is pretty rare, and 3 of the 4 other colours can get you 2 rec. Overall, a better avg. RoI than most strange crates.

@Real acct : They do have unusuals, but it's still a 1% chance, the same as crates that drop these days.

cleverpun's post seemed to be implying that since none of the likely drops from the crate were worth more a key then it was junk. That had never been a possibility before the stranges series and people still wasted thousands of keys on unusual gambling. Actually, even now, with most strange series, any hope of getting more than a key's worth relies on a U uncrate.

I wasn't implying it, I was stating it outright. Crates 19, 21, 30 & 40 are valuable because they provide an opportunity for profit without an unusual, and there's nothing to recommend this crate over any others, especially if people would be reckless enough to overpay for one.

Until I see some proof of them selling well I'll leave my neg vote on there

Series 9 was a great crate for its time. A key guaranteed a new paint unavailable anywhere else, or at least a hat. Nowadays, with its paints being available for less than a key (and $2 in USD, if you decide to, which is still cheaper than a key)... I'm not sure if this should have increased value as of just yet.

EDIT: Accounting for lime and pink, yeah, those are good but I think if you have a key you'd probably rather trade for the actual paint outright instead of hoping to unlock one!

I'll leave coz I don't actually know how well they sell. I'd actually put them at 3 weps but I've seen a few people offering 2 scraps.

Answering your remarks would drag us on a discussion on the foolishness of crate gambling and this is really not the place for that. Bottom line is : in the long run/on average it's always cheaper to sell anything you have than to waste a key on a crate (or metal on a craft) in the hope of getting lucky.
