Alright, so here's what's up. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have the tendancy to raise the prices of these keys up to 3.22 or 3.11.
Sure, the market may crash soon, but I'm being too successful with key selling and it's not hard at all to sell keys for 3.11 or 3.22.
Keys are rapidly going up. Don't change the prices, some say. I don't want to either, but I think this is sufficient proof to bring it up, unlike other suggestions.
I would suggest that Backpack.tf disables key pricing altogether, though it would be a risky move. Still, people will always sell higher and buy lower than market prices.
Proof below.
Successful trades at 3.11
http://i.imgur.com/uWR9S.png - 1 key sold for 3.11 refined
http://i.imgur.com/GYwLI.png and http://i.imgur.com/NZUqC.png - 15 keys sold for 46.66 refined, too big of a screenshot to take with one.
http://i.imgur.com/JWwVg.png - 2 keys sold for 5 refined + 22 weapons (6.22 refined)
http://i.imgur.com/qsiXS.png - 3 keys sold for 9.33 refined
http://i.imgur.com/ABuml.png - 1 key sold for 3.11 refined
http://i.imgur.com/ssnLn.png - 1 key sold for 3.11
All these keys had buyers extremely quickly after they were restocked. (At most 2 bumps.) I don't sell at 3.22, though, because it's slower and I'm staying safe for the moment in case of a major key price drop. (Which is not the case right now)
Successful trades at 3.11
http://i.imgur.com/M2Q2B.png - 5 keys sold for 15 refined
My key trade: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/5532861
I get two or more buyers every time I bump my trade, even if I don't have any in stock and I'm not available. After I bump it, if I have keys, they're sold out within minutes.
Making a small change, because large changes will kill the economy.
Quickly Selling for 3 ref
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7069035 - Sold within 8 minutes.
http://imageshack.us/f/19/picture2km.png/ - Sold 10 for 3 ref, offer came in 2 minutes.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6189804 - Lots of people wanting at 3 ref. Tons of offers.
This is the important part. I would bring it to 3.11, but people are easily selling for 3.22 and 3.33. You can still buy for 3, if you try hard. That's why it's at the bottom range.
Selling for 3.11 ref or more
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7008730 - 3.22, 90+ Buyers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7044145 - A few buyers at 3.33
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7068917 - 3.11, keys sold quickly.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7051779 - Offer of 3.11, selling for 3.22
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7032450 - 3.22, 100+ Buyers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7067905#/26161101 - 3.22, 5+ Buyers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6960686 - Lots of offers for more than 3
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7021453 - 1 offer for 3.33, says, "Going Fast."
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7059981 - Claims 12 people added for 3.33 each
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6995353 - Sold lots at 3.33.
Buying for 3 refined or more
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6762129 - 3 refined, very few offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7050803 - 3 refined, no offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7015794 - 3 refined, few offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6977294 - 3 refined, no offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7037380 - 3 refined, no offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7041084 - 3 refined, very few offers
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6986991 - 3.11 refined, not currently buying
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7064200 - 3.11 refined, no offers but lots of sellers, trade probably soon to close.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6992625 - 3.11 refined, soon to close or closed already
I will spend more time helping you guys get evidence to prove my point, if I need to.
Thanks.
Wow, this is great. Finally, a key suggestion I feel comfortable upvoting.
Thank you. Spent lots of time into the evidence. Really hoping that this happens every year, this is my first year trading and I hope the market doesn't crash. People say this happened a long time ago, too.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7067905#/26161101 has bought keys at 2.88.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7008730 hoarded them at 3 ref (This guy shows up a lot in selling for 3 ref trades)
The guy who says "going fast"? He has pages of keys.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7059981 I seriously doubt his claim is accurate
Posted this on the 3-3.33 suggestion:
I'll provide some links.
http://tf2finance.com/keys/ 3 ref
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7036040 3 ref
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7020204 Judging by his bp http://www.tf2outpost.com/backpack/114988 it appears he gets keys.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6991641 http://www.tf2outpost.com/backpack/230210 7 new keys.
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7057828 rejected 3.22 offer, so why would 3.33 be accurate?
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6999230 3 ref
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7020572 3 ref
3.33 for a high end= bogus
3.22 for a high end= bogus
3.11 for a high end= the average is 3, the low end would have to be 2.88
3 for a high end= the current high end.
Key resellers inflating the market artificially! YAY!
Downvoted with confidence.
First Link: Two hours ago he had bought 7 keys. In fact, I viewed the trade when he had just posted it. (First bump.) There were 7 bought. The same guy was buying keys for 3 ref: http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/7065632 - And that's most likely where he got the 7 from.
---
The second link is my good friend. He had a lot of metal, and believe me, I knew him more than a month ago. His backpack was filled with keys. He didn't hoard them at 3 ref at all. Need proof? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GZauheeGquk&list=UUF7CzZYh5aKzN5KiZyIG9mg&index=17 - Look here. His video.
---
Link 3? You "Seriously doubt it." When the guy had a screenie up for 3 ref, and they guy said he'd buy all. He later posted again.
There are many more sellers successfully selling at 3.11 and 3.22 than buyers at 3 ref, as you can see in my links.
---
If you check out all your 3 ref links, they only have around 1 or two offers.
The link two links under your finance link? That guy doesn't have a single offer, and the trade's been up for a day.
---
The guy with 7 new keys also is selling items for keys, so by no means can you judge it by that. I just sold a S. Huntsman for 17 keys and 2 ref, and I buy keys at 2.88 (to no success), so does that mean I bought 17 keys for 2.88? No.
---
3.33 for high end: Slightly bogus.
3.22 for high end: Acceptable
3.11 for high end: Acceptable too, yet would not include full market price
3 for high end: Bogus, I've sold over 20 for higher.
---
Your reasoning is strange to me, I don't completely understand. Tell me more.
My own proof:
http://www.tf2outpost.com/trade/6889816
People jump at 3.11 like dogs. Changed my price down to 3.11 and I got an add in literally seconds.
Yeah. Sell for 3.11, people scramble over it like madmen. Sell for 3.22, it's like selling a key for 2.66 back then. Get less offers, but still wanted.
I must say that of all the key suggestions yours most certainly is the most convincing...however, the inflation of keys is not real, it's simulated, and if it continues the market is going to crash, sooner than later.
Unfortunately if this suggestion goes through then people will see it and push for 3.33-3.44, and then the price will change again, and so on and so forth.
At some point we as a community have to put a stop to it and leave the key alone.
The market will only crash if Valve puts a sale on keys WHICH WILL NEVER HAPPEN.
There are other ways to crash items, don't you remember a few months ago when buds were inflating and got up to 29-30 keys? Within a week they crashed to 25. Why would the same not happen to keys?
I remember this. Unfortunately this is the case. Prices may keep rising, but Backpack.tf is a market spreadsheet, and this is market price. Hopefully keys will drop like buds did, yet I'm not completely sure. That's why I put, "I would suggest that Backpack.tf disables key pricing altogether, though it would be a risky move."
As King put it, "Those who want it lower don't realize that it's going to rise either way and doesn't matter if we change it here or not."
Thanks for your feedback, I hope I can convince you to support my post.
Ghost Akrra, it is idiots like you that are the reason why casual players loathe traders so much.
Believe what you will, but in my opinion this is not just a market spreadsheet. Sure it lists the "market" prices, but it also sways the market. Knowing the average TF2 trader, if this passes they aren't going to sell for this price, but they will try to get just a little bit more, say 3.33. Then we change the price to 3.33. Then sellers try to get 3.44...and it will keep going on and on. This is what artificial inflation does, and artificially inflated prices always crash.
Exactly. I wish I could change this bad habit. My hope is that this will change.
Go away! Please.
Is trying to buy keys at 2.88^
No, I'm not, I just don't think all these key price rises are such bullshit. According to tf2finance.com, the key's price rises about 9-10% a year. In the past month its risen 15%, and in the year 25%. There is no need for this.
No need? This is a website to track market prices. This is the market price. If you're trying to buy for 2.88, you're buying lower than market prices. Sure it's gone up a whole lot, but still... this is the current price. It's not, "I don't want this to go up more." It's not opinion based, more factual.
Facts only go so far before opinions are more important...
Then opinions go so far before facts take over.
Those who want it lower don't realize that it's going to rise either way and doesn't matter if we change it here or not..Up vote
^ Exactly.
Next thing you know : http://bazaar.tf/trade/82915
Holy... :O
Retarded price keys only selling cos people need keys downvote this shit and save the economy
downvotes don't matter, last key vote went like positive 30% and negative 70% and yet...still accepted
Still downvote this its retarded
As amazingly amazing and thorough your evidence is Id rather accept the 3.11 suggestion until tf2finance catches up, nothing against your suggestion, just need to curb the inflation a bit.
