Okay, allow me to elaborate further on this after you have a look at some of my proofs:
Selling for 1 ref:

Please note, there is only three trades that are selling it for 0.66 ref. ONE trade is active and very recent with 1 bookmark, while the TWO others are inactive and hasn't been actively bumped (3 days once maybe, I don't know, its right at the back page). Iron Curtain, seeing that it requires a gift wrap to trade, it takes a longer time for it to be sold compare to normal items. So if you see some of them selling for 1 ref but still no offers after a few weeks, you now know why. But due to massive offers of 1 ref, this price is definitely do-able as a flat price, no one offered 0.66 ref.
no proof, no reasoning and owns 14 of them. epic downvote -_-
I own 14 iron curtains??? I never knew o.o
Just one question: You drunk?
no, he's doesn't know what he is saying. He thought I had a UC bombing run. I didn't. He's just cruisin' for a
bruisin'ban.Forgive me ignorance, but how the hell do you trade an un-trade-able item?
If I am not being an idiot, this price change seems pretty redundant.
You gift wrap it. The price here on backpack.tf is, I assume, what a buyer would pay next to providing the gift wrap, e,g, the Iron Curtain is one ref + wrap, the Dangeresque a key + wrap.
Ahh, I see. I've never really used wrap before. But could you could get scammed easily, no?
It's possible to get scammed. Normally, what they will do is that the seller exchanges something which is worth +/- the price of a gift wrap when the buyer gives him the gift wrap. That way, even if the seller decides to run off with the gift wrap, the buyer doesn't lose much. But of course, if you trust the seller, you can just give him the gift wrap and hope that he gives it back to you with the item in it :D
So in other words, it's a really risky move. I see now. I've never really been into he gift-wrap trading scenario and I probably never will. :D
But thanks for taking the time to respond to my ignorant question!
You're most welcome :)
And to you, my good sir: An up-vote for your extensive research of this product.
it's not that risky, i've never seen anyone get scammed that way. just make sure the seller is reputable, and the suggestion of using collateral is also a very good idea.
you can see whether the gift wrap contains an item, of course. normally i just make sure i've got the seller's steamrep page open.
What most people will do is trade the giftwrapped item for giftwrap, plus the payment for the item. This way, there is almost no risk involved.
However, just in case you were wondering, a giftwrapped item will tell you what it contains if you hover your mouse over it in-trade. What some scammers will do, since it isn't obvious just by looking at the item what it is, is switch out the giftwrapped item with another wrapped one that is worth much less. As long as you are careful, though, you shouldn't have to worry about being scammed.
