I'd just like to say I was forced to buy 3 keys at 4.88 ref in the last two days and lucked out and got 1 for 4.77 on scrap.tf.. and it's not because I wasn't trying. Use this as evidence, or a testimonial, I don't care.. whether I want to or not, I'm voting this up because it is a reflection of the market.

These days I have to admit, anyone who dares make a key suggestion must have balls of steel. Especially when another is still open.

Shouldn't we let the prices settle? It's exactly this sort of thing which causes the keys to jump in prices again. People cross reference their prices with backpack.tf and jack up their prices, then others post the trades here to increase their prices again. T.T Cause & effect.

Well I wrote a really long post on the other suggestion, tf2finance actually CAN be manipulated and it clearly states it is BETA and were only for personal use once, I have never really trusted the site and would really like to see what happened if it closed for a month or so.

its just an added bonus, it might not help them get it passed, but it wont hurt.

because it's a key price bible. jk, it's a site which somehow calculate price of keys, but seriously, no one found out, that people with hundreds of keys can transfer keys to their alts for.. let's say 5 ref and trolling that website? And they can do it over and over.

The calculation thngy is very VERY limited and can be manipulated if you have enough willpower, although quite much is needed. It counts only trades on english servers and only players with earbuds which specifies what you need to get recorded on the site.

Presume you do this massive trading until the price on tf2finance has gone up and then suddebly stops, what happens?

The regular key trades should then resume the market and the price would go down slightly before the suggestion is submitted and key prices rise a little.

Yeah man, I thought the same some time ago. IMO it can be so easy to spam fake trades all the time and make price of keys go higher. This is just one site, but notice that... ALMOST ALL OF RECENT KEY SUGGESTIONS (accepted) had tf2finance link as FIRST PROOF.

Seems fishy to me too. People, come on, don't blindly believe in everything. And almost all the time price of keys from outpost was in the current range..

I actually haven't seen a single key suggestion with solid proof, I randomly clicked some on the last one and 1 of 4 were good, although he could buy 2 at most. And gets recorded as proof of buyers at the top end.

i think it's hilarious we can raise an items price by buying 10 for 5 refined and we call it proof, then you can sell all your other 100 keys for a higher price.

Keys are selling at 1.70 like hotcakes. This guy just bought 40 at 1.70. Angry Kittens bought a shit ton this morning on sourceop at 1.70. I'm selling at 1,70 and although selling slowly, I'm still selling. IMO it should be closer to 5 ref right now.

Just because everyone on backpack.tf doesn't want keys to go up (and downvotes suggestions that say otherwise) doesn't mean they aren't rising ridiculously. We're meant to reflect what's happening right now in the market, and keys are rising with or without constant price changing here it seems.

We aren't reflecting whats happening right now on the market, the market is reflecting what backpack.tf says. people check the price that it says on backpack.tf and sell higher than it. Most people sell the keys for higher than backpack.tf price so the buyers only choice is to buy those keys at the sellers price. People make suggestions for a new price with the proof being people who checked the backpack.tf price and sell higher than it. the price gets accepted and people check the backpack.tf price again and sell higher again. Backpack.tf is sorta controlling the market.

Oh I agree with you that backpack.tf's contributing to the key pricing for sure. It's like holding two mirrors against each other and watching the doubled reflections stretch out forever, am I right? Though I think at the end of the day, backpack.tf's here to show what the market is doing right now and until the admins block key suggestions or find a more subtle solution we have no choice but to say what keys are selling for these days (and they are selling). I find this event pretty unlikely myself.

yeah keys will be about 6 refined if this continues in ~2 keys

and guess what i still won't care nor will most traders. who couldn't care a thing about refined. but guess what buds are about 38 dollars now and keys are 1.70~. so this is the best time to cash out.

you know the only way to make key prices go down is to either 1. stop selling keys for metal only for hats, unusuals ect. 2. close outpost down because most of the price rises are because people on outpost selling them at like 4.88 and all that shit.

seems to me the main problem is backpack.tf giving incentives for making suggestions, the easiest one being keys. Without the incentives would as many suggestions get made??? Just a thought
