6.22 ref is the most common price point. 6.11 now happens rather infrequently but there's still several successful buyers so still in range. 6.33 is possible and easily sellable now, so it's included.

Indeed, metal and buds are going up, but that doesn't mean keys will necessarily go down.

Yesterday I put up this trade selling 3 keys for 6.33 each just to see if any would sell. They were all bought within 5 hours. I don't know WHY you would buy keys for over the suggested amount, but someone did it, and they did it very quickly.

The reason is as following: backpack.tf is a GUIDELINE. ppl will allways buy & sell over & under the listet price nomatter what its set at.. example: if bp raise a key to 6.66 ref then several ppl would try & sell their keys for 7 ref+ & sure they will sell. not fast or anything ofc but they will make a sale sometimes :-) (allready ppl doing it now & allways will be like that)

I understand that, but my keys sold quickly! I just don't get why people would choose to buy keys for 6.33 when they could easily find people selling for 6.22, or 6.11 if they really tried.

Because lazy like me and not worth the extra effort to save a few cents.

That's because it is meant to be funny. Apparently you're not familiar with Pyroman. He wishes he had alts where he kept keys, but all he did for a long time is whenever he was able to work his way up to a key he'd immediately unbox thinking he'd get lucky. His backpack has been worth barely 3-4 keys for months. The only exceptions being when another backpack.tf member loaned him an unusual so his backpack value would be more expensive, so that he could suggest on higher unusuals, and when another backpack.tf member loaned him 8 keys in order for him to possibly start trading which he immediately used to unbox. This is the first time that Pyroman has actually taken trading seriously and has been making actual profit. He still hasn't been able to surpass a bud in backpack value through his own efforts.

Why is 6.11 on the range, I've been trying to buy keys for 6.11 and absolutely no one is selling, and when I saw a guy advertising his keys here (he was selling like 7 of them) I added him. Even though I added him instantly he said he had already just sold them to some guy. Of course must have been one of the scum who bought them to re-sell.

I've bought a couple keys recently for 6.11, so I feel this range is good. upvote.

What people don't realize is as soon as this price goes up, people are going to start pushing its boundaries to say 6.44 or 6.55 refined. By keeping the price steady the price people sell keys for will not have to keep having to be made higher, resulting in a vicious cycle.

Im sorry but the price has been between 6 and 6.22 for quit a while and people have been selling for 6.33-6.44 for a long time, if they see they sell quickly enough they change their prices for more.

I agree with the price range. 6.11-6.33 would satisfy both the factions supporting different range of keys.

The more pressing issue here is that this price was it even necessary to be reported? Aren't you going a bit overboard with your suggestions ? If I recall then in the past few key suggestions the closing comments from the moderators have been that some sellers sell for more and some sellers sell of less, there is no need to post a suggestion unless the change required is quite substantial. And all I could see in this suggestion is the integration of 6.33 ref in the range in order to counteract the 6.11 range? when clearly the dominant range is 6.22 ref.

My point was simple:

1) There exist a buyer with relatively big metal capacity who buys at 6.22

2) This buyer may be selling for 6.5 or 65 or don't sell at all. It doesn't affect 1).

3) Typos, bad css, ugly avatars, etc also don't affect 1).

Votes are horribly biased on key suggestions. If it's going up, most voters refuse to accept this and downvote. Surely you should know this by now. I don't see how you can judge just based on votes.

Backpack.tf can't just 'stop making suggestions', it is supposed to follow the market trend (although I agree sometimes it leads it).

I think we've been over this once before...

Nearly all suggestions use solds that don't have comments and are used for proof assuming that they sell for asking price since no haggling occurs in the comments. If they add and pay with items, it's more than likely overpay if the seller asks. It's up to you to disprove that they didn't sell for asking price, not Pyroman's.

And take a look at classifieds... none of the 6,33 ref keys have sold and even there are 6,22 ref keys left there and been there for hours/days... lol no way 6,33 is in the range!

I scanned the classifieds 30 minutes ago and deleted all the sellers on the first page who were out of keys; I purged 3 6.11s, 3 6.22s, and 3 6.33s.

I'm looking barely for someone like 2 days.

People think if its not up on trading sites, its impossible to get. Trading sites are instant and there are lots of external services that alert the player when a good deal comes up. If people actually took the time to get on a trade server and buy keys for 6.11, I'm positive they'd be more successful. My outpost trade for keys never got any adds but I managed to buy 9 keys at the price when I went through trade servers. Because people are too lazy to get on and actually try to find keys on servers for the price, they pay extra to get them instantly through trading sites. This creates an illusion that the key price is going up when in fact its just that the number of lazy people are going up.

Implying it is fucked in any way.

Second Edit, actually managed to sell 5 keys total because I sold a Last Breath for a key. So, I personally managed to sell [ 5 Keys for 6.33 within 2 hours ]

Sure they are selling them for that only because tf backpack is listing them for 6 and they are selling for slightly more. That's why the price keys keeps increasing, its stuck in a cycle. The price of keys shouldn't be going up if anything the supply is getting bigger because more people are buying them

Yes...they're selling for more than what we have listed, that's the entire point of updating them to reflect what the market currently is, not what we want it to be. And I'm sorry that I used my eyes and looked into his backpack instead of looking at unrelated things to his account. Keys are exactly where they should be due to free metal constantly being made every day on alts and idle accounts.

Actually, Valve just removed idling, no idea what you mean there.

They removed the auto idling, you can still leave TF2 up and manually accept items while you dick around on the internet. Just have to switch accounts between days you idle. Note, I never said free metal from idling, just from idle accounts.

I never mentioned anything about alt accounts, just the fact that they removed idling. Valve did say when they removed it that drops would stop once you haven't accepted the item that you found.

The thing was that I never mentioned traditional idling in the original post either, just that people still had idle accounts from before which some still use to get free metal.

And you just check in once an hour, accept the item, and move onto the next one.

For some reason I can't reply to you, Curly. Anyway players must be active in order to get drops. Also I have not seen any proof of this "other way" you keep mentioning.

It's a semi-idle, just leave TF2 up while you're doing other things on the computer, then click it to accept your item, then get back to doing your business with other things.

Open TF2, start an offline game, minimize it and re-open every hour, accept the item and wait another hour, repeat until you stop getting drops.

You have to be in a game to earn drops, and offline games work just as well as online games, most people don't know this.
