Why would anyone pay more than 1.50 refined for a craft hat? Don't they know they can craft a hat using 3 Refined Metals?

Well, Bread Box Hype so people buy hats to open the box, not craft hats.

That does seem to be where this demand is coming from.

Everything will go back to normal after July the 9th when Bread Boxes will become unavailable to be crafted.

Not so sure about that. Due to the update, the supply of those hats will go down, making those craft hats rare. They maybe stable after the hype.

That's my predict.

These hats are 1.33 because not many people wear them and their only use is crafting. I don't think they will remain at high price for too long because of no use.

not everyone is so lucky to craft the desired hat at once. when ppl aim for a specific craftable hat they are willing to pay more than just 3 ref in a some cases they pay keys.

I am pretty sure all of them are sold, if not all almost. Classifieds do not get deleted until or unless the person who opened it deletes it or someone visits their backpack.

I feel like 1.33 to 1.66 would be the ideal range, but in the end, I do agree, the price needs to change one way or another.

That's simply not true. Low tier stranges, hats, keys, and buds all sell frequently in under a day. Those are not quicksells. Those are common trade points.

The time to sale is only one factor in establishing ranges on this site. MORE important is how often an item sells at a certain point. If there are 10 sales at 1.33 and 1 sale at 1.66, it shouldn't matter how long it takes to sell at the different values. It should still be priced at 1.33.

It seems that 1.33 is still such a common trade point that can't be ignored. Votes here are also mixed at best. Seems like 1.33 should remain in the range.

I have some observations:

1. 10 - 20 min is quicksell for EVERY ALL items on Team Fortress 2. Everything below 12 hours is a quicksell. 1 Day for items with low demand.

2. If he has a lot of 1.44 buyers, obviously the 1.33 buyers are irrelevant.

3. Why the dislikes to Mr.Giang? He's in the correct every time.

Look at the conga, you get like 10 people adding you at once on the first day. I know I did. Not exactly a quicksale because it's mostly people wanting it and actually wanting to use it and not people looking for a discount. But then again, conga op.

On topic: Pure hype has fuelled the (temporary) item hike. Once the breadboxes are no longer craftable, the price will fall again. Don't even think it's worth it to change the price for a fortnight when the price will inevitably fall back to 1.33 and below afterwords.

I didn't even know this existed as a listed price....

It's new due to the fact that we actually have to have individual proof to raise each hat rather standardised proof of people buying "any craft hat".

Because they are quick-sold so it should be excluded, easy.

And they are not happening a lot now. If you are lucky, you will find a seller who want to sell his hat for 1.33 without being grabbed by other people.

They're quickselling because of the bread hype, not because of the cheap price. Most of of 1,44 s and 1,55s (and some 1,66s) are also selling quick, but that doesn't mean they should be excluded of the range. I think 1,33 -1,66 would be appropiate.Also, I think we should wait until people start to get down from the hype train to make this suggestion. Hope you understood my point, my english is not that great.

Anyone one who buys a craft hat for above 1.33 is an idiot. People just don't understand the concept of being patient and that you don't need to make .33 profit on everything. Buy craft hats at 1.22 and sell them for 1.33. There should not even be a listing for craft hats everyone knows the price.

There's really no point in raising the price for a random craft hat... 1.33 ref is pretty much the standard price out there, considering Scrap.tf's hat banking system, and all the craftable hats are priced there as 1.33. If you bump the price up here, buyers and sellers alike will just go banking there...

Many things can be said about what will happen in the future, but Backpack.tf is mainly created to price all the items and to keep up with the market. Current market price is leading towards 1.44 - 1.66 and backpack.tf has to keep up with that. Assumptions like that are not valid. I can put up an assumption on a currency and price it entirely on my assumption with no proof/anything to back it up. Would that be valid? Of course not. We don't know what will happen after July 9th. It may plummet down to 1.33 or it may not (due to supply decreasing).

What we can't do is not update the price of craft hat and let market play it out. Backpack.tf was created to inform others about basic guide price for an item and to keep up with that guide. Many people follows this site whether completely basing the price off of this site or using it as a guide. Not updating the price would only misinform others about the current market price.

Im starting to think that the mods are like deliberately ignoring this. But the proof is good, and the market is showing the range (or at least in the trading servers), so upvote.

The thing is this is a temporary raise. It will be a real hassle if you just raise the price of a random craft hat by 1 scrap for like 2 more weeks. After the hype is gone this will return to normal.

I believe it has been removed from the front page only because of it being controversial to few subjects and such. I am not 100% sure but I can tell that this might be the very reason why it was removed from the front page. It is still there and you can still price it from the pricelist section. ^_^
