The reason for the high jump from 14 to 15, as well as the low suggestion (because people are selling/buying much higher) is because of the following proof (We all know the price is going to go up, the way people are buying and selling won't make it lower, everyone is doing higher.)

I should also point out that a few have people saying "added" or something to a similar effect but I'm unsure as to if when they have done a successful trade whether they also "tick" the post to say they've sold the key to them, so there may be a lot more keys sold than I know of.

The range seems ok, even because i was trying to buy some keys at 14 ref, and then i was forced (almost instantly) to jump to 15. Anyway, probably you'll need some more solds. For now, staying neutral.

That is fair enough, thank you for your feedback, I have to also admit it is pretty hard to buy keys for the current price of 14 refined, when it was at 12.66 refined I was able to sell keys at around 13.22, the problem is that people may always want more, but that would also be a good base on how to set the price, which would explain the price following that being 13 - 13.66 refined.

I hope people don't mind, but I'm also going to borrow some proof from previous suggestions as well, if that's ok.

Oh well. Now you have confirmed the 15 ref. But now you have to add some few solds to prove that the 15-15.33 range is good (so other 15.33 solds).

If you are thinking about it, yes, for the keys suggestions you always need a lot of proofs.

Well if that's what you're going by, I should point out that the price of keys have gone up all the time since the start of TF2 which was around 2 refined, the only time it went down is during the Bread update, that only way to make keys go down seems to be making it so people want refined and not keys.

If I was to give my own opinion, I'd say I want the price to go down, but that isn't going to happen, since the start of TF2 the price has gone up and just looking through outpost and even on backpack.tf if you look, the minimum you'll find (universally) is 15 refined. There is, admittedly, a very few amount of 14.66's about but mostly nearer to 16 Refined, but I thought that jump was a bit too high considering it's currently on 14, so I thought 15 was an appropriate amount to go to.

Honestly, I would say that more proof would help you. Previous key suggestions has quite a bit more in links than this.

Well that is fair enough, this is my first time doing a suggestion, I just didn't want to click through loads of pages of outpost just to find I've accidentally every now and again copied the same links because of the auto-bump every 30 minutes for the people with premium.

But as I said in the main post, I did show how to get the results I've got and you can see by just clicking refresh or going to random pages, there is a hell of a lot going for 15 refined, some are bots buying for a good refined more than it's official price as of right now with 14 refined

I thought the reason that keys were going up was because Refined was going down in price, I could be wrong of course but that was the most logical in my mind, which would also explain the buds going down as well.

That and idling bots, which is why refined are worthless now :/ too much of them.

Hello there, I don't believe we've met, and to be fair, it doesn't surprise me, this is my first time doing a price suggestion for anything, I've edited this quite a few times, but yeah 14.66 is a pretty weird quicksell considering the price is 14 ref, I was able to sell keys for 15 refined when the price wasn't even at 14 refined at the time, things are going mad, but you can't argue with facts, refined goes down, keys go up, people pay more, the keys go up more, only natural.

That last sentence needs to be removed. Economy is growing stronger, not falling..

The vast majority of tf2 items (everything based on ref or earbuds) are devaluing in terms of USD incredibly quickly... I don't think that could be counted as the economy growing stronger in any sense of the word.

I completely agree, I don't like to see keys go up, it's annoying, but you can't really go away from the fact that it's happening, and, well, we're living in expensive times, ever since TF2 started, (this is what I've heard, can't really say it's from experience) when keys were around 2 refined, they've only gone up, I believe the only time they actually went down was during the bread update and that was due to the fact metal was needed VERY MUCH for getting cheap craft hats to make the bread box... which then the bread box turned into a sky rocket price of about 4 keys when you couldn't get them anymore and people made a fortune, lucky people. But yeah, it's painful, but it's fact.

It is getting annoying, but that is the price they sell at, and we are reporting current prices, so I guess what we are doing here is in tandem with the guidelines. I still have one more thing that annoys me, THE STEAM COMMUNITY MARKET 1 WEEK "PROTECTION PERIOD". How is this gonna stop scamming...I diverge, but seriously, soon people are gonna stop paying such extortionate prices for keys, and it can go down. Finally.

Eventually! People don't realize that the prices going up aren't due to people being greedy or mean on sites like bp.tf, it's completely the fault of buyers who keep purchasing keys with refined at higher and higher prices. If you look at the supply of keys, it hasn't gone up drastically since september, when they were only worth around 8 refined. So technically, if we assume key demand hasn't risen dramatically, then the prices should go down. But the one variable so many people are forgetting about is the willingness to pay more for keys.

To translate the last sentence: "Rest In Peace in peace".

Well I don't believe the price of keys will ever go above the store prices because when keys go up to this, refined will likely to go down making keys "cheaper" again - besides I did my calculations and technically, if it did go through, keys would (as of right now) be worth exactly 1p more than the store, but then remember, ref will likely go down then it's back to cheap-ville again

I might consider a more conservative bump if you are having trouble finding proof on your higher end, possibly a 14.66-15 ref range. It might be a bit easier for voters to swallow :) Other than that great proof and an upvote from me!

Well someone did find a few at the higher end of my range, the problem is that I myself can't find the sold keys in general, let alone for a certain price, I honestly have no idea how people do it lol but yeah I couldn't suggest 14.66 - 15 because 14.66 is considered quicksell these days and quicksell usually means lower than the backpack.tf price, so I thought the appropriate action to take was 15 - 15.33 considering people are also buying (and succeeding) with 16 refined

Yeah finding proof can definitely be challenging. It is especially so for a currency. The fact that a quick sell is 0.66 ref above bp.tf price frightens me, though. Actually witnessed a kid buying keys for 14.33 ref today and then putting them up for 18 ref in order to stay ahead of price raises. While I have come to not care about the exchange rates between refined and keys, I do still realize that it only fluctuates due to buyers willing to pay more for keys.

The sad thing is I think the reason that C9 wants it even higher is because he has a good 80 keys in his backpack, I don't normally trust people with stupid amounts of keys then trying to put the price of what you have a lot of, up.

What? You cannot use that argument. I am an unusual trader; the value of keys means nothing to me except what I can sell sweets for. I do not deal in items below a key 99% of the time. It has no affect on the suggestion.

I know I know, I didn't say that was the only reason, I just saying that's how I feel, I don't see it as a "Oh, he's got keys, stop him." I see it as "Oh, he's got keys, I myself don't overly like it but it will probably be true proof anyway whether it gives him an advantage or not"

I would have made the suggestion had I had keys or not. The purpose of it was to see if people were being selective; and then posting the results. But no problem, I understand how you feel - it's even worse when people try to lower unusuals that you own.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, it's based round fact not opinion, if prices go up or down, that's just how it's meant to be, that's the way the community is going, it's just up to us to keep the prices updated

Having 50-400 keys in ones backpack is fairly common once you reach high-tiered trading. Personally, I try to keep at least 100 keys in reserve. In addition, just like Neobenedict said, most of the time, I do not deal with items valued under 1 key.

Believe me or not, keys going up actually does not give unusual traders the advantage you think it does. As said before, I rarely deal with items valued under a key, and the only time I do deal with those items is when I receive sweets. When keys increase from 14 ref to 15 ref, I am not going to think "wow, my key is worth 1 ref more!" Instead, I would be thinking "damn, I need to sell these sweets/ref quickly, otherwise they are going to depreciate". If anything, it affects us in a negative fashion.

The only thing that the rise of keys can do is to the economy, this in no way should affect the playability of the core game itself. Because anything expensive is cosmetic, or a strange, etc, and you can still play the game without those.

0.66 ranges have happened before, nothing wrong with them. consideering the amount of solds 13.44+ probqably outnumber 13.33 and below, we can't ignore it.

Yeah you have a point, but it's all the time when you rise the price from 13ref→14ref everyone was selling keys for 14ref→15ref, it's just impossible to stop key price rising if we will do that. People doesn't want to buy keys for 15REF each, the price shouldn't go higher anymore than it is! Actually price should go down :C I agree to you that everything there is legit and you are right, but this too high, that why downvote!

It's only natural for the price of keys to go up, you can't keep the same price forever, that's not how life works. Take real life for example, how would people make a living if they kept a lot of things at a cheap price instead of rising it? They'd go out of business, they'd lose their homes, and so on.

I'm ok if I don't "win" or in better terms, I'm ok if I don't get the price myself, I'm just happy that I put up a good fight, I tried my best, got my thread to be as "Successful" as it is, I've got a good 2,000 votes (and not finished yet) may the best man win.

I would of given my one a larger price range but I personally can't see a large price range on keys, usually it's an exact price or a rec range, when it becomes 2 rec or more of a range, I find people could abuse the system to get more keys cheaply then sell for much more, which is actually one of the many things that is the reason people complain about killing the economy, I find it's not killing it, it just is advancing faster than we'd like. It's only natural :)

I hate to tell you but if you want the economy to stop being "killed" don't have a go at people such as myself trying to raise the price, have a go at the people who are already selling keys at 1 - 3 refined higher than what it's currently worth.

If you truly don't like what's going on, make something for Team Fortress 2 which will sink the price of keys, and by that I mean make something which should only be created through metal that way if people want it they will want metal thus making the key price go down, why do you think keys sank during the bread update? Keys will stay the same price in mann co store, so that means people who buy keys can buy more ref.

Also, how the hell is tf2 being killed? You can get refined for playing and crafting (aka FOR FREE) while you have to buy/trade for keys. This isn't affecting gameplay in anyway.

Why should they be invalid? They sell keys to real humans and real people are willing to pay that much for them. And thats what this whole price change is about, how much people are willing to pay in metal for keys!
