You realise, the price is not going to fall any time soon? As long as people are completely fine with buying keys for upwards of 19 refined (which they must do otherwise there wouldn't be as much proof), the price will keep rising.

Regarding "not good for new players", this makes it BETTER! They need to buy 1 key, they get a Premium TF2 account AND 20+ refined to spend on weapons and cosmetics they want (which will remain around 1.22-1.33 refined for most of them anyway).

Yes I can actually. When I first started playing (early 2008), trading was non-existent as was the drop system and crafting. There was no such thing as hats (shock-horror). I was around when they first introduced hats (At the same time I and a lot of other people used Drunken F00l's idler - ironically, I got the Halo) and got my first hat ever - the Mining Light (which I've still got).

When trading DID come around, people were trading Max's for 3 hats because there was no such thing as backpack.tf at the time. Keys were just an accessory and Unusuals were mostly undocumented and unknown.

Now, back onto the subject of keys. When they first came out, they were around 2 refined and stayed at that for a while. Idling kicked up a gear and more and more refined was being produced (Which is still around FYI. Why spend 3 refined crafting a random hat when you can just *buy* it for 1.33 and have the guarantee it's the hat you want?), so the price of keys rose because people were prepared to pay more for them (as almost everyone had an idle farm at that point). Personally, I had 11 accounts idling using Sandboxie and bought 3 keys. The rest of the metal went towards buying hats.

Judging by your responses and attitude, if you think spending $2 (which you can make on the Steam Marketplace by selling game cards you don't want etc - a free key if you will) on a key to cash out into refined for items is somehow impossible then I don't think trading is your thing. You mention 'getting poorer', well complaining about it and wishing for a non-existent key price drop won't do anything about it (Just like real life!).

I don't have a $700+ backpack by just sitting around, complaining. I got off my ass and started WORKING towards the items I wanted (Capitalism!). I didn't pyramid trade (far too slow and with a low success rate), I either bought the item outright (Aus. Sniper Rifle - wonders of having a job!) or traded things (The Max's - I traded the free VALVE pack of games I got for completing the Golden Potato steam event).

Time to get rich then.
